  1. Sometimes punters can handle the "kick the shit out of the ball and though the endzone" detail. I wonder why this isn't being explored? Hell, I think Ditka used Mongo for kickoffs back in the day, no? All I want is the ball kicked so hard the other team starts on the 20 consistently. Also, to add one thought to this thread, I was surprised the Bears only had 5 penalties because I still felt like they had too many. I guess they were poorly timed or something. I was listening in the car on the radio and not watching.
  2. Just wanted to match your excellent whiners check remark with something "on your Warcraft level". I see you were capable of understanding it. I'm not surprised. You must be reasonably intelligent for a roller. I'd say you've probably got an IQ of at least 86.4.
  3. LOL! That's a good one you idiom. Now go tell your manager I want my silver back.
  4. Guess we're not the "worst" team in the league, eh jack black?
  5. I appreciate these posts you occasionally make. Interesting stuff. Thank you.
  6. I don't disagree with you on much but I will say it's definitely emotional. Let's say Forte or his agent are looking for just a one or two year extension to stay with the Bears. IMO, that's a deal that's already done. I'm sure Pace see's that Forte is still a stud, just like you and I do. But the deal isn't done meaning Matt is looking for a longer deal and probably more money than the Bears are interested in paying. So, as you say, it then becomes a financial decision. And that's just as important to the long term health, and growth, of the team. Pace needs to take that into account. You can't have a 34 year old RB with nothing left in the tank eating up $8 mil in cap space, for example. I'm sure there are ways to structure it to take the biggest hits early on but I have to think the Bears and Matt's agent talk pretty often and he's clearly not come to the conclusion that his market value is what the Bears believe it to be. So he may have no choice but to move elsewhere to get that last contract. To simply say you'd give in to whatever your aging superstars ask for, money-wise, is an emotional response. I don't mean it as an insult to you, I get ferkin' emotional every Sunday when I watch the Bears suck shit.
  7. Ha. Truer words have never been spoken. Terra has never been happier. The team sucks, it's a dream come true for him.
  8. This is just Jason being emotional like he was about #54. I agree with him you should treat your great players with dignity but there's a better way to handle it than was done with Urlacher. It'll be interesting to watch this unfold. I too think Matt's days in blue and orange are numbered.
  9. Yeah right. The Patriots are known for making dumb trades. He'll probably be a superstar in 3 weeks.
  10. To be fair, what do you expect Allen to say 2 weeks into the season? He's got to say positive things. On that note, I don't think the season is over either. But this weekend is going to be tough.
  11. Jimmy was bad. I'd say it's somewhat unfair to judge him too harshly given the way he was inserted into the game. But he pretty much sucked. Cutler threw behind his receiver for his pick. It happens to the best but it wasn't a good throw and shouldn't be defended. He was playing pretty well up until then and led the team for the most part to success. But he isn't earning his LARGE paychecks either. Doesn't matter much who is playing QB when the team gives up 48 friggen points. The tone was set on the opening kickoff. This team needs talent.
  12. The Queens weren't ready for the start of the season. Period. They sucked in every aspect of the game and Bridgewater was throwing passes that missed his receivers by 20 yards. Brutal. And the funny thing is, the 49ers didn't look too much better.
  13. My one lingering concern is how much of us looking decent against the Packers was the fact that there's no film on Gase's Bears offense. All of that no huddle stuff was band new and kept the Packers in a base D all day long. I hope we're better than last year. It appears we are. I just want to see the next few weeks go by before I'm sold.
  14. Oh, don't for a minute think I agree with that comment which I took as a troll of this group. But whatever. At the end of the day I understand why people just want to move on from Jay just like I understand those who want to give him the benefit of the doubt. That's the hope. And as Alshon gets healthier, we play lesser teams, etc. All in all, it was a reasonably decent outing for our boys. We'll have to see where it goes from here.
  15. Dude, I'm right there with you. He was terrible. Looked like me running around the tackle play after play, being made irrelevant each time. And I'm 50! He's a weak link but I guess we don't have a better option if you're assuming Fangio is a defensive genius.
  16. It WAS, however, disappointing. And with Jay's salary I think Bears fans should expect the clutch performance not the fizzle. Can I condemn the guy for one mistake? No. But I understand the aggravation given the several years of performances we've already seen from Jay. With that said, the team actually played pretty well. They looked like a professional football team with obvious flaws playing one of the best teams in the league. If they continue to progress, I'll continue to be patient.
  17. If we pressure Rodgers, they don't score over 24. If we don't, it's going to be a LONG day.
  18. I posted this in the Gase thread too but I think it also belongs here. As to trying to remain positive about this weekend... We're first and foremost fans on here. So we should be a little pumped going into the season, even if we're a tad unrealistic. Second, with all of Cutler's problems and the shitty coaching we had here, he still threw for almost 4,000 yards (over 250 per game against GB last season) and that's with sitting out a game, being dinged up, etc. And Forte put up almost 2,000 yard of offense himself! Sure, the OL is still a concern but a creative offense, better D and ST's (and you can't get much worse than what we've seen here the last two years in those categories) and you could see this team be competitive with better field position and ball possession. Losing Marshall isn't going to help here but hopefully Alshon, Marty and Matt all play up to their capabilities and we've got other WR's who can run good routes. Obviously Jay needs to minimize the mistakes which we'll just have to see if he's capable of doing. The preseason was somewhat promising on this aspect. And being a Bears fan for as long as I have, I remember teams with less talent than this one appears to have still grind it out game after game and be 500ish. With more explosiveness in the passing games than those teams, a defensive genius as DC and a group of RB's we should be able to rotate and keep fresh, you're damn right I'm optimistic. On Sunday we find out what we've really got in this year's Bears.

  20. Let's hope this thread has many cheerful posts on Sunday after 3 PM!
  21. How about when Woody Hayes was asked why he went for 2 when his team scored on Michigan while already leading by 30 points and he said "Because I couldn't go for 3." That's how it ought to be. F*ck McDickwad, I hope we jam it down his throat.
  22. It's not an act. It's who he is. Which either makes it better or worse, depending on your perspective. All I know is I realize that if I piss off the owners of the company I work for, I can't expect to remain employed by them. Simple, really.
