I am disappointed at missing out on one big signing of a playmaker, but lets look at last year first. Everybody got excited at signing Trevathan but we missed out on Malik Jackson and Javous Jenkins, I dont remember people complaining much. We signed Hicks, Freeman and Sitton that all made our team better but I dont remember people celebrating such great free agents. Massie ended up being an okay signing. Hicks was close to being a pro bowl player, Sitton did make the pro bowl and Freeman played like a stud while Trevathan got hurt. On day one we didnt get blowed away but if we look back to last year, I would have to say we did quite well. You can not…

Pace must be on Sprint, because he is seriously whiffing or not even attempting any of these signings. I guess we are happy with our OLine.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2017/...5-million-deal/ Report: Bears, Mike Glennon to sign three-year, $43.5 million deal Posted by Michael David Smith on March 9, 2017, 7:37 AM EST Getty Images The Bears and Mike Glennon appear to be on the verge of a deal that will make Glennon the team’s starting quarterback, at a salary that sounds like a lot but is lower than most starting quarterbacks make. Glennon is expected to get a three-year deal with an annual average of $14.5 million, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. That puts Glennon’s total deal at $43.5 million, although there’s no word on how much of that is guaranteed and no other details abo…

Breaking: Washington signs WR Terrelle Pryor to a one-year, $8 million contract. (via @AdamSchefter) Did we even attempt to sign Pryor? Was $8mil on a one-year deal too rich for us?

I've been a Bears fan a very long time. I'm on this board 5times a week. But I hardly ever post. But these last 24hrs have been crazy. See….I remember the years without a QB. I remember going every year with 2-3 subpar QB's rotating the starting spot almost on a weekly basis. As horrible of a season Jay Cutler had last year, he is still the best QB available. We don't have one. I understand why they let him go to most Bears fan's applause. But what are we replacing him with??? Everyone hated Brandon Marshall, complained about Alshon and didn't like Bennett's abrasiveness. But, I think we all know our team would be far more competitive with them still on the ro…

#Bears are signing K Connor Barth back on a 1-year contract. He's getting $155K guaranteed. https://twitter.com/BradBiggs/status/840263479110053889 Scratch Kicker off the list for the draft, unless maybe a UDFA.

After some of the initial signings came in, it was clear that the Bears had a hard stance on overpaying and were not going to budge on value, regardless of the player or need. I assumed we would pay whatever it took to bring in some of the top FA's, but after each signing, it was clear what that the Bears were not going to give out long term deals that would hurt the club in the long-term. We are currently in full rebuild mode. Any free agent now is just a gap filler as we replenish through the draft, but we have to understand we are still 2-3 years away from competing realistically. I think we will always be competitive, but I am not expecting much more than a 5-win seas…

He was released and appears to be an absolute locker room treasure. And that's on top of being a damn fine fit for the 3-4. His stats drop off is directly related to the move to a 4-3. He could be a great mid-range guy. Of course, OLB is about the last position of need, so there is that.

Jay Cutler is better than any free agent quarterback. The problem is he sucks and everybody hates him. So we could overpay for Mike Glennon. We can resign Brian Hoyer. There are a bunch of other mediocre QB's available--none of which would be an upgrade. If we take a guy at #3--it will be a reach and they won't be ready to play effectively this season. If we take a guy in the 2nd round--it'd be an even bigger project. We will likely do some combination of signing a bad QB and drafting a bad QB. Either way, for the immediate future, we are screwed at QB.

All this Glennon talk is disturbing. No way he's worth that kind of money. Cutler's better. Hoyer's better. I'd much rather save the money and build everywhere else. Sign Hoyer, pay him less, get the same production as Glennon, and use the surplus to fill holes.

http://bearswire.usatoday.com/2017/03/02/p...-his-shoulders/ This may or not affect Allen, but this will be a major concern at pick #3 come draft day. I think he drops down some but some team will still make him a top 10 pick, just not the Bears imo.

If the reports are true Jeffery and Glennon will both get 14 mil a year. Jeffery is worth it but think we may not get that deal done Glennon is not significantly better than Hoyer which is less than half the cost. So you sign Hoyer to 15 mil, 3 year contract, he has no problem being a bridge player and is statistically in the same tier as Glennon. So with the extra money we sign Jack Doyle to a three year contract 16 mil. ( he is a good blocker and can catch the ball) allow us to play 2 TE sets that enhance the running game. We sign Kyle /FB he is an excellent blocker and can catch the ball and run. He would be great support for the running game an…
