This years TE problem was last years kickers problem. Next year it’ll probably be QB...? But seriously I think they realize to make this offense work, especially if there is any hope Trubisky can run it, they need more double TEs. And more that can catch mid-range passes. To find that right combo they’re pulling out as many stops as reasonable. Trying to find that Kelce in the rough.

Say what you will about Jay as a QB but I think he has good intentions as a human. Just wasn’t very good about putting on the face when in front of the camera. Kristin strikes me as someone who is all about her and needs that camera in her life to function. Makes me think she’s a Kardashian-lite.

He’s raw no doubt. Has good instincts. But you know he’s got the inside track to a great work out partner.

Yeah where are the picks of need? OL and SS? Hell much as I don’t agree with the idea, there has been a lot of clamoring here about a speed receiver and so far...zilch .

This is my concern as well. Like with drafting Kmet and having an abundance of TEs with this pick we now have a plethora of CBs. I had thought Burns and that dude from the XFL (?)and the other guy from KC were going to fight it out for the spot opposite Fuller and If not him then what about Tolliver? Aside from his maturity issues he was pretty well regarded out of college after playing for LSU. And what the hell happened to Shelley and Denmark? I read a little on Shelly and it looks as though they are eveballing him as a NB so maybe that explains that.

Still trying to rationalize some things here but first the positives; big (huge) kid, local kid (could make for a cool story being a local kid who went to ND then back to Chicago to play in the big leagues). Has speed (4.7 40...that’s pretty damn impressive). Catches with his hands!l. Yes I know that seems obvious but it’s a lost art. Arob does it too and does it well. Anyhow, Kmet isn’t afraid of where he’ll be catching passes; over the middle and short yardage. Even says he prefers to run over people (that’s almost reason enough in my book). My concerns; very little production in college. When I say that I mean he only has a total of 600ish yards receiving and 4 TDs in his whole career. And 500ish of that was his Junior year...last year. To put it in perspective Shaheen has nearly 900 yards receiving and 16 TDs in his three year college career. When then “experts” project a player to be 1st or even 2nd round quality on that little production I can’t help be reminded of Trubisky; himself projected as a 1st. Along with that I get concerned with his durability. Not as much playing time in college could translate to an unknown amount of injury risk going forward...or... it could mean he’ll be fine BECAUSE he hasn’t got that wear and tear. Overall I’m still cautiously optimistic with the pick. It makes sense for this team especially if you’re expecting nothing more than a lot of WCO style offense if Mitch is driving. The video does demonstrates a good knack for blocking so that will help. If he’s constantly lined up next to Leno then he’ll never be catching a pass (lol). I guess all we can do is wait and see. I’m sure one of the 10 TEs on the roster will work out. ?

This is kinda where I’m at. Seems like the team is overstocked in positions that weren’t as high a need. Maybe they know something about potential post-draft cuts that we don’t. But..you’re absolutely right with your last sentence.

This is my last bastion of hope... ?? Big 10 generally churns our decent linemen. Unless your name is Gabe Carimi. Lol!

And...Jalen Hurts was drafted by the Eagles. yay.

Did we? I didn’t know CB was that much a need. And just saw a stat flash saying Johnson had three surgeries on his shoulder in the last four years. To me that’s a -yikes-.

Found another “big-school” comp to Kmet that used to play for the Bears. Michigan State TE Kellen Davis. Davis was 6’7” 265# to Kmets 6’6” 262#. Davis played through to his senior year where he compiled 513 yards and 6 TDs that year. Kmet played to his Jr year (really the only year he did anything) and complied 515 yards and 6 TDs.

Totally. Kind of disappointing really. Granted they need offensive help and with Burton leaving TE became more a position of need. Not sure why but I feel all they did was get another version Shaheen or even JP Holtz. Big body TE... how many TEs on the roster now?

So right about now Pace is panicking because Duggar is off the board and was taken by the ‘master’ Belichick. I’m sure Ryan was madly doing what he could to draft him only because he’s a D2 player. What will he do to compose himself??? We shall see...

But your beef isn’t with him as much as it is with Leno right? And really Massies been a long term serviceable (not great) Tackle. And like Adam says your guy would come in on the cheap. Probably wouldn’t be much competition between he and Massie, not long term anyhow.

Delpit, Higgins, Hurts or remaining top Oline candidate.

The more I read on the top two (in my book) Safety prospects remaining (McKinney and Delpit), I’m hoping for Delpit. Saw a breakdown on McKinney where they make a comparison to he and Clinton-Dix. Meaning he’s more a pass coverage Safety...not what the Bears need. Delpit’s draft card description includes phrases like: Physical demeanor will help a run defense Gets downhill into the fit before blocks get acclimated Willing to sell out his body to make a stop Rushes into backfield to set edges when needed Runs the alley on jet sweeps, stretch plays and receiver screens Coverage was more consistent on 2018 tape when healthy Offers physical detour for tight ends when pressing Covers with solid anticipation Heavy hitting is accounted for by receivers trespassing in the middle All traits needed for an ‘in the box Safety’ (and frankly i love). I’d say Delpit is 1a and Chinn might be 1b based on type and size of Safety needed.

Gotta say Adam, I’m a huge fan of this. Not as sure about Chinn as others although he’s listed (or at least played) a LB in some draft boards right? So that fits the model of a true SS. What I like is Hurts (a good developmental QB prospect), Chinn (or another top rated Safety) and really geeked about Moss. I’m hoping in real life that the Bears are able to get him. Something tells me he’s going to be a steal for a 4th or lower pick.

Be careful what you ask for. All these rounds, positions and swapping will make Pace accidentally trade next year’s number one for a “can’t miss” D2 Fullback that played TE in HS.

Delpit AND Winfield ahead of McKinney...interesting. ?

Looking at commentary by GB fans it sounds eerily similar to when Trubiksy was drafted. “We traded up to get ... him?” Is the common theme. He even wears #10.

Deshone Kizer (who was drafted in the second round by Cleveland in 2017) was traded to GB the next year. If you recall his first time playing for GB was the same game Mack made his debut for Chicago. Kizers play was so poor that Rodgers miraculously returned from what I was hoping was a game ending injury ... to beat the Bears. Kizer is currently on the Raiders roster I believe as the #3.
