  1. Talk of Cutler coming back early is encouraging, but I'd prefer they error to the side of caution. Let McCown take the reigns a couple more weeks to ensure no lingering issues arise. I'd prefer he come back with a vengeance vs limping in to be tough.

    Bear Safeties

I get what you all are saying about the safeties, but I think it's a little deeper than them sucking. Last year, we were mostly optimistic at the future of our safeties. Conte looked like an up and coming FS, being able to play centerfield and make timely decisions. Wright was a guy we said, "if he can only stay healthy. We love the way he plays run support." My thought is that they have been asked to play differently than last year and it hasn't worked yet due to injuries, scheme, effectiveness of others or they just plain suck. I don't know, but definitely don't think we should cut bait on young guys that have upside. They are both cheap enough to get rid of anytime.(even if we re-sign Wright)
  3. Dilfer and Ray Lewis chimed in on the system as well as Young. Trestman is making his impression on me. Love it.
  4. You have that Lenny and Squiggy timing.

    Trade rumors

Would love Byrd, but at what price? Tuck could be had for a 6th or 7th at this stage in his carreer. They would both provide an upgrade and possible spark.
  6. You, Jerry and Lovie. Geez...
  7. That's old school the way I like it.
  8. Agreed on all. No way he's back in 2. Pure PR...
  9. Ha! We'll never agree on that.
  10. My expectation is that Mccown will be an OK stopgap QB in this system. What I am concerned about is the D. Injuries are piling up. Thank goodness for the bye week. Cutler or not, 4 wins for the remainder would not surprise me.(6 would astonish me)
  11. Yeah, GB may put up a ton of points on our D.
  12. Thanks for sharing. I see the pressures PFT is referring to, but we all knew that was to be expected. We've had 80% turnover on the OL, plus the TE and new offense. Continuity was discussed to death in the off season.(right Jason) What I am not seeing is the bonehead / OMG plays that I've been used to the last few years. This OL is pointing up. Give me a center prospect next year and I'm happy.
  13. One thing I've noticed over the years is that 1st round QB's, who don't make it with their original team, usually don't make it. Keep in mind that teams expect them to be a "franchise" QB when drafted that high. Now, if you are talking backup. I'm just ok with that. Generally, I look for a backup prospect to be someone that can be groomed to be the man. So, ideally for me, no.

    10:30 in 2nd Q

Agreed on the first part. At this point I could care less if the due can penetrate. I just want a stuffer.
  15. I'm thinking our LB's are needing too hit a little lower on Jacobs...
  16. They get a lot of late yards against prevent D. Hope that's the same tonight. Our D pressure is concerning to me though.
  17. Just got comp tickets and a downtown hotel from a vendor for the Dec 29 game. Great seats too!
  18. If he wasn't one infraction away from a year long suspension I'd give a 3rd. Dude is special. He gets the dropsies sometimes too.
  19. Yea, he made me look like a genius this week.
  20. It doesn't account for good pocket pressures, where the qb can step up either. That can result in big plays. That's the big difference this year.
  21. I thought I gave credit. Do you remember the 2 years before Peppers joined the team? Urlacher was still playing at a Pro Bowl level and because we had a new coordinator and could not generate a pass rush, the defense sucked. Julius Peppers arrives and the same defense is suddenly good. I simply think that is the issue. If our DL can pressure the QB, we should be fine. If not, we are going to be big big trouble.
  22. I pretty much agree.
