  1. Jason...you are a convincing...you sold me.
  2. They just traded Johnathan Cooper to the Pats (former 1st round pick who sucked) and last years first round pick was inactive the whole year. People would be calling for Pace's head if he had those type of 1st round failures.
  3. I don't think they are even comparable backs. Elliot is so much more talented. Huge gap . I also have limited faith in the ability to truly evaluate a Bama back. They play behind massive lines and thus you really have a hard time being able to see if they truly can deal with the size of holes and gaps in the NFL. Elliot was so freaking complete. A lot of really successful people rated him as the best back to be out in years. You have the guy who had Faulk compare him with Faulk. Comparisons to Ladamian Tomilson.
  4. I agree and when I think of Houston and Young, while I think they are both effective players, neither of them have a ton of speed and given the era of passing and the need for the LB's to cover, speed is king, and I want to see this d loaded with athletes. Plus, McPhee has had injuries in his career and its the NFL, guys will get hurt...really like this pick and I still would be fully on board with Jack or Smith (albeit, would not be okay taking Smith in the 2nd). I presume we will see Bears go Dline in the 2nd, but you have to wonder if they look RB or QB or S.
  5. Dang...I was fully on Nkemdiche board. Shoot. Now I'm thinking our most likely pick would be Von Bell, safety from OSU. I think he'd look really good on the Bears.
  6. Very much a lot of boom / bust risk here.
  7. Remember, Giants wanted him and we clearly had him above other people as well. Compare what we gave up to move up vs. what the Titans gave up (they gave up a 2nd rounder plus and got Conklin).
  8. Ashawn would be awesome too or Jack. I am pretty sure Nkemdiche would be there and I agree with you, I'd love for them to add another athlete.
  9. Tunsil wasn't going to either the Bucs or Giants so there was no need to get him. He'd have been there. Giants had been pretty open in past day or two that they had narrowed the choice to Floyd. All of there football people were in agreement, with only the owner leaning towards Conklin (who was already off the board).
  10. Agree...two totally different players. I do agree Floyd has a lack of stats, but supposedly part of that was the system. Bottom line, if the Bears wanted him, they paid a relatively cheap price to jump the Giants. By all accounts the Giants football people had pegged FLoyd as there guy, so for those saying why did we do it, its pretty clear..we did it because that is who the Giants were going to take and we liked him more than anyone else on the board. 4th rounder to get the preferred guy, is well worth it, imo. Now the real work for Floyd and the coaching staff begins...can they make him a sane version of Aldon Smith or even something close to 85% of that and that would be pretty good. He was one of the few players on the board who I thought had the raw talent to be an explosive pass rusher.
  11. Niners are going to go Buckner, right?
  12. By the way, do the Titans end up cutting a deal with us (for a tackle).
  13. Well now Buckner might be there. Elliot is off the board.
  14. Cowboys very well might take him. I think if anything, it pretty much guarantees one of Stanley / Tunsill is available @ 11.
  15. I hadn't either. So now I fully am convinced that one of the tackles is falling to the Bears. Might increase chances of Elliot falling as well. Buckner to the Cowboys or are they going Ramsey? God I'd love Ramsey to slide to Bears.
  16. Goff & Wentz officially off the board @ 1 & 2, respectively. I think something crazy happens and we end up with Bosa or Lynch. Realistically, I think we'll take the Dlineman from Louisville.
  17. Gabriel and Lemming have both indicated Rankins is the Bears guy.
  18. Elliot was on Dan Patrick this AM and indicated that he thinks the Bears absolutely love him.
  19. IF Elliot is there, there is no way they are passing them (outside of Bosa / Buckner being on the board).
  20. Marlin Jackson clinched them playing in the superbowl and was a solid starter for them for a number of years before getting injured. He than signed with the Eagles as a FA and tore his achilles. I honestly don't understand what some of you expect, but look at even the great teams and they miss at a pretty high percentage.
  21. Oh I fully agree, if Buckner and Bosa are on the board and we picked Elliot, I would be absolutely upset. That said, I find it highly unlikely that either Buckner / Bosa will be available when we pick. A week ago, I'd have put the odds at .1% that we'd have a shot at them at 11, now I would say maybe we have a 5% shot one of them falls. But if Bucker and Bosa are off the board and Elliot is there, to be frank, he is in a different class vs. whomever else I project to be available @ 11. None of the LT's grade out as stud LT's...both have issue and Stanley has fallen a lot recently. I'm a huge fan of OT so I'm still fine with it, especially if none of Buckner / Bosa / Elliot are there (which is by far the most likely scenario, imo) and instead we are looking at one of the LT's or reaching for a LB (unless of course Myles Jack falls to us) or reaching a bit for a CB (but hey, its a need so I'm okay with it). Reality is the talent in this draft falls pretty significantly after the 8th or so player and we are picking 3 spots down from that.
  22. The draft grade on the DE / OLB and even CB just don't even compare. Ezekiel is head and shoulders above everyone else. By the way, it is likely a moot point as it seem highly probable that either the current Browns team or the former Browns (Ravens) team drafts Ezekiel.
  23. I don't know if he can get that type of money long-term (given where we are in FA and with most teams having used up there cap space). I'm intrigued but I didn't realize he was already 28. It also seems to me that a lot of big money FA CB signings tend to bust. I don't know what it is about CB's, but I figure it must have to deal with the variety of schemes, etc. That said, Norman seems like one of those guys who isn't a scheme CB and should fit anywhere. I'd prefer Wilkerson if they were both on the market (given Wilkerson's age and his ability to disrupt the line and pressure the QB) but Norman is a premium DB and we could use improvements in the secondary. That said, I don't see Bears sniffing unless he's willing to go shorter-term and I can't imagine that happening (his current asking price is extremely expensive).
