BRING BACK LOVIE!!! Well, at least he always had good ST's and D. You're right, this group of coaches is excellent except for this one particular area. Not sure why they can't see what we all do. I'd fire the ST coach too.

Agreed with your first comments. The ONLY reason the ad makes any sense is because of Ditka's persona being so tied to the Bears. With that said, Ditka hasn't been "The Man" in quite some time. He had the right stuff for the early 80's but soon proved to not be the best coach. He had the talent on that team to do more than he did. Jimmy Mac always being hurt didn't help but he still should've done more. And after the Bears weren't the most talented team in the NFL, his coaching faltered. And his ego is, bar none, the biggest I've ever seen.

I agree with everything in this thread except the concept of winning a meaningless game. I want the team to win every Sunday. You build a winning attitude by winning. You get soft with excepting excuses and patting yourself on the back for a good try. There's no damn good reason the Bears shouldn't have won the last two games they played other than the defense cratered in the clutch. 2/3rds of the teams in the NFL just beg you to beat them week after week. They suck. It's the good teams that capitalize and do just that. While I think we're on the right path, and at the end of the day Jason might be right that this is a good loss in the long run, I cringe when I see the team happy with moral victories. They shouldn't accept failure so happily, nor should we as fans.

HE WAS OVER THE LINE!!!!

Well if he didn't learn from his mistakes in Denver I'm even more disappointed. And Gase was with him. On the road, in OT, you have to have some balls and be more aggressive with the play calling. This year is honestly a year for growth anyway so I'm not going to get too down on him. But there has to be improvement in all aspects of this team, including coaching.

Eli's numbers definitely went up last night. LOL!

I'll just add that Detroit's group of WR's are the biggest bunch of showboaters I can recall. The call on the field should've stood because there was absolutely NO compelling evidence to overturn it.

Good post. My thoughts are fairly similar. Not taking time outs to preserve some clock was ridiculous. And then the play calling for the offense in OT was even worse. That said, I still believe in this coaching staff but those two examples were Wanny-esq and I expect better. The failure to save time didn't hurt them much as Jay was able to make some great plays to get it into OT anyway. But damn.... The missed holding call in OT on Detroit was stunning. All day long these officials are calling anything and everything and then they miss the most obvious call the entire game. Officials aside, there's no excuse for losing this game. The Bears could've and should've won it DESPITE the horrible calls that went against them. A team further along the learning curve would've won this game.

You ought to bathe after something like that . Start with water, soap up, then rinse. Then we can all learn the difference between bath salts and sugar, btw I like skippy peanut butter.

AP currently ranks them at 20 which I'd say is fair except the Raiders don't belong above us. We just beat them last friggen week. This means the team is mediocre and hopefully improving. http://pro32.ap.org/poll

He also does a spot on WXRT radio on Monday morning. The dude sounds like a surfer.

100% agree. Which is why he needs to get his ass on the field. I'm sure he's feeling the pressure too.

One of them was successful but was called badly and then they ferked up the review process by not having the camera on the goal line. How the hell can an NFL crew not setup the cameras properly?

No question.

Some trolls here are having a sad. On the other hand, real fans can take heart in the team showing improvement each week. Frankly they looked better against the Packers in week 1 than expected and then had a few games where they looked like last year's version of the Bears. Recently they've played some teams who, like themselves, aren't in the top tier of the league. But a road win is solid regardless of the opponent. And the manner in which they've won the last two games has been impressive no matter if you love Jay or not. Putting together those "captain comeback" type of drives are exactly why the Bears paid him the big bucks. Unfortunately he can't pull a win out of his butt when the D is giving up 40+ points but this team can be fun to watch when they stay within themselves and run a balanced attack. As a Bears fan I'm encourage, not embarrassed, by the way this team is playing.

Sometimes punters can handle the "kick the shit out of the ball and though the endzone" detail. I wonder why this isn't being explored? Hell, I think Ditka used Mongo for kickoffs back in the day, no? All I want is the ball kicked so hard the other team starts on the 20 consistently. Also, to add one thought to this thread, I was surprised the Bears only had 5 penalties because I still felt like they had too many. I guess they were poorly timed or something. I was listening in the car on the radio and not watching.

Just wanted to match your excellent whiners check remark with something "on your Warcraft level". I see you were capable of understanding it. I'm not surprised. You must be reasonably intelligent for a roller. I'd say you've probably got an IQ of at least 86.4.

LOL! That's a good one you idiom. Now go tell your manager I want my silver back.
-
Guess we're not the "worst" team in the league, eh jack black?

I appreciate these posts you occasionally make. Interesting stuff. Thank you.

I agree with that.

I don't disagree with you on much but I will say it's definitely emotional. Let's say Forte or his agent are looking for just a one or two year extension to stay with the Bears. IMO, that's a deal that's already done. I'm sure Pace see's that Forte is still a stud, just like you and I do. But the deal isn't done meaning Matt is looking for a longer deal and probably more money than the Bears are interested in paying. So, as you say, it then becomes a financial decision. And that's just as important to the long term health, and growth, of the team. Pace needs to take that into account. You can't have a 34 year old RB with nothing left in the tank eating up $8 mil in cap space, for example. I'm sure there are ways to structure it to take the biggest hits early on but I have to think the Bears and Matt's agent talk pretty often and he's clearly not come to the conclusion that his market value is what the Bears believe it to be. So he may have no choice but to move elsewhere to get that last contract. To simply say you'd give in to whatever your aging superstars ask for, money-wise, is an emotional response. I don't mean it as an insult to you, I get ferkin' emotional every Sunday when I watch the Bears suck shit.
-
Ha. Truer words have never been spoken. Terra has never been happier. The team sucks, it's a dream come true for him.
-
This is just Jason being emotional like he was about #54. I agree with him you should treat your great players with dignity but there's a better way to handle it than was done with Urlacher. It'll be interesting to watch this unfold. I too think Matt's days in blue and orange are numbered.
