As always, thanks again Loyd Thomas for your brilliant cap insight. Oustanding. As per LT, cutting Darwin Walker saved us 6,350,000 (I double checked that and much to my surprise, my commas are in the correct spot.) Dumping Fred Miller netted another 3,404,560. Alas Moose only saved us 100,000 (My wife will no longer have to ask, "Why are they booing?") Before this, our free cap space was 22,490,133. Arch will eventually cut, rounding up (and being to lazy to use the calculator, that leaves us with approximately 32 million to spend. Wow. (Thanks again LT) So where do we spend our money?

Today I am reading that we not only want to re-sign Rex, but that we are confident we will. What I do not understand is, why the hell would Rex want to come back? Even more questionable, why would Rex want to re-sign w/ us before FA begins. 1. Rex has been shredded by his own fans and media in Chicago. 2. The market this year for QBs is so bad, Rex would likely be the top of the heap. 3. We are not going to offer a long term deal, and thus Rex would be banking on having a great year then hitting FA hot, but, (a) While we all hope for better, we have not today improve the OL a bit, and have in fact created a pair of holes ( We have just sen…

It's awesome we've inked Briggs. Yet our weakness has been offense, and so far the only thing we've done is dump 2 o-lineman, and lose our best WR to a division rival. Don't we have to bring a play-maker in here? Assuming we're only going to pay one (we still need to sign an offensive guard) would you rather have Michael Turner or Bryan Johnson? These are the two best available at their positions. I hope like hell we're able to land one of the two. No way we'd get both (or one for that matter.)

Just realized that tonight, I made the 53 man roster. Now I have two questions. First, where is my money. If I do not get my guaranteed check in the mail, I will have no alternative other than to hire Rosenarce to represent me. Second, just curious, as it got me wondering, what post numbers equal vaiours levels. After 53 man roster, do you have starter? Then pro bowl? League MVP? Hall of fame? Just curious? Unless Crackerdog returns, I doubt I can make the next level, at least not this month , but I am curious.

Let's say the draft unfolds like this (unlikely maybe, but not unthinkable): 1) Dolphins - Jake Long, OT, Michigan 2) Rams - Chris Long, DE, Virginia 3) Falcons - Glenn Dorsey, DT, LSU 4) Raiders - Sedrick Ellis, DT, USC 5) Chiefs - Matt Ryan, QB, Boston College 6) Jets - Vernon Gholston, DE/OLB, Ohio State Or something like that. So, at #7, both Darren McFadden and Ryan Clady are available, and the Patriots are more than willing to move down. A swap of #14, #44 & #75 to the Patriots and #7 & #63 to the Bears works almost exactly in the pick value chart (1775 to 1776). 1. Do you move up? 2. If so, do you take Clady or McFadden (or so…

Pre-Draft: "Bottom line: Monk is one of the biggest wide receiver prospects in the 2008 senior class, he moves well for his size and he's just fast enough to stretch the field. In fact, he projected to go as early as the third round at the start of the season but injuries hindered him all year and he didn't show the same knack for making big plays when he was on the field. At this point, Monk projects as a sixth or seventh round pick." 7th round pick, steal for sure. Is the hype going to show in the NFL though? Discuss.

He wasn't crying over the honor of running in the city where Walter Payton ran or playing for a proud franchise that reveres its football stars or any other reason he has offered the past three years. No, Cedric Benson cried on the day of the NFL draft in 2005 because he was upset the Bears took him with the fourth overall selection. Benson was bugged that Jerry Angelo decided to draft him despite Benson's representatives making clear in a last-minute phone call that they and the Bears weren't on the same page regarding fundame…

In watching past games with the Bears against the Saints Bentley looked very good. Now I don't know how good he is after being injuried but he was good in the past. This brings me to our Oline. Can he play guard? Yes he can. But the qustion is do we need him? We drafted Adams and we have Garza, Metcalf Beekman,Balogh, Barton and Oakley in the roster. After watching last years line I still think Garza is weak on the right side at RG, Metcalf look better playing on the right side than the left and we don't know what we have in the other players. I think that not playing Beekman last year tells me that something is wrong with his game. How would this sound. Williams = …

On another board someone brought up trading Young and cutting Houston. I thought we should hang onto the both of them as I thought both had a good year. I decided to look up some numbers, and they were A LOT better than I thought. The 2 of them combined for 13.5 sacks in 857 snaps. The 13.5 sacks would have been good for 4th in the league, and for comparisons sake, Watt and Mack who were 1 and 2 in the league in sacks both played over 900 snaps. That duo was really underrated.

From profootballrumors: "Though Jets general manager Mike Maccagnan has said he is not “actively pursuing” a trade involving defensive ed Muhammad Wilkerson, Cimini says the Bears are a “team to watch” as the draft approaches, noting that New York would instantly accept an offer of the No. 11 overall pick. Wilkerson, who was designated as the Jets’ franchise player, can be assigned the franchise tag again in 2017, essentially allowing Gang Green to lock him up for $34.5MM over two years." I love the idea of getting him and signing him to a long term deal. We have plenty of cap space and he will only be 27 in October. That being said, I hate the idea of giving up t…

Fudge Pack favored by 10? Lacy out. QB comparison (Guess who): 109-181, 1170 yards, 6.46 AVG, 10 TD, 4 INT, 5 FUM, 88.4 Rating 130-189, 1396 yards, 7.29 AVG, 6 TD, 0 INT, 3 FUM, 100.8 Rating Just thinking of postgame implications. Is Fox on the hot seat if we go to 1-6 with Minnesota and a bye looming? If we go to 1-7, does he get axed? How about Loggains? Do the Bears make any coaching changes if we lose against GB or MIN or both? We are 2-9 in out last 11 games dating back to last season (or 3-10 in our last 13).

I've been thinking about the concept of cohesion via draft lately. With this draft, there are several scenarios where players could be drafted to create immediate cohesion, assuming that type of bond carries over to the pros. Do you believe it works? Or does the NFL speed/ability difference make the cohesion of rookie opponents negligible? For instance, if the Bears were to draft: RD2: Sidney Jones, CB, Wash RD3: Budda Baker, S, Wash RD4: Kevin King, CB, Wash or RD1: Mitch Trubisky, QB, UNC RD4: Ryan Switzer, WR, UNC or RD1: Jonathan Allen, DE, Bama RD3: Tim Williams, OLB, Bama RD4: Eddie Jackson, S, Bama RD5: Dalvin Tomlinson, DE/NT…

  19. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2017/...5-million-deal/ Report: Bears, Mike Glennon to sign three-year, $43.5 million deal Posted by Michael David Smith on March 9, 2017, 7:37 AM EST Getty Images The Bears and Mike Glennon appear to be on the verge of a deal that will make Glennon the team’s starting quarterback, at a salary that sounds like a lot but is lower than most starting quarterbacks make. Glennon is expected to get a three-year deal with an annual average of $14.5 million, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. That puts Glennon’s total deal at $43.5 million, although there’s no word on how much of that is guaranteed and no other details abo…

  20. http://walterfootball.com/draft2017charlie.php 1-Jonathan Allen DE- The 5T can really tip the scale for making Chicagos front 7 elite 2-Deshaun Watson QB- they feel he is still over drafted here, but it would be a steal in my book 3-Zay Jones WR- With the loss of AJ and unknown of White, I can see this pick. Would be ok 4-Jeremy Sprinkle TE-Early on I was big on Sprinkle as all around TE 4-Brenden Langley CB-Dont know much on him but seems like a good prospect. I didn't catch were Jordan Leggett went, but could pair him up with Watson if he is available. Would also consider OLB or S round 3 if a stud is still there.
