  1. This is an odd signing by GB who usually poaches players that are cut instead of FA's. I think their front office is under pressure and they are abandoning their philosophy that has given them 17 compensation picks since Ted Thompson took over 12 years ago. Also looking at GB draft history, they trade down a lot. The Bears in the same time frame of 2005 to 2016 has had 6 compensatory picks; 3 in 2008 and 3 in 2009. This is a reflection of drafting good players.
  2. I am also on board with this. Trade down if it makes you feel better, but do not pass up on a QB because player A is slotted around #15 and we hold card #3. I don't care if they draft QB in round one the next 3 years or more as long as they make an attempt to get it right for once in my life and have a quality backup that was drafted and groomed by the Bears also. I still feel Watson would be that long term answer and he can have a career similiar to Russell Wilson, I would use 3 on him.
  3. That draft would be awesome. I think we draft a TE high since we will need all the help in receiving dept as possible.
  4. I wasn't too impressed with the oline fa class. Massie played much better later on, so not sure Beachum would be a big upgrade. I think he whiffed on the DB's to be critical of him. The WR's were meh, Alshon was it and it seemed to want out regardless. Wonder how far off we are from reaching the minimum cap? Looks like we will be at the bottom and carrying over some cap.
  5. All the QB needy teams are out of the Glennon sweepatakes except for the Bears. If this is indeed the case, his price should drop considerably. If the Bears sign him for his asking price, then we are in big trouble under this regime. If the Bears sign him to an incentive laden contract, say 8 million with bonuses, then maybe it a worth considering. I still would prefer Hoyer, but wanted to point out Buf, SF, NYJ have stated no interest.
  6. I want Hoyer back to bridge the gap for a 1st round draft pick. If Kizer or Mahommes can be had in RD2, I can go with that also. I do not want a long term project QB with were we are at with the QB situation now. Prospects like Webb/Peterman work if you have 2 years to see if they develop, we do not have that luxury imo.
  7. Drew Boylhart‏ @DrewBoylhart 10m10 minutes ago Jason Cole passes along "growing talk" #Bears are in pursuit of free agent CB Stephon Gilmore. Seems they want to sign everyone in FA #NFL
  8. A trade down makes the most sense if the Bears are going QB. I think we all want a stud S, and I think we can get a good one RD2 like Baker or Melifonwu. I don't think they can get a QB with stud potential in RD2, so it is either reach or trade down. In FA, the can sign Gilmore, Campbell, and an OT to fill needs and allow a draft to go like: 1 Watson QB trade down for 2nd 2 Baker FS 2 G Bolles OT 3 A Jackson CB 4 J Butt TE 4. Jarron Jones DE 5. R Switzer WR 7. RB or K
  9. It will be Hoyer over Glennon. First because of the price, Glennon is asking too much to risk on. Second Hoyer knows this offense and the offense rallys behind him, a rookie can learn more behind Hoyer. Third, Pace raves about Hoyer when he speaks of him
  10. With the leak that the Bears want Brian Hoyer back, I do not see Glennon in the mix unless Hoyer wants to go elsewhere. I still see them going Hoyer, rookie, Shaw, but that is my guess.
  11. If we want to connect more dots, Mitchell Trubiskys head coach Larry Fedora was also an offensive assistant at Florida when Rex Grossman played.
  12. I just looked at some combine results and I think Zay Jones WR answered any concerns about his speed. That was a concern I heard from a former NFL scout on him saying his playing speed was too slow. He could very well go Round 2 now and may be too rich for us now. I think we both have like Switzer for a couple years now. He seems like the player GB or NE would swoop up right away.
  13. I think Garrett goes #1 and SF takes the QB unless they somehow sign Cousins. If Bears do select a QB, I hope they bring in every resource to make him successful.
  14. At 3, no way. We have other needs that can be filled with the #3 than risking it on a player that was only considered bc he was a BPA at the time. Get a S or QB and see how Bullard turns out, he was taken pretty high to eventually be a starter and we have a 2nd invested in Ferguson and a 3rd in Sutton who should all be in the rotation.
  15. If we fill the needs at QB, S, CB, TE, WR, OT, DT, and OLB, then upgrading RB depth works. I am sure we will address a handful of these next week in FA, if so then get another stud that pushes Langford for the #2 spot.
  16. Melifonwu and Hooker wouldn cure that insecurity. I think we only need a true FS to be honest. Draft time we expand our need list.
  17. I am curious about his 40 time. Heard his playing speed is too slow and he may have trouble getting open in the NFL. Like his hands and everything else. Maybe another Jerry Rice?
  18. I am torn between Adams and Hooker also. I want all the prospects, but they will need to address QB somehow, whether it is a first or second pick or a FA. If we really wanted to only focus on Defense, Adams RD1 and Baker Rd2 or Hooker Rd1 and Obi Melifonwu Rd 2 or 3 would give the Bears an exciting dual for years. 1-J Adams SS 2-B Baker FS 3-A Jackson CB A backfield with these three would be exciting but it would question Pace in spending picks on Deon Bush and DeAndre Houston-Carson and giving up on them so soon, especially knowing we could have Zac Prescott with the Bush pick.
  19. I think we are safe from drafting RB this year. Howard Langford and Carey are all under contract. Next draft it wouldn't surprise me.
  20. The Jets know we are easy to trade with and with the D they have why not go for an established QB even though he has flaws.
  21. QBs measured in. Looks like a 6'2" class besides Kizer at 6'4". Kizer 9-7/8" and Watson with 9-3/4" hand size. BTrubisky 9-1/2" and Mahomes 9-1/4" just a little smaller.. Mariotta had 9-7/8" hands and Winston 9-3/8" for comparing.
  22. If you are asking about my mock, it was 4 trades in the first. Moved from 3 to 6, picked up Chargers 2nd and 3rd for moving down. Then Cincy traded pick 9 for 6 and gave their 2nd RD and 3rd Rd pick. Then Cleveland traded 12 for pick 9 and gave their 2nd. Last was Indy that traded 14 and their 2nd, which i traded that 2nd to TB for their 2nd and 3rd. Unrealistic, but every time I came up to pick I was offered great value to move a couple of slots.
  23. I think they may want Cutler and that was one reason they released Marshall. Maybe we can swing a deal with those two involved and maybe a pick.
  24. Just saying Foster is a rare ILB prospect. You haven't seen one mock on this board taking him or even one on other websites so it is just a few admiring him. Trevathan may not be ready early on or at all, his injury is one of the hardest to return from which hasn't been talked about much yet ,so we only have 2 capable starters as of now. Freeman is on his last year on a 2 year deal, eventually they will need more depth.
  25. Achieved the A+ finally, but they graded many picks B's. Hard to figure out how this works. This draft would replenish the depth with a lot of potential and many positions, I was glad I was offered 2nd RD picks to move down 2-3 slots every time my pick came up. Your score is: 13107 (GRADE: A+) Your Picks: Round 1 Pick 14 (IND): DeShone Kizer, QB, Notre Dame (B+) Round 2 Pick 1 (CLE): Cam Robinson, OT, Alabama (A-) Round 2 Pick 4: David Njoku, TE, Miami (Fla.)
