Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter Former Cardinals TE Jermaine Gresham on way to visit Bears, who are shopping Martellus Bennett.
-
He's visiting tomorrow. Per Biggs.

I have a good relationship with someone close to Weddle. Weddle wants to stay on the west and is interested in Raiders. Overall though, wants to play for contender and Cowboys were also on the radar. No mention of the Bears. Not to say something couldn't come up down the road.

Chris Emma @CEmma670 7m7 minutes ago I'm told the Bears have not engaged in contact with free-agent safety Eric Weddle. Three-time Pro Bowl player, but 30 years old.
-
Been told that #Packers QB Scott Tolzien is making a visit to the #Colts today. The #Bears are also showing interest in him.

Easily outperformed? When has Miller put up pro bowl numbers over a full season. Miller benefited significantly from one broken play by the Rams (yes, he ran really fast...but it was a wide open TD and Bennett gets a TD on that play as do a lot of TE's in this leauge. You continue to point to an absurdly small sample size for a guy who is significantly older than our pro bowl TE who has put up top of the league numbers the past few years and was again on pace to put up strong receiving numbers. Guy has also played through some significant injuries as well in the past and is a total playmaker. This is not me knocking Miller, like him as a backup, but you are really letting a small sample size (and not a small sample size from a rookie or some young up and comer, which I can kind of understand) cloud your judgement for a guy who has a long sample size of not playing and/or being a backup.

Watch the Bears deal Cutler to the Niners for their 1st round pick.

Aaron Leming @AaronLemingNFL Aaron Leming Retweeted Daniel Boaz David Bruton & Walter Thurmond are two names I have heard that the #Bears have talked to.

Akiem Hicks - DL - Patriots Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times hears the Bears are "working toward a possible face-to-face meeting" with free agent DT Akiem Hicks. That meeting could happen as early as Thursday. ESPN Patriots reporter Mike Reiss predicted the Bears would make a play for Hicks, who already knows GM Ryan Pace from their time together in New Orleans. Hicks earned PFF's 14th-highest DT grade out of 70 qualifiers last year while backing up Malcolm Brown and Alan Branch.

Marc Mariani - WR - Bears At least four teams have shown interest in free agent WR Marc Mariani. Chicago is one of those teams. Mariani was forced into a bigger role last year because of injuries to Alshon Jeffery and Eddie Royal. He managed 22 catches for 300 yards over the course of 535 offensive snaps. Even in a thin wide receiver market, it shouldn't cost the Bears much to keep him.

Chris Emma @CEmma670 3m3 minutes ago Chris Emma Retweeted 23Grand Hicks may sign by tomorrow. Bears are among the favorites to land him.
-
Brad Biggs @BradBiggs Sounds like #Bears could be lining up a visit for DL Akiem Hicks. GM Ryan Pace knows him well but Fox/Fangio might want to meet him.
-
Aaron Leming is pretty confident (on the radio right now) that Zach Miller will be re-signed.
-
You can choose to apply portions to this year's cap (signing bonus, etc).
-
I was probably too generous with shut down corner, but in relation to the pourous secondary we saw the past two years, Porter's above average play looked so much better, haha. I should also point out Fuller did seem to make some strides later in the year. Hopefully with a full year in the new system under his belt, we can see Fuller become a real player.
-
Nope, i did not. By the way, I'm not of the belief that we will get a ton for Bennett. I think we get a 6th rounder at best. When it came to B, I thought he was much more of a malcontent than Marty and had a bigger history of it than Marty. That said, if Marty truly is a giant pain and it is unsolveable, than it is time to move on. However, I hate the thought of us using a high pick on a TE. Do we look at Vernon Davis? He's about the last quality TE out there and he's clearly past his prime.
-
Agree. Wish Matt all the best.
-
Honestly, with all of our cap space, I don't quite get why we wouldn't have front-loaded the deal a bit more. That said, love the numbers.
-
I realize you love ripping on Marty, but Marty is a better blocker than Dwayne Allen or Fleener and basically when healthy put up combined the same numbers two of them did. Guy is a top 3, worse case, top 5 TE in this league. All that said, you say he's not worth any of this and than say we can get massive value for him. Reality is, guys who are holding out, don't get traded for much because the Bears have zero leverage in this situation and other teams know it.
-
Marty has to be licking his chops. He is so much better than these guys. 5 years 36 million for Fleener.
-
Pretty much nothing left on the FA TE market (outside of our own guy). If we are moving Marty, it basically means we have to draft a TE (unless we move him for another teams TE). Mike Garafolo @MikeGarafolo TE Coby Fleener to the Saints. Big target for Drew Brees.
-
Got to pay Kyle Long, in addition, I presume we will pay some other players on our roster. Additionally, we are targeting safety, TE, and DE and I presume the DE we sign gets in the 6-8M/yr mark. I also don't think we need to spend every penny via FA. We could also structure deals to frontload things to ensure we have flexibility in latter years.
-
I felt like he made a ton of big plays. He was a legit shut down corner when I watched him. Was thoroughly impressed with how many times he just swatted the ball away or made a physical play. Was like no other db on our team (outside of Amos who was solid for a rookie).

Massie has had some off the field issues. When arrested he had indicated he has been intoxicated for 10 years, but noted he is not an alcoholic. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/...rt-on-his-team/
-
Brad Biggs @BradBiggs 2m2 minutes ago As @JasonColeBR said, source indicates initial #Bears plan is to play Massie at RT, slide Kyle Long back to RG and keep Charles Leno at LT.
