Agree. Now, can we live up to the hype?
-
I agree. We get a proven player and do not take the risk that always goes with draft picks, from the first round especially. We now can use the money that would have been spent on a risk to get players that are proven and also to reward players that we have that we want to keep. It was a win-win deal.

Maybe Brian Url will get the idea and step up on D. I really doubt it, though. Briggs could be the man, but our D seems to be loadede with guys who are great individual players who also like to playwith other individual players. None have yet to stand out as a leader who rallies the rest of the team when necessary.

That, plus the fact that Turner loves to use the QB to PASS. I'd expect to see alot more passing attempts from our O, and fewer roll-overs when we have third an long. We can now get those done with Cutler back there.
-
The Bears as an offense first team?! Now that would take a bit to get used to, but I would like to have that option for once.
-
You got that right! Lovie NOW needs to get it done!
-
We should carve that one in stone and wait a few months (days, weeks?) for the old Nfo to resurface! LOL
-
Big bucks that can be used on vets, not on unproven roolies. Great move, IMdO. Good luck Kyle!
-
Win it all in 2009!
-
Just think, A FRANCHISE QB in Blue and Orange!!!
-
OMG!!! Are we going to rock?! Now Hester can get the ball and Olsen can step it up. And Forte? Man, he should get some space for a great second year!
-
Hey, today is my birthday, and I've heard 'em all, so no surprise here OmahaBear!

If Pace is being signed to move Williams over to RT, forget it. Positions are not interchangeable, and we want Williams, our first round pick, to start earning his $, getting into the OL for a long run at it. If Pace is being used as a Rt, the yeah, sign him. But I hope that, if we do sign him, that it doesn't mean we ignore the OL on day one of the draft. That would be a mistake, IMdO.
-
Agree. If Sanchez is there at 18 I'd grab him. He can be the no.2 behind Orton, after giving him his shot in TC and Pre-Season.
-
IF we do sign Pace, then mark OL off the draft list. And yeah, it would mean that JA is living in the past with OL and not even dealing correctly with the future. Pace doesn't fill me with much confidence at this point in his career.
-
I like Britton, but just think that JA has decided that he has other options now that Shaffer is at RT. I'd say we take WR first and then BPA second--hopefully, for me, an OL.
-
Dreaming is a good thing. I too would love to see it happen. How much better would our O be if the line were solid? Keep on dreaming

". . .getting cynical"??!! Heck, I have been cynical ever since Jimmy Mac was thrown to the ground by that Pucker schmuck and we got bounced from the playoffs. That was the start of cynicism form me. But yes, I feel we have improved the OL with Omiyale and Schaffer, "vastly" is yet to be seen. But I do feel better now that at the beginning of the month. Oh, and I'm sure that Angelo is feeling he's solved the OL and he's already penciled in the seventh round picks for OL, or he's lining up some UDFA for his speed dial. He may have given himself (and the team) a great opportunity to draft the best OT or OG, but the ole cynicism says he feels it would be overkill and moves on, no matter who is there when we pick in rd. 1 or 2.
-
Thought it, but didn't want to say it. My gosh, do we have do do this again JA? Draft to BUILD the team, going after guys that can help now and also will keep us out of having to draft for need every frickin' year.
-
I think that Omiyale was brought in as a OG and they'll move him there and Schafer is now the starting RT. I hope JA still sees that we need to get a quality OL in the draft for our future, and at least in the second or thrid rd. now. All depends, though, on BPA when we pick at 18. QB, WR OT, DE? It does give us some options, though.
-
I only beat you after siging in and posting at lightening speed! And yes, I still want us to draft an OL, a OT ion the first day and also add a WR.

As per PFFT: Posted by Mike Florio on March 25, 2009, 4:39 p.m. Earlier this month, the Browns cut right tackle Kevin Shaffer. To potentially replace him, they signed Bears free-agent tackle John St. Clair. And, of course, the Bears have now replaced St. Clair by signing Shaffer. The Bears announced the transaction moments ago. It’s a three-year deal. Shaffer has started all but two games over the past five seasons, which include his three-year tenure in Cleveland and the back half of his four seasons with the Falcons.>

Plan B JA!? FA or draft? It sucks, but it has happened, so like you said Connorbear--"Time to move on."
-
Ah, another Bear dream! Dream on!
-
If, by some wierd happening, like the earth changes it's axis, and we would get Cutler, I could see Holt wanting to come here. But I jut don't see JA going for Cutler when we have so many holes that we've got to plug with the draft, now that we've been sitting on our butts in FA.
