Supposedly Ron Rivera & Lovie disagreed often, which is why Rivera was let go. So we bring in Lovie's guy. So the defense sucked last year. Injuries were the excuse. In pre-season we've been close to 100% healthy: 1. In 4 pre-season games has our #1 defense seen a 4 & out? Have we had a turn-over? 2. Every team that we have played in the pre-season has used misdirection plays. All four games we've over-pursued in the wrong direction & gotten burned. Whatever happened to "staying in our gaps." I rarely here the players say that any more. 3. Under Babbich, we do seem to get to the quarterback more often, but for some reason it tends to leav…

If the season ended today, the Bears would have the 6th pick, tied with NYG and SEA, so they would rotate picks every round. So they lost a 1st and 4th for Fields, and 7th with Miller, and got back a 5th for Miller. Since HOU is terrible, that ends up as a very high 5th. The Bears got Borom and Herbert in the 5th last year. With the following picks, I would love to see the new GM move down on either Pick 37 or 71 and pick up a 4th rounder. That would give them 5 picks in the top 150, which is decent. With those 5 picks, you get a WR1, CB2, C, S, and BPA (WR, CB, or ILB). I would be happy with a draft like that. They would still have a solid 6th rounder to use a…

In 1999, the Packers hired Ray Rhodes and he as fired after 1 season because they knew they made a mistake. The Bears have made a mistake in the hiring of Trestman (would love him as an offensive coordinator). If things do not improve by the end of the season, he must be fired. This inconsistent play reflects directly on him. Peace

Hypothetical here, let's assume Trestman is gone at the end of the year and the Bears have to hire another coach. Which guy is on your radar? The list isn't nearly as appealing as it was 2 years ago. The up and comers: - Todd Bowles (Cardinals DC) - Pep Hamilton (Colts OC) - Darrell Bevell (Seahawks OC) - Adam Gase (Broncos OC) - Dave Toub (Chiefs ST) The retreads: - Mike Shanahan - John Gruden - Bill Cowher Current NFL coaches that might be looking for a job: - John Harbaugh - Rex Ryan - Mike Smith College coaches: - Kevin Sumlin - David Shaw - Brian Kelly I'm sure there are others I am leaving off, but the…

Just checking in to see if we will be continuing our TalkBears Keeper and non-Keeper leagues this year? I believe Drunkbomber is the Commish for the keeper league, but I have not seen him on here in a month or so. With that said, are the past managers still interesting in continuing the leagues this year? Any other members wanting to join in?

A copy and paste from another thread. I want to start a discussion on Garrett Wolfe. I think that Wolfe can be a solid contributor, and much more than a third-down back. Honestly, I don't see why everyone is so ready to quit on a guy who did nothing but look better than Benson and Peterson during his limited touches last year. I don't see why he can't produce like Warrick Dunn has produced throughout his career. If anything, having a smaller, shiftier RB is a better option behind a line that opens up massive holes for DTs and DEs. Every time he got in the game last year he was making someone miss...that is, of course, when Turner wasn't calling the FB dive…

I know it has been awhile for me to post, But I have a perdicament that is bothering me. At the end of last season Orton was Qb'ing the Bears, He was 2-1 as starter and the team averaged well over 25 points game. To me the team played a lot better with him in then both Rex and griese combined. Here I been reading almost all the posts of the upcomming season and most have Rex ahead Orton. Is there something you guys read somewhere or what?

  15. http://chicagobearsfanforum.com/blog/?p=248 There is an old saying which everyone knows. It goes, “Curiosity killed the cat.” But there are times when I wonder if we football fans take this saying too far. This was never more evident to me than when I heard other Bear fans comment on the ”Spygate” situation in New England. This seems to me to be a rich, multifaceted story that many fans should be interested in. But I often find that instead, quite a number of those I've talked to would rather see it die a quiet death, never to rear its head again. The only thing I can figure is that many fans treat the NFL as a league as they do their own teams. Bear fans a…

http://www.profootballtalk.com/category/rumor-mill/ CHRIS WILLIAMS OUT FOR THE YEAR? Posted by Mike Florio on August 7, 2008, 8:12 p.m. We’re hearing rumblings from reliable sources that Bears rookie offensive tackle Chris Williams, the No. 14 overall pick in the 2008 draft, is expected to miss the entire season with a back injury. Multiple teams were concerned about Williams’ health prior to the draft. Some were sufficiently concerned to take him off the board. As we hear it, Williams has aggravated a prior back injury, and most likely will be shut down. This development, if indeed accurate, will throw a mediocre Bears offensive line into disarray, …

Massie is getting 6 mil per, Trevathan 7-8, and Tracy porter 5, that means we have about 26 million to spend. DE is still a priority and we need to figure something out with the TE position. How the hell we going to spend 26 million?

So the season is over for us now, onto the offseason already. Aside from the obvious (Drafting offensive lineman) what else do you think the Bears need to improve the offense and defense for next season? Two things for me. One, a true #1 receiver-- easier said then done, but without one you can never be a truly consistent offense throwing the football. As far as I'm concerned, Earl Bennett is really the only one I somewhat trust at catching the ball. Secondly, there's a free agent out there that will be demanding a ton of money and goes by the name of Andy Asumugha (sp!!). You know, the guy from Oakland. I don't know where the Bears are at financially like I do with…
