I was doing a mock draft and somehow Jalen Ramsey fell to the Bears at 11. Is that reasonable at all? Looking at the draft, I see the following teams ahead of us with a potential CB need: DAL - Former 1st rounder Morris Claiborne, Orlando Scandrick coming back. BAL - They need CB, but their OL was a mess last year and Flacco was hurt as a result PHI - They need CB, but Elliott makes a lot of sense for them, and they moved up for a reason TB - CB is a need, but they signed Robinson and Grimes. For the draftniks out there who are y'all watching on Saturdays? I'm guessing we'll land at 15 overall and could be as high as 10th. The top player I want is Jalen Carter DT but he'll be long gone before we draft. The next DT who might still be on the board is Bresee who can also play 3-tech and has the motor we want. He seems to be more 1-gap style vs. 2-gap so might still be around for us. Beyond that I'm not seeing anyone jump out at a position of need. I'm not that enamored with Jaxon Smith-Njigba, not that high anyway. After a strong week 1 we simply erased any goodwill nationally with the absolutely putrid performance against the Saints. So apparently Brian Billick has invented a new stat, and it actually looks pretty smart. He calls it the "Fox-Tox Rating" (which is sort of a dumb name, I admit) and it's basically a composite of turnovers and what he calls "explosive" plays (runs over 12 yards or passes over 20.) It's basically the differential in turnovers (turnovers created on defense minus turnovers committed on offense) taken together with the differential in big plays (big plays on offense minus big plays allowed on defense.) It's apparently a good predictor of success: a good Fox-Tox rating correlates very well with winning and making the playoffs, and a bad one correlates well with losing. …

Just wanted to throw out an update I read about Nicks. Parcells and Sporano went to NC to hold a private workout w/ Nicks. That alone is somewhat newsworthy as Parcells rarely travels for such visits. Thus, if you believe Parcells is a good talent evaluator, this may mean something. At the workout, Nicks weight 216, which is 10 lbs less than what he weighed at the schools pro day and w/ in 2 lbs of his combine weight. MN offensive game plan was terrible. I love that they did NOT run AP like years past. Every time they ran a set were Teddy was under center they ran a play action pass. They pretty much ran AP out of the shotgun. I think that is crazy stupid. If they continue this it should help when the Bears play them. Im sure AP will get more comfortable in the shotgun but he is very dangerous when he gets going and has room to cut, out the shotgun he did not have very much run to get going. I have AP in my FF and clearly I hated this, but the Bears winning is way more important! lol

Very informative read from Gabriel on setting a draft board. I always persumed teams evaluated player by round grade, but looks like it is more just lined up top to bottom and you pick whomever is on top regardless. I say that because I would have assumed someone may not have been on your board in the first but is on your board in the 3rd (say if a 1st round talent slipped). The way it looks, if someone isn't on your list, you stay away from them and I suppose it makes sense and that is why you might see a 1st round graded player fall and continue to fall (as plenty of teams just keep laser focus on who they scouted and evaluated and went with from the beginning). ht…

What is up with the blowouts this season? Yesterday's games were decided by 16 and 18 pts and could've been higher if Atlanta didn't take a knee at the 1. In the Wild Card weekend, the closest game was 13 featuring Osweiler and Cook. The others were just as bad. Detroit scored 6 pts, GB won by 25 and Pittsburgh was up 30-6 with 6 mins left in the game.

I played the draft game for the first time. Here's how it went.

They beat our arse in the most important game of the year. They deserve to go to the playoffs and we do not. The last 2 losses on the road are a direct reflection on our coaching staff. If they cannot turn this around and get the team to 9-7 or better then they should go. This has nothing to do with the 'fire and the passion' but instead the fact they are being out coached repeatedly. I know they will be here for 1 more yr but that doesn't excuse the mess they have created. Peace
