  1. Very happy with this. I would bet this in the area of 5 yrs for 10 to 12 million with about 2 million sb. Now this is done, they can move on to Harris. I get the feeling that Hester and Url will be handled in the season. Peace
  2. Outstanding. The only change I see is possibly someone else winning out the LG spot. St. Clair is extremely valuable as a the swing tackle. At this time we only have 3 legitimate tackles on the roster and only 2 with NFL experience (Tait, St. Clair, Williams). Peace
  3. This cracks me up. Mike - why don't you be a man and simply say this is all my fault. What a drillrod!!!!!! Peace
  4. I completely agree and would go one step further. If he wanted to go out on the boat, why not hire a designated captain and then he would have been covered. Peace
  5. My point would be that the 2nd FB never plays. I would rather keep one on the practice squad if we are keeping Benson so we also hold onto Wolfe and AP. AP is too valuable as a special teamer to let go and Wolfe showed potential as a 3rd down back at the end of last yr. Peace
  6. http://www.chicagobears.com/news/NewsStory.asp?story_id=4682 Peace
  7. Now that he has joined the voluntary workout program they probably will work out a deal. Peace
  8. Nice to hear from you. The blurb on the KC kicking situation is the reason I believe we will extend Gould. Having consistency at that position is extremely important. Peace
  9. What impact has that 2nd fullback had???? Hell, Wolfe had 5 special team tackles last yr. I am not sure Poulite had one. I would also think more from an upside perspective you keep Wolfe. Hell, you can keep a FB on the practice squad if necessary (most of the time they are drafted late or are undrafted). If we cut Wolfe or try to put him on the practice squad he is gone. Peace
  10. Edgar Bennett???? You just flashed back to the late nineties. He was the RB for the Pack that used to kill us. We signed him for 1 yr and he was a complete bust. You mean Earl Bennett. Peace
  11. Outstanding. LOL!!!! Peace
  12. Thanks. My preference would be for the members of this board to sensor themselves realizing we may have younger readers at times. We may need to take a vote on this. Peace
  13. I agree. Unsure if there is anything we can do about it. I think we may need to all govern ourselves. Peace
  14. Dude, please let it go. Peace
  15. The one huge difference is Benson had a serious injury. We will be lucky to get a warm bucket of spit for him. Peace
  16. So you think they would keep Lousaka Poilite (2nd string FB or equivalent) over AP or Wolfe? No. They will go with 4 RB and 1 FB if Benson looks competitive at all. Peace:dabears

Either the Trib or Sun Times mentioned that he was given a roster bonus last yr - not a signing bonus. This means the cost was absorbed last yr. We save whatever his salary was for this yr by cutting him. Peace

Agreed. He looked very good at the end of the yr and will continue to improve. Peace

  20. Here's more: Cedric Benson arrested Police use pepper spray during arrest By Vaughn McClure |Tribune reporter8:14 AM CDT, May 4, 2008 Bears running back Cedric Benson was arrested late Saturday night near Austin, Texas, and charged with boating while intoxicated and resisting arrest, both Class B misdemeanors. According to a sergeant from the Travis County Sheriff's office, Benson, who played at the University of Texas in Austin, was arrested by the Lower Colorado River Authority. A LCRA spokesperson said that Benson, who failed a sobriety "float test" (an abbreviated version of a field sobriety test) on the boat, argued over taking a follow-up test on land and refused to put on a life jacket. LCRA police attempted to arrest Benson at that time but he refused to cooperate and was pepper sprayed. He was booked at 11:24 p.m. Saturday and later bonded out, the sergeant said. Benson, who had his 2007 season cut short by a broken leg, was in jeopardy of losing his starting spot even before the arrest. The fourth-overall pick of the 2005 draft has struggled through his first three seasons with the Bears, failing to post a 1,000-yard campaign while averaging just 3.8 yards per carry. Benson averaged a career-low 3.4 yards per carry last season, finishing with 674 yards on 196 carries with four touchdowns in 11 games started. He missed the final five games with the leg injury. The Bears sent a clear sign that they wanted more production from their running back by selecting Tulane's Matt Forte in the second round of this year's draft. Forte's ability to get to the outside and catch the ball out of the backfield were dimensions the Bears missed with Benson in the lineup, although Benson showed flashes against Seattle and Denver last season. Benson had a couple of brushes with the law during his college days. He was arrested for marijuana possession in May of 2002 in his hometown of Midland, Texas. The charges were dropped when he passed a drug test and other evidence surfaced to clear him. In October of 2003, he was arrested for criminal trespassing after kicking down an apartment door in Austin, believing his $15,000 plasma television was inside. He received an eight-day jail sentence but never went behind bars because of time served on the day of the arrest, good behavior, and the lack of available beds at the local prison. On Saturday, Benson was on his 30-foot boat with 12 to 15 others but Benson was the only person to be arrested, police said.

  22. Hmmmmm....hard work, dedication? I like to hear that. I have big hopes for him. Peace
  23. He's entitled to his opinion. I happen to disagree with him on this. Peace
  24. I honestly do not believe there is any trade value for a player who has not lived up to expectations who is coming off a major injury. He'll have to prove it on the field this yr or he is gone. Peace
  25. If Rex wins and tears it up - great. If Kyle wins and he tears it up - great. I don't care who at this point - someone please step up. Peace
