I'd love to see either Roy Schuening (OG), Dennis Dixon, or Mario Manningham in any combination for the Bears. My preference would be a combination of Roy Schuening and Mario Manningham. That would be outstanding.

A video is out on ESPN.com with Mel Kiper and Todd McShay discussing the draft. Surprisingly, Kiper picked the Bears as the team that helped itself the most for this year. He also said we had the best UDFA signing in Caleb Hanie, saying he has an NFL arm and could be a quality starter in the future. You know me, I could give a crap what Kiper says, but it was nice to see the good pub.

I am watching the game again (man I love DVR) and a few things. - McGowan and Briggs are really standing out is poor angles and tackling. I want to write it off as 1st preseason game, but as this was such an issue last year, and something we were supposedly working so hard on in camp, it does concern me. One area McGowan is looking good. He is making a few really good plays in the backfield. So when he is going downhill, he is looking good. LT2_3, can you help us out, we have had conflicting reports, and some disagreements on the forum, about how much cap space the Bears currently have. One report on the net had us with a little over 9 Million under the cap. another had us at about 1 Million under the cap. What is your expert opinion on this point of discussion?

I have bad mouthed Trent Dilfer for many years due to his Jay Cutler hate. Well pigs must be flying or I just hear Trent praise Jay Cutler. Trent raved about the new Jay- said if you watch the game film he is doing the right things, reading Defenses, mechanics etc etc Puts him right on the fringe of the Manning, Rodger, Breese and Brady level of QB's. Coming soon. Of the current Bears there are three names that I see pop up here and there. Forte, Jeffery and Cutler. Obviously Forte is the most logical (although I personally would hate it) as there are several teams in need of star RB. The article below makes it sound viable especially when you consider Denver and "our" apparent new familiarity of one another. And the way it appears Langford is gaining trust with the staff it makes Matt even more expendable. I realize this is a total left field comment, but these are two QB's, who some top NFL people (Greg Gabriel being one of) have raved about. Lynch is probably off the board, but Wentz is another guy who gets high marks. Both of these guys have a ton of talent and would benefit from an organization who has a stability in the coaching ranks and ideally the ability to be patient (as they need to develop). I only see this happening if they feel other positions are more needy in the draft. So we would have Miller, but cant expect him to play everyday. Daniel Brown shows some development. Braunbacker still to develop. So if we add Gersham at 28 , he is a very good blocker and still have receiving skills. He wont be very expensive so I see it as a viable option.
