This is the type of optimism I like. I think you’re right that as long as they follow your suggested game plan (fair balance of run) we will be pleasantly surprised. My concern will be with pass coverage but as long as Stafford isn’t allowed to get comfortable then it won’t be as much an issue.

To do what, play OT? It doesn't look like he's got a lot of experience there as he's listed as a Guard with some Center experience. From the cost perspective, Matt Skura became a FA from the Ravens earlier this preseason and is also listed as a Center/Guard. At the time I thought it would be worthwhile to consider looking at him but again, he's more an interior lineman than OT. And for the time being, he's currently on the Giants Practice Roster. I think Williams will contribute enough to the offense that we'd be better to keep him if we an, even if he is in the backup role.

Not that this is really game game day related but; Cutler is back. Well at least his number is. Danny T has decided to go single digits and chose the number he wore in pee-wee football. And I'd add that we do have a few FAs currently on the roster that are definitely keys to the team's overall success; Trevathan, ARob and Hicks among them. Jimmy Graham (one of the aforementioned "old guys") was the leading reciever with 9 TDs last season. Your time away has jaded you for sure. Here you used to be the most positive thinker among the group. Understandable considering what the team has gone through the last few years. However..."hope springs eternal" and I'm just glad to see the Bears back on TV. In the end, its a pleasant distraction.

I think he’s going to be a significant factor in the game. I’m hoping for great things for him. I think McVays ingenuity is old hat. I will say he’s much better than Nagy when it comes to play calling but the tools he has to work with aren’t what they once were. I agree that although Stafford is an improvement to Goff, he’s not a huge improvement. The big concerns I have are how well the OTs play, who plays CB opposite Johnson (frankly I’m still not sold on JJ - yet) and Jackson. He’s not been all that great since that one year (2018?). I’m glad Tashaun Gibson is back. And really I need to see how Desai calls a full defense. I get that he’s a “disciple” of Fangio but hell I’m a huge fan too and I’m pretty sure I couldn’t call a D as well as he does. One big overall plus is that they at least had a relatively full preseason. So we won’t see them waiting to gel as a team until week 5 or 6. And it’s less than a week until the first game! Im assuming you think they have Vildor as the CB2? I like the kid for it but he didn’t really show much during the preseason. Callahan would probably be better there at this point. Vildor might be too green still. Well that explains having seven ILBs. When did that happen? He looked great, for Danny T, during that last preseason game. He must've wore himself out.

Good question. Until today they had Hoyer but he went the same as Cam. All that remains is Stidham who is injured and will be out for many weeks. Would Foles succeed in NE?

Read that Trufant was missing from practice yesterday leading some to believe he would be released. Apparently it’s true.

I was thinking the same thing when I heard. And like Mongo said, his arm is no longer what it was...however, he is still relatively mobile where Foles is not. Depends on what type of offense the potential team may have and oline they have to run it. The price point will also be a factor.

This explains Danny’s playing time. Glad he made the most of it. But puts him on sort of a bubble. Biggs also noted TE Scooter Harrington was waived.

I did notice that Danny T. was playing for the first several plays last weekend. Until he got the turnover that is. Wondered why he and hardly anyone else from the ones (think Vildor was out there for awhile) played. Maybe to see between he and Ogletree will get the start? I agree with you, they compliment each other's skill sets, or offset each other rather. Ogletree is better in coverage and Danny is better at point of attack and plugging holes. I'd be glad to see both make it. Considering Ogletree was only there to visit friends then got an offer to play, I'd consider that fortunate for us. I'm also impressed with James. Especially, as you say, with him being a late addition. He didn't come in until after Butt abruptly retired if I remember correctly. He's developed a good chemistry with Fields. And I agree, with the four TEs you list, that will be a great room. You're right about Peters and Ifedi, both do need more time to get in the groove. Wasn't part of why Peters wanted out of Philly due to them wanting him to play Guard and also coming back from an injury... I'm hoping he's not another Orlando Pace 2.0 like someone else pointed out before. Great player, just hope its not all behind him.

So watching Foles play yesterday almost makes me miss him but then I realized he was playing against 3rd and 4th stringers who mostly won’t have a job by the end of the week. But man did he look good running that offense. How about Horstead? Might need to make a spot for him to stay? Probably drop JP Holtz to make room. My two fave players coming out of camp have to be Rodney Adams and Khyris Tonga. Have to believe both make it. After yesterday’s game I’m a bit concerned about Peters and Ifedi starting. Both got schooled pretty badly early on. Yes I know it’s preseason but man. Hopefully somebody cuts a solid OLT in the next few days.
