I believe he is the longest-tenured Bear and made $1.75M last year. The Bears just signed Ryan Winslow who was a UDFA with the Bears in 2018. Could this be the end of Mega Punt? The Bears also signed long snapper Beau Brinkley, which could also spell the end for Patrick Scales ($1.13M). Between these guys and the vet min, they could save about $1M in cap space between the 2.

Most our blue chips players are on defense. Mack, Quinn, Smith , Johnson, and in some respects, Jackson. Other good players on the roster . I think they move on from Goldman, Attaochu, Trevathan. Trevis Gibson, Blackson, Edwards, Tonga , Snowden, Sam Karama, Graham can contribute. Needs : 2 CBs, SS, MLB, SLB, 3 T. If Graham can develop, Shelly, and Vidor can be put at NB or bring in new. I think 3T could be a fit for Edwards and Karama. Both around 6'2" 290. If not will have bring new. Blackson and Tonga can man the NT spot.Possible that Nichols can play there and will be brought back. I think Snowden will get first shot at SAM LB spot. I think the…

The Bears hired Jim Arthur as Strength and Conditioning coach today. Arthur was a protege and assistant of Rusty Jones, who was our S&C coach from 2005 - 2013 during the Lovie Smith era. Rusty is widely respected around the league and works in Indianapolis now. It's pretty clear that we are going back to the Tony Dungy / Lovie Smith tree for a 4-3 cover 2 type defense, and supporting staff philosophies, all the way down to S&C. And this is a very good sign. At least there is some kind of cultural cohesion. Everyone working toward the same vision of defense. In 2014, when we changed philosophy on S&C, I posted this article to this board about los…

If you can only have one. Who are you signing/keeping as the Bears Do-it-all Player? 1. Grant is a FA, was pretty dynamic on punt returns and flashed some skills on offense (albeit in a small sample size, 9 rec, 139 yds and 2 TDs). He will probably be seeking a deal similar to his last one, 2-3M per year. So do you bring Grant back for $2-3M a year as the primary PR with some potential offensive snaps? 2. Cohen has the 8th highest cap hit on the team for 2022 and basically hasn't played in 2 years. He has a $5.75M cap hit in 2022, and his cap hit balloons to $7.5M in 2023. If you cut him pre-June 1, you save $2.25M and have $3.5M in dead money. Post-June 1 you s…

Poles stated , his first task is to fix the oline. Signed for this year are Whitehair, Jenkins, Borom, Ty Wheatly, Dieter Eiselen , and Willie Wright. Whitehair. had an off year, but over the last 3 years has been our best lineman. Plus a big contract that doesn't allow the team to get out of it for one more year. Pencil him in at LG Jenkins will be playing LT or at RT depending on who we bring in . Borom will be RT or RG depending on who they bring in. FAgency could bring in LTs : Orlando Brown, Cam Robinson are under 27 and will be getting big contracts. Old dudes: Teven Armsted, Duane Brown Nate Solder, Riley Reiff, and Jason Peters. …

Here is a list of the Bears UFAs, and their OTC Valuations: 1. Nichols - $6.5M - if the Bears view him as a 3T they may consider him 2. Daniels - $6.3M - Up to Poles, does he fit the mold? 3. Mustipher - $4.3M - No way am I paying Mustipher that lol. 4. Bars - $4.1M - Backup OL, not making that much. 5. Robinson - $3M - this is how low his value dropped after last year, but he will still make over $10M on some team. 6. Hicks - $2.4M - age and injury have killed his value, but he will still get paid Guys like Grant, Gipson, etc for some reason don't have a valuation right now.

I know we posted some in other threads, but I thought it could use its own with how many we are going to do between now at April. Here is one I did with PFF's Mock Draft Simulator, just one trade down for a 3rd and a 5th. Still picked up Johnson (which is unlikely), but hey. Johnson is a no-brainer if there. Went for great value at #71 and got a great athlete to pair with Smith at LB. Moore becomes the defacto starting Slot WR. Domann is a hybrid LB-DB that can lineup almost anywhere on the defense. With so many sub packages, he would be perfect for big Nickel. Watson is the big WR we have needed, could play opposite of Mooney on the outside. Flott is 6'2" so h…

I expect Poles to do some minor restructuring to give him some additional flexibility in his first year as GM. There are several contracts that he can modify without putting too much money into future years. There are some big ones, but I think only one or two will be considered. Mack, Quinn, Whitehair, and Edwards can all safely be restructured to gain around $10M to this year's cap without putting more than $4-5M on any future cap year, if they need to. Jackson is another candidate if they believe he is a long term answer at FS. The Bears are actually in decent cap shape, and will continually get better year over year as some of the albatross contracts drop o…

Looks like Nagy is back in KC as QB coach. Wonder if this is Reid doing him a favor. As I don’t see any team hiring him to work wit their QBs especially not young QBs that need to be developed. Either way, to go from HC to a position coach is quite a step down.

