Duke Robinson is on the board and the Bears want him, but the Steelers offer up a huge deal and give the Bears their 1st rounder, their 3rd rounder, and a 3rd next year. 1. Kenny Britt, WR, Rutgers --massive WR (6'4 220), inconsistent this year (was great last year) but a clutch physical player, great combination of size and speed, projected to go early 2nd 2. Rashad Johnson, FS, Alabama --leader, high football IQ, and big hitter- Brown and Payne just don't get it done good enough 3. Travis Bright, OG, BYU --another massive player (6'6 320) and has been very good this year 3. Mark Sanchez, QB, USC --might be a homer pick here, but he has a good arm w…

If the Bears get the first pick and decide to trade out of it, here are some teams with draft capital and a need at QB. First off, I think once you get past 10, it is too much capital, so I will stick to the top 10 for now: 1. ARZ - Currently #2, could want to move up to secure their guy knowing someone will ultimately jump them. The value on something like this is tough, but 2x 2nd rounders would be the value based on the trade value chart. 2. WAS - Currently #3, Howell is benched, and they shedded some salary. This would now cost a future first with the swap and another mid round pick. Another option is the pick swap, Daron Payne and another high pick in 2025 (1s…

  3. http://bearingthenews.com/?p=1367 Trend Towards Interior Linemen May Characterize Draft by Tom Shannon I’ve long held that offensive guard is becoming a more important position in the National Football League than in years past. Bear fans need only look at their own division for one of the best example of why this is. The Minnesota Vikings spent what was at the time a fortune for a guard on Steve Hutchinson in 2006. Ever since we have watched Hutchinson serve as the key piece of what was up to last year an excellent to good offensive line. Dan Pompei writing for the National Football Post, explains why interior offensive linemen and defensive tackles h…

Bears work out Tony Moeaki, other tight ends Posted by Josh Alper on June 9, 2016, 3:23 PM EDT ATLANTA, GA - JANUARY 03: Tony Moeaki #81 of the Atlanta Falcons runs after a catch during the first half against the New Orleans Saints at the Georgia Dome on January 3, 2016 in Atlanta, Georgia. (Photo by Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images) Getty Images The Bears traded Martellus Bennett to the Patriots this offseason, leaving them with Zach Miller at the top of the depth chart and a slew of players vying for backup roles on this year’s roster. They appear to be considering another addition to that latter group. Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports that the team …

I think it's time. I wore a Butkus jersey yesterday and felt embarrassed that the team on the field was wearing the same uniform. I can't do it. I cannot tarnish the greats and the memory of Papa Bear by supporting this nonsense. This team..I will say it. ...IS NOT THE BEARS. There is nothing Bear-ish about them. They are a disgrace to the uniform. With that said, here's how I (if anyone's morbidly interested in knowing) will be handling my support... 1. I will not attend a Bears game until we have a new HC, GM and QB. No more of my money to line the coffers of the McCaskeys. And note, the HC, GM and QB must not be jokes. They must be legit…

It's nice to hear the young Olinemen making progress. Here is some Q and A's from a Tice interview : http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/bears CHICAGO -- Chicago Bears offensive line coach Mike Tice spent some time Wednesday on the “Afternoon Saloon” on ESPN 1000 discussing some of the technical aspects of offensive line play, and they relate to the Bears for the upcoming season. Because Tice was so detailed in his responses to great questions from Carmen DeFalco, John Jurkovic and Harry Teinowitz, we decided to paraphrase the questions and transcribe the whole interview in a question-and-answer format so you can get the full gist of the offensive line coach’s…

  9. Evidence suggests we've improved all around at other positions of need. We could still use a safety but I'm not convinced one rated high enough will be there at #7. So I'm declaring for the WR position although I'm still open as to who that is. Further evidence is that one of our first moves was to cut Marshall loose. To me that suggests Pace has been planning this all along, playing chess knowing that the goal was WR at the end of the day. Then again, we did add a WR already but he's more a slot guy. So I'm sticking with it, it's going to be WR. Thoughts?

Ryan Clady ran a 5.18 forty and posted a 31" vertical at the Boise State Pro Day. Clady tweaked his pectorals on the bench press at the Combine and was unable to do the rest of his drills. A terrific athlete, Clady projects as a starting left tackle at the next level. Zone-blocking teams will be intrigued. Source: draftheadquarters.com

We have an offense that needs help. So what do you do as the GM. IMHO i would look what we have left in FA and get the cheapest but best player out there like Starks from Pitt,Scott from Indy or the Seahawks Locklear or the guy from the Chargers Olivera (or somthing to that nature) Then I would go drafting. I would get Clady(OT) in the first RD. Flacco (QB)in the second RD, Charles or Johnson(RB) in the third McGlynn(G/T) in the fourth, Hubbard or Hall(WR) in the fifth, six and seventh best player in those rounds. We might need to get and extra DT and FS too

Once he got the rust knocked off, Barkley looked pretty damn good. I think he is definitely in contention next year...provided he doesn't totally blow up before the seasons over. Now the receivers... Nother story.

David Haugh thinks we should give it a whirl. What do you guys think? If it was Urlacher and one 3rd, I might consider it. Sure, Urlacher is still the face of the franchise and captain of the defense, but he has maybe 4 good years left in him while Boldin is right in his prime.

  15. Man, all I gotta say is that Lovie and his staff need to re-examine how they evaluate the talent they have in camp. A lot of us here recognized that FB Lusaka Polite was a hammer and yet we let him go despite him busting people up in preseason a few years ago. Last night, that guy was a beast. To me, it's nice to have the RBs that Miami does, but this guy Polite is a difference maker. He was leading the way on just about every run and screen, picked up countless blitzes, and when they needed a yard, this guy would get into his block and get + movement every time. We haven't had that here in ages...unless you wanna count the time that he was in our camp. …

  16. http://chicagobearsfanforum.com/blog/?p=255 I was listening to the radio this afternoon when Lawrence Holmes on WSCR asked an interesting question. Why is it that we get so angry at Bears running back Cedric Benson but we shrug our shoulders and accept it when the Bulls' Joakim Noah gets arrested for marijuana possession? Shouldn't we be just as upset at each? Holmes' theory is that there's a double standard because the people of Chicago just don't like Benson and because he doesn't perform on the field. My gut feeling is that this is true. My gut feeling is also that it goes deeper than that. It isn't just that Benson under performs. Its why he under performs a…

Detroit is essentially holding the 2nd Wild Card spot, and a win on Thursday brings us to within 1 game with 4 to play, the head-to-head tie breaker, and another game in Chicago to tie up the season record. We still have to win out to have a chance due to Seattle, SF, and Dallas, but this would be a huge win and get us to 6-6. We hold the tie breaker against SF, and with a win against Dallas (next Thursday), we would own that one too. None of this matters with a loss which would take us out of the playoff picture at 5-7. Detroit has lost their last 2 games, and won the 3 games before that by a total of 6 points. They could easily be 4-7 without last second wins i…

  20. We get to see one of the MVP favorites in Hurts, who looks a lot like Fields in terms of performance. Philly just put up 48, 35, and 40 against NYG, TEN, and GB, so this does not bode well for our defense. I figure they will try to slow them down and make them run while the Bears run 60% of the time. Depending on player health, I figure this will be a closer game than expected, but the Bears still lose by 10. I am figuring 30-20 right now.
