This thread needs to exist, and I'll be checking it regularly. You see a Cutlerian update, please put it in here.

We really need a slump buster this weekend. Bears 24-13 Jay cleared for limited practice yesterday: http://espn.go.com/chicago/nfl/story/_/id/...leared-practice

I've been thinking about all the recent chatter about if the board could be smarter than a GM (or let's say as smart as). Now there are far too many aspects of a GM's job for us to sit here and say we got it...from FA, to staffing levels, scouting, knowing the inside details of player's behavior, details on injuries, etc. However we can approximate the one area of most interest these days...the draft. This is some long term thinking here for those who have been with this board for several years. I believe we can build our own draft and save it for future evaluation. After the draft the board is usually quiet. This off-season I propose we take on the challeng…

Till now I have been on board with drafting defense in the first. But with the additions thus far on the line and on defense I have been thinking: 1st Tavon Austin WR 2nd Best corner available My logic is that a Marshall and Jeffery split out and Austin in the slot with Bennett at tight end would give us a group of receivers that would be hard to stop. There are people on this board that will say that weapons are useless with Cutler on his back. I have to have faith that Kromer with the additions the line will improve. The quick catches I saw Austin make are very similar to the ones dropped by Hester last year. Austin gives us threats at every position …

Alright so let me first say that I hate/never believe people when they say I had a dream about a draft and think its silly. Well last night I did indeed have a dream about our Bears and the key piece of that dream was my boy Jesse Williams. We were in the super bowl, down by 6, inside 2 minutes, and we had the ball 4th and 1 near mid field(against the Broncos FWIW). Jesse Williams was lined up as the FB (something he did at Bama a few times), he gets the ball, baits the D in to stop the run then BOOM hits em with a rugby type flea flicker back to Cutler who then nails a wide open Martellus Bennett for the go ahead TD to win the super bowl. Unrealistic to actually hap…

So Bostic over Brown, another OL, and Taylor and Allen. I don't mind Bostic, I just didn't think he would go that high either.

Hey Guys, I'm very optimistic about our new staff and roster. I've been hoping for something like this, and it seems to me that they are doing all the right things. That said, I do expect the defense to take a step backward this year. Our "Cover 2" defense should probably be called a "One Gap" defense, since it's more about the front than the coverage behind it. Our aggressive scheme asks defensive linemen to get into their gaps and get upfield. This leaves 4 other gaps for LBs and a Safety to be responsible for. Unlike a 2 gap front, where players hold position, and linebackers roam behind like little safeties, our system thrives on upfield pressure, …

In his Monday Morning QB article which he runs every week, he gives his votes for the AP All Pro. He picks Cribbs over Hester for KR/PR. How the hell can he justify that??? 2. I think, as a sort of Fairness in Voting deal, I am going to list my ballot for the annual All-Pro Team that the Associated Press has 50 members do each year. The AP recommends we vote for a left and right tackle, strong and free safety, et cetera. My team, with comments where appropriate: Offense WR: Randy Moss, New England. T: Joe Thomas, Cleveland. Not that hard a pick. Played every snap, was better than Walter Jones, and was the biggest reason why a D-minus line in 2006 played li…

  11. I mean, he is a freakin DT. Where on earth will this end? Look at where is gotten to in the last 10 yrs. Bruce Smith made 2.2M 10 yrs ago. He was a premier player. Dwight Freeney got his deal last yr at 6 yrs 72M, 30 guaranteed. Even using simple math, thats 12M per yr. based on the same rate of growth, that implies that 10 yrs from now, that a premier guy like Smith or Freeney is going to make what? 72M a year unless something is done. These salaries have gotten completely out of hand. Hell, Deion Sanders was the highest paid NFL player 10 yrs ago and he was paid 4.9M a Yr and people were going gaga over that. How can the small market teams survive, let alone compet…

All right, this is just for fun… Here are the scenario’s: 1) Trade future picks for Brady Quinn. What would it take? Maybe a 1st and a 4th. 2) Grab a veteran FA. I’ve heard Simms potentially mentioned, but Culpepper looks to be finally healthy. Here’s the ceiling and floor of it all. Quinn is an unknown by NFL standards, yet has the ability to become the franchise QB we have been dreaming of for decades. Pepp and Simms are damaged goods, but have the ability to become serviceable stop gaps with arguable skills possibly not adding up to Orton and Rex. You are the GM and the clock is ticking…

For some time, I have wonder if many of the problems we have on the team center around a simple lack of talent, or inability of the coaching staff. More than in recent past, I seem to be reading articles talking about how we run camp, which just really puts a focus on our coaches. For example, for years I have seen our players exhibit some very questionable tackling. Then I read about how we do not really allow our players to tackle, or to finish tackles, in camp. Its more like we practice flag football in camp. The point was made, how can you work on tackling technique when you are not allowed to tackle? But for this, what I am curious about is the OL. Against…

The original mock draft for 2017 produced the following: 2017 EVERYONE AGREES MOCK - VER 2.0 1. Jonathan Allen, DE, Alabama - Nearly half the board is upset, regardless of the pick 2. Pat Mahomes, QB, Texas Tech - Assures Barkley doesn't start 3. Budda Baker, S, Washington - Gives the Bears a solid back-end 4. Chad Wheeler, OT, USC - Potential for either side 4. Kevin King, CB, Washington - Good size/speed combo, cohesion with Baker 5. Fabian Moreau, CB, UCLA - Rising draft boards, could be a steal 7. Pharaoh Brown, TE, Oregon - Skilled pass-catcher with injury history Yes Votes for QB in RD1 - 10 Alaska - RD1 QB=Y Ashkum - RD1 QB=Y AZ54 - RD…

The Bears have two winable games in the next two weeks with the Vikings and the Bucs. If the Bears win both games, they will have the same record they had last season at week 8. I still don't feel that all hope is lost. When Carimi comes back, Garza and Spencer fill their right positions, something could turn around for this offensive line. Yet, we will still be lacking that #1 WR that we so desperatly need. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J4-G1She7Yo
