Bears | Martz envisions Hester as a dominant slot receiver Comment (0) Tue, 09 Feb 2010 09:00:21 -0800 Brad Biggs, of the Chicago Tribune, reports Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Mike Martz said during a radio interview that he envisions WR Devin Hester as a dominant slot receiver, a shift that could result in him being removed from the starting lineup. However, Martz could utilize plenty of three-wide receiver sets, which would provide Hester with ample opportunity to start. "Devin Hester in that role could just be stupid good, if that makes sense to you," Martz said. "What we can do with him inside, the matchups we can get with him on third corners, saf…

The OC is horrible. He doesn't have a clue how to call a game and take advantage of the opponent's weakness. And he sure as hell doesn't have a clue how to use his players to maximize their talents. The QB is bad. He doesn't seem to understand how to read defenses, and he can't throw the long ball. The WRs are bad. Drops and bad routes. The OL is bad. The don't open gaping holes for the running game, yet they don't pass block great either. Perplexing. The TEs and RBs are about the only thing worthwhile. Chuck it all.

Rosenbloom has a nice take http://www.chicagotribune.com/site/newspap...0,5420889.story I've been to Family Night (it sucks, but that's besides the point) I'm pissed. How is this possible? The field hasn't been used since July 22 for the stupid soccer game. But it's not ready . . . The Bears have to be accountable in all this. This didn't get cancelled until 5:30. We had nobody there? What an embarrassment. The only silver lining is that people will be pissed off enough to see a change.

if you look closely you can see John Madden kissing his butt. I kind of get the choice but at the same time I don't get it. It's always been a current player but I guess it makes sense that Madden would choose Favre for the cover. What's he going to talk about now that his true love has left the game?

Big money and Jets back out. So they DRCF and Namdi at CB

trade a 3rd for Chad Johnson right NOW Jerry http://www.footballsfuture.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=217617

According to NFL Network's Adam Schefter, DT Albert Haynesworth will not re-sign with the Titans before testing the free agent market. Haynesworth obviously wasn't satisfied with the progress of contract talks, and this news significantly decreases the odds that he will return to the Titans. Perhaps the most disruptive defense player in the NFL the past two seasons, Haynesworth is sure to draw a monster contract on the open market. The Titans would have to match the highest offer now that their exclusive negotiating window is closed

So, what is wrong with our Bears? Is this game a one-off F£££ up, or an indication of deeper problems? Will Lovie and company ever be able to deliver another Super Bowl? Is there any reason to keep watching this year....lol.?

Some fairly impressive numbers from the Bears defense. In general, they are clearly better than last year and have improved even more since players got healthy and the acquisition of Sweat. Both Sweat and Edwards are playing at Pro Bowl levels. #1 against the Run (79 yds/game) #3 Interceptions (13) #9 Total Yards Allowed (318 yds/game) #11 Turnovers (20) #16 Passes Defended (50) #19 Defensive DVOA (last season they finished #32) #22 against the Pass (248yds/game) TJ Edwards #2 in tackles (125), also has 2 sacks, 2 INT, and 1 FF Jaylon Johnson #7T in interceptions (3) Montez Sweat #12 in sacks (9), (4g, 2.5 sack…

I think that it is panning out very well: - Olsen + (looks to be breaking out) - Bazuin - (el busto) - Okwo - (el busto but Angelo did go get Nick Roach who has looked very good on special teams) - Wolfe + (leads special teams in tackles this yr; just scored his 1st TD) - Payne + (starting and leading the team in tackles and interceptions) - Graham + (has started last 3 games and is a special teams stud) - McBride + (started 9 games last yr and did a very good job in relief last week) - Bryant - (el busto - decided he did not want to play football) Angelo also picked up Tonei who looked good at the end of last yr. I realize …

BackHomeSearch Sports Memo to Bears, Cutler: Go for it! Conservative play-calling on winning drive a downer CommentsSeptember 22, 2009BY CAROL SLEZAK Sun-Times ColumnistIhate to complain after a big Bears win, or for that matter after any Bears win, but what about that final drive? Was anyone else frustrated by the conservative play-calling down the stretch? The game was tied and the Bears had the ball at their 33-yard line with just over three minutes left, and -- silly me -- I expected them to go for it. Isn't that why they brought Jay Cutler to town? Any quarterback can hand the ball off to a running back for a one-yard gain. Any quarterback can …

I swear it seems like Tillman has missed 1/2 of camp, and all that is said is "he was excused for personal reasons". Articles say no one is talking, and frankly, the papers are not making an issue of it, almost like they know what is up themselves, and are showing respect. While I am not trying to be disrespectful, what the hell is going on? Reading the camp report from last night, I saw where Tillman was once again excused for personal reasons. Living in Dallas, I get little local stuff, and was wondering if any of you living in Chicago have heard even rumors what is up. Privacy is one thing, but this isn't a guy missing a couple practices. I really think…

Does anyone else here think its possible that we may try to somehow acquire first day picks from someone, saving our cap space for this year on first day rookie deals and the potential need to re-up Orton? It seems rather odd that we dont appear to be using any of the cap space, and I dont see anyone on the new contract list other than the potential for Orton to get one. Other guys who appear to be in last years of deals are Mark Anderson, Dusty, AP, Ogunleye and Daniel Manning. If it IS possible...or you think it could be...who could we move on draft day to get picks in the 1st 2nd or 3rd rounds? I personally cant think of anyone we could offload of value oth…

I think that most of our draft picks will be on defense. Our DC will take what we get in the draft along with the pieces we have to form whatever defense the talent allows. I think they fit some pieces in from free agency. DL-With Houston and Young coming back from injuries it muddles the expectations of pieces we have that will fit in to the new scheme on defense. Bass and Washington will be tried at OLB so Houston, maybe Sutton are the only two DE types we have on the roster. We dont have the true NT type but think with Ratliff and Furgeson we have two that could play the role. Paea- was our best DL last year but doubt if he can play the DE sp…

Little bored this Saturday playing mock drafts and reading. My question is what two players or positions do you think will be best for the Bears going into 2020 and beyond to draft in Round 2 if we cannot trade back? My two with some luck: OT- Austin Jackson OT USC - there seem to be a decent amount in this draft, one could fall? I could live with a Prince Tego-Whanago also OLB- Terrell Lewis OLB ALA- also a player I see late RD1 early Rd 2. We did sign Quinn, but rotation and freshness keeps the pressure on. If he is available, the Bears need another body. Let's see what two players could boosts our chances.

I got to thinking he'd have to have a shot to be on the cover. He's a game breaker and makes an impact on the game by just being there. Do you believe in the Madden Curse?

Although it's not likely cause of a lot of trades and a certain someone falling It'd be great for us if this is the way it went next weekend. http://forums.about.com/n/pfx/forum.aspx?t...l&tid=64068
