I know there are varying opinions on whether the Bears should spend the #3 pick on a QB. I also know there are a ton of mocks that have the QBs going all over the place. Often I've seen a "top 3" QB drop into the second round. Assuming the Bears pass on QB in the 1st, and one of the top 3 QBs slide, is it a guarantee that the Bears pick said QB if he fell to them? If somehow Trubisky (highly unlikely), Watson (unlikely), or Kizer (fairly unlikely) fell to the Bears in the 2nd round, I think it's a 100% guarantee that the Bears would have to draft said QB. Agree?

First of all, the Bears staff knows more about the health of Kevin White than anyone else. So I'll hope for now he's healthy. If so, the Bears suddenly have turned a position of question into a position of perceived strength. -White (6'3", 216lbs) will be presumably be the split end (X). He's big enough and fast enough to shake off press coverage from the line. He's also the most athletic, and the guy who likely gets the one on one ball when Glennon is under fire. -Wright (5'10, 191lbs) seems perfectly suited for the slot (Y). When he was under Loggains in TN, he worked slot and put up 94 catches for over 1000 yards. That likely gives him the leg up in the slot position. -Meredith (6'3", 207lbs) had production last year that can't be ignored. He'll likely play the flanker (Z) role, getting in motion off the line, attempting to work various routes with his 4.42 speed and good change of direction. That leaves Wheaton (5'11, 189lbs) as the viable starter, but odd man out in my opinion. He mostly worked slot with Pittsburgh, but I can't see him beating out Wright because of the previous production and familiarity with Loggains. Wheaton could potentially also fill in at the Z, but Meredith likely has the initial starting nod. All that said, I think the Bears have a very solid group of WRs providing there are not a rash of injuries.

I agree, except for the Safety. I'm guessing you were thinking of Adams or Hooker, and associated him with Eric Reid of the Niners?

Yeah, this one was easy. Cheap player, busts his butt on special teams, and does an OK job when filling in at LB.

Yes. I think it has to constantly be in Pace's mind. Which is why I'm fully prepared to be upset during the first round of the draft. Allen is who I want, not who I think Pace will pick.

We are pretty much on the same sheet. I figure Whitehair at C is an A-, and Leno at T is a D+ or C-. If Grasu and Whitehair can be a C+ or B- at C and T, respectively, the overall net gain isn't much, but the consistency improves.

Nice! I don't know how I feel about Webb in the 5th being the potential successor to glennon, but if the rest pans out it might not matter.

It's definitely closer than I realized in terms of stats. I admit to a SEC bias given my geography, but I watched a few Stanford games and was never wowed by Thomas. Plus, the SEC competition is just overall better, IMO. And while they may be popularity contests, Allen won a slew of awards.

I've been saying the same thing for a while. If Grasu is better at C than Leno is at T, it's a good move. The fact that Whitehair played T in college makes the move even easier. And since Whitehair adjusted so quickly to a new position, as a rookie in the NFL, it gives a lot of confidence that he'd make just great of a transition out to his natural position.

I would absolutely HAAAAATE an OJ Howard pick, because it would require a late first rounder or early second rounder. TE is not that big of a position of need or impact. On top of that, the Bears need far more players at other positions. And this is a crazy deep TE draft, which would make the pick that much worse.

Every year the draft process produces a guy who goes from really good to great, for no other reason than people harping on tape or blowing a gasket about the combine. The simple fact is, Thomas didn't produce as well as Allen, and didn't look as good as Allen. If Garrett is gone - I'm hoping Mongo is right and Cleveland screws the pooch - then the only 3-4DE that's worth the #3 pick is Allen. Otherwise, it should be a S, QB, or trade.

The Bears have a lot of cash left and the choices are dwindling. WR is a huge need. Why aren't the Bears linked to Michael Floyd? I'd love to see him replace Jeffery.

Forte had 1900 yards and 12 TDs! What's so difficult to get about that? That's definitely better than Howard's rookie season.

What are you talking about? He went for over 800 yards rushing, over a 1000 all purpose yards, and 8 TDs on one of the worst offenses in the NFL. It's more likely he would have had a resurgent year if he stayed with the Bears, because their stats on runs up the middle were greatly improved with the addition of Whitehair.

Money was not mentioned. The fact is, an unknown can't be used to prove a point, and Forte did ha se a better year once.

That's twisted logic. You can't know what would have happened. Forte could have had a great year, similar to Howard, and there is absolutely no way to know who who have been drafted instead of Howard. Could have been Joe Haeg and we wouldn't need a tackle. Or Tyreek Hill, and the return game would be solved.

I'd hate to see Goldman moved outside. He does not have the speed or lateral mobility for the 5T.

He was released and appears to be an absolute locker room treasure. And that's on top of being a damn fine fit for the 3-4. His stats drop off is directly related to the move to a 4-3. He could be a great mid-range guy. Of course, OLB is about the last position of need, so there is that.

Yeah, that one pisses me off. The Bears should have thrown the house at AJ Bouye once option 1 was off the table.
