here is a little bit of a different take on assessing the current team and moving forward. Here is the 53 man roster, go through it as if you were a gm and decide who you think should stay, and who you think should go, and why. The idea is not to tell us who you would replace them with, but rather why you think they should no longer take up a roster spot. 95 Adams, Anthony* NT 97 Anderson, Mark* DE 20 Archuleta, Adam SS 94 Ayanbadejo, Brendon LB 73 Bazuin, Dan* DE 67 Beekman, Josh G 32 Benson, Cedric* RB 80 Berrian, Bernard WR 16 Bradley, Mark WR 55 Briggs, Lance OLB 96 Brown, Alex DE 30 Brow…

Listening to ESPN Radio today, and McShay was on and talking QBs. He was asked if the bears would consider a QB at 14. He then talked about how it has been rumored for a while that a team in the teens was considering Henne. He went on to talk about how he separately knew that Chicago is in fact very high on Henne. Said they/we love his size and arm strength. Also mentioned our liking Flacco. He is not predicting Chicago will take Henne at 14, but he and Kiper are both talking about how they keep hearing about a team in the teens who is looking at QB that few realize. Of all the players we have talked about taking at 14, I don't think any make me as sick…

The three most attractive veteran WR options out there are Torry Holt, Plaxico Burress, and Matt Jones. Anyone else available isn't going to make the impact that these three guys can make. However, of the three individuals, Burress has had constant on the field and off the field problems and Jones has had very serious off the field problems. Suspensions are looming for both Jones and Burress and in Plax case you have jail to worry about. Holt is a similar age to Burress and his productivity slipped last year but you can point to a lot of factors that led to the decrease (Rams being horrific being numero 1 through 10). Given the fact that the Bears just made a huge …

Halfway through the season, we are now 3-6. It's not where most thought we'd be, while it was with others. Sitting in year two of a massive rebuild, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Poles: he's brought over 60 new faces into Halas Hall in the last two years. He has taken us from relying on the likes of Germaine Ifedi, to having the makings of a solid offensive line. We have yet to see them all healthy this year to date. What other team has faced that? The Montez Sweat trade was huge. Great cap space and draft picks are again top of the league. His biggest failure is with Claypool, Velus and lack of a good center. Victories include; Sweat, Bagen…

The Bears are still weak at WR3, Edge2, and need at least another rotational piece at DT with the loss of Jones. For upgrades, Center is the most obvious spot not listed. So priority seems to be WR/Edge, then DT, then Center. If they stand pat, they have #9, #75, and #122 to address those spots. They have talked about a big drop off in talent in this draft (due to players staying in school due to NIL), so there are fewer mid level players available. I assume that is why Poles has not been shy to dump draft picks later in the draft. What would you rather see the Bears do (not what you think they will do) with the draft picks? Do you think it is better to get a …

If you post on or view the boards at FF, then don't answer say who these 2 are- I sort of stole the idea from there. Which would you rather have after 2 years, and why? I'll tell you who they are in 2-3 days or so.

unlike urlacher's skank, this one for some reason doesn't strike me as that type that is trying to get rich quick. Broken promise? CHILD SUPPORT | Briggs makes $7.5M a year, his child's mother says she gets $250 a week December 17, 2007 BY STEVE PATTERSON Staff Reporter/spatterson@suntimes.com In the latest chapter of a soap opera-like saga, Chicago Bear Lance Briggs is facing a nasty legal battle that could soon turn nastier. Brittini Tribbett, who has a 3-month-old baby with Briggs, says she's sharing a room with their baby at her mom's house, has turned to family for help buying diapers, and faces unpaid medical expenses and other bills -- de…

"The negotiations for a new labor agreement couldn't be going any worse. If the past few days, I've spoken to sources on both sides of the labor talks, and I've come to the conclusion that it'll be an upset if there isn't a work stoppage that either delays or cancels the 2011 season. Many of us in the media have speculated about the chances for a lockout and predicted one is coming, but the total lack of progress over the nut issue in 11 bargaining sessions tells me unless there's a sea-change by one side or the other, you'd better savor the 2010 season because it could be the last football we see for a while. At the core of the problem is ownership's demand for…

Aaron Leming @AaronLemingNFL 31s32 seconds ago Outside of Trevathan, the biggest name tied to the #Bears looks to be DL Akiem Hicks. Pace has history & will come much cheaper than Jackson.

Breaking news from my guys with inside sources, saying Johnson is the guy, and the decision is made. If you see it in mainstream press in the next hour, then that's a pretty good sign my guys do in fact have their sources But yeah, it's real.

Between this year and last year, this period may be the most exhausting as a fan. There is random hints of promise only to be crashed back down to the depths of hell. The NE game last year feels like the WSH game this year. After that game, everyone figured that the Bears had righted the ship and things were going to continue to trend in a positive direction. Then they finish the year with 10 straight losses. This year they start out exactly the same, like literally nothing has changed after an entire offseason, they start out with 4 straight losses and then go into Washington on a short week in prime time and whoop up on the Commanders. Everyone gets excited, the Be…

Trade Briggs for a 2nd round pick. Trade Knox for a 5th. Extend Idonije, Urlacher, Graham, Jennings, and Okoye. Cut Omiyale, Wootton, and Spaeth. Sign Robert Meachem, Eddie Royal, and Brady Quinn. Franchise Forte. 1) David DeCastro, OG, Stanford ---All of you know me as the guy who never wants OL this high. However, in this scenario, Williams would move back to LT and DeCastro would fill in at OG. Even if Webb stays or the Bears sign a LT through FA, DeCastro would start at RG or LG. 2) Dwight Jones, WR, North Carolina ---In the past, I've said that I love McNutt. He's a very good player. However, in his final game, he was shut down by Alfonzo Dennard…