Anything going on of interest? Looks like we have the fastest WR group (ever) with a ton of guys at 4.4 and below. I doubt Olave drops to 39 but some other guys around him surprised with some fast numbers.

Didn’t see anyone else mention this but I apologize if I’m repeating some of the other big NFL news. I naturally thought the title of this would at least involve the word ‘movement’ as when I think of one, I instantly think of Rodgers. Even though he’s not really moving he’s sticking around for a few more years with his new 4 year $200 million deal. And GB applied the franchise tag to Adams right about the same time. So those two will be around to witness 1st hand how Fields will eventually supplant him as the best QB in the NFC North and “own” GB for years to come. In other, more notable news, Russell Wilson was traded to Denver for a couple 1st’s, three (?…

Here is what Poles has as options with his first 3 picks: With 39, he can trade back for a 2nd and a 3rd: 54 / 85 (NE) 55 / 87 (ARZ) 56 / 88 (DAL) 57 / 89 (BUF) For #39, for a 2nd and a 4th: 44 / 117 (CLE) 45 / 118 (BAL) 47 / 121 (IND) For #48, for a 2nd and a 3rd: 61 / 93 (SF) 62 / 94 (KC) 63 / 120 / 208 (CIN) For #48, for a 2nd and a 4th: 53 / 125 (LV) 54 / 126 (NE) Then for 71, they could do something this to pick up a 4th: 80/136 (HOU) 82/121 (IND) 83/123 (PHI) So Poles has a ton of options with his first 3 picks. My guess is he pulls off at least one of these.

We have several posts all related to Free agency and it starts Monday just going to keep it in one post. We signed a RB Darrynton Evans, let go by he Titans. He has great upside but was sidetracked by injuries. He has 4.41 speed. A high reward low risk player. We resigned 3 ERFAs, Mustifer.... Simmons....Horsted, I was surprised by Simmons coming back. Poles must think he has upside. With us trading Mack, we will either be bringing in a DE by draft or FA, or both. The Colt's have 3 free agents DEs. al-Qaeda Mohammad....Kemoko Turay....Thawing Lewis. Al-Qwas a 6th round pick, the other two second picks. I think one of those will be coming here as a edge pr…

So Street/Other Free Agents are players that were cut before their contracts ended. Any players signed from this pool do not count against you towards comp picks. Goldman, Cohen, and Trevathan our the Bears SFAs. If another team signs them, we will not get any comp picks for them. Here are some names to consider: Landry, WR, CLE Williams, RT BUF Flowers, LG WAS Tretter, C CLE Turner, RT GB Saffold, LG TEN Jarwin, TE, DAL Hitchens, LB KC Ioannidis, DL WAS Fox, IDL CAR Mitchell, CB HOU Young, CB BAL Bouye, CB CAR Pierce, DL, MIN Kwiatkoski, LB LVR

Depending on how things are viewed, from the starters and key rotational guys from last year, I think this is where we are at right now, based on filling holes by snap counts (top 20): Daniels > Patrick Peters > Jenkins Ogletree > Morrow Nichols > Jones Gipson > NEED SS Byrd > Pringle Robinson > NEED WR1 DHC > NEED S Ifedi > Borom Dalton > Foles Bush > NEED S/DB Goodwin > St. Brown Goldman > Tonga Mack > Gipson Hicks > Need DT Burns > NEED CB James > NEED TE3 Graham > NEED TE2 Grant > Evans? O'Do…

Really like the Pringle pickup. He is big, fast and ascending. Had a long path he took to the NFL but Poles is really familiar with him. He also can return kick-offs. 1yr 4M (2M in incentives). Additionally - St. Brown didn't do a lot with the Packers, but he was behind a lot of people on the depth chart. I will note he is big and fast but reality is he is probably like some of the other fast guys (Goodwin/Byrd) who were scrubs last year. I really want one of Landry/Juju (or Robert Woods) plus a draft pick (or two).

Bears sign DE Al-Quadin Muhammad to 2yr 10M deal (per Schefter). He played DE for Colts last season. Seems like a solid signing.

According to Ian Rapport reports. If true eladed and skeptical at the same time. Paying big money for a player that doesn't stay on the field enough.
