I was thinking that with the full organizational changeover that Poles is not going to go into 2022 expecting to win the SB. With the cap space vs the number of holes to fill coupled with the lack of a 1st rounder, he may stretch this out a little longer. If he does plan to do this, he won't be signing any big-name FAs, will probably trade down in the draft, and will trade away assets to gain cap space and draft capital. The players that would mostly impact the 2023 cap are Mack, Quinn, Jackson, Whitehair, Goldman, Cohen, and Trevathan. We will be adding in the draft and FAgency. What moves does Poles make that will give us a winning season next yr. We cant fill every spot so we figure 9 new starters. Lets say we get the 2nd pick, 56, 65, and 101. These are picks that probably will give us starters from day one. Anything in the rest of the draft will just be gravy if they end up starting. I hope he is better at Cougar hunting than he is at QBing because he looks terrible. That game last night was one of the worst performances I have seen from a #2 pick that I can recall. This is also coming after a 300-yd game against DET last week and he also had 355 yards against NE a few weeks ago. His QBR last night was 5.2. Only Kyle Allen and Matt Ryan had worse QBR games with as many passing attempts this season. What is absolutely wild is his completion percentage (among other things). He was 50% last night, 51.4% against DET and only 40.9% against NE. He had a 55.6% last year and some how is worse this year with 54.5%. It is not even like he is throwing…

Its nice to dream on enormous returns on trades but is it realistic? If we move to 2 with Washington. move to 2, get pick 40, pick 102. 1st next year. If we get lots of competition for one, add a player?

So I was thinking, regardless if the Bears use #1 on a QB or trade down, they will have at least one pick in the top 10 to draft a non-QB. Knowing that, and with the assumption that 3 QBs will go in the top 10, what group of players must the Bears get at least one player from? For me, it is a group that includes MHJ, Nabers, Odunze, Bowers, or Alt. With 3 QBs, there is a chance that all of them are gone at #9. If that is the case, would you be ok with someone else in this group? Someone like Turner, Verse, or Latu on the Edge? Fashanu? I would rather trade down if none of those 5 are there. Thoughts?

Reports are he is one of their primary focuses (vs. Saquon). I know the name is less sexy but this would be a really good get. He's still young and he's a really good football player. With rookie QB, Bears can afford to splurge a bit at RB (and it saves them from having to use another draft pick on the position in a draft where they don't have a ton of picks).

That is still funny to me, but there is a path in the next two weeks. This week, assuming DET beats WSH, CHI beats NYG and GB loses to PHI. That would slide DET into 1st in the DIV, tied with the Bears but holding the H2H tiebreaker. Regardless of the outcome of any other games, the Bears would also be locked into the 6th Seed either between SF and LAR or LAR and GB, depending on the winner of the LAR @ SF game. Comparing the Bears roster to the rest of the league by position group, they only have 5 players in the top 10 at their position in terms of AAV, Thuney, Jonah Jackson, Kmet, Odeyingbo (as Edge2), and Gordon (as Slot CB). Technically, Gordon is the highest-paid Bears player in relation to the rest of the NFL as the 2nd highest paid Slot CB. Odeyingbo is the next as the 3rd highest Edge2, then Thuney at 7, Jackson and Kmet at 8. Gordon's is the only deal that will be that high for another few years. Odeyingbo will be gone next year, and all the rest will slide out of the top 10 with other players getting new deals. My assumption is Darnell Wright will get added to the top …

We've had discussions about our biggest surprise on offense, now let's get defensive...My biggest surprise will be Mario Edward's Jr. I think his name has sort of gotten forgoten here the past few years with the likes of Hicks, Goldman, and Nichols also being really good. I think right now he's the starting 3 technique and has a really good year. I totally forgot that dude ran a 4.84 40, so the explosion is there to be a upfield 3T.

I'm worried about winning, Even with our depleted roster, you can feel this team getting stronger. Pretty soon those bad 4th quarter play calls aren't going to be enough to hold back this team and keep them from beating someone. Probably the Lions and/or the Vikings. But with Fields being such a hero, cant you see some kind of miracle against the Eagles or the Bills? I am thrilled at the growth and cant wait to see what Fields and this staff can do with a proper roster. But I want that #2 pick. It means so much more than the #5 in terms of getting Jalen Carter, or some really sweet bundle of first round picks, the kind we used to be on the giving side of. …

This guy does a decent job breaking down Booker from the HOF game. It's almost like they are wanting Booker to practice the QB moving up in the pocket as if Sweat will force that response. Tell me what you see.

Honest question here. It just seems like he is getting the smartest guy in the room syndrome, and that effectively killed Pace after the Trubisky and Shaheen picks. It felt like every pick other than Burden was overdrafted, while other teams got great value. Coming into the draft with 3 picks in the top 41, I am just not feeling it this year. I hope I am wrong. Then you add the trades with BUF that lost value and the only saving grace is getting a 4th next year from LAR. Anyone else feeling like this? 1st and 2nd rounders have to be starters. The Bears had 4 of those picks and got a TE2, WR3, OT3, and DT4, no starters unless Trapilo somehow beats out Braxton.
