Thank God I was starting to worry I'd have to talk football with my fiance and as much as I love her she's a packers fan and that's rough enough
-
This is great except let's keep in mind this would be assuming all 5 guys can stay healthy. And that's a major major question mark with these guys lately. Long and sitton and great pro bowl guard which means squat if they can't stay on the field. I do think it's a good line but it's only on paper. Let's see if the same 5 guys start the 1st 4 games. Then we can talk

Making tackles? Yeah if only the team could do that. We haven't seen that in several years. Take the ball away? If only it was that simple. I'm sorry but last yr this was one of the worst defenses in the entire league. Especially at creating turnovers. I can't remember a team in my life time who was worse at it than us. I want to share your enthusiasm for the team unfortunately i don't think I could get so drunk to make that kind of statement. I see improvement being made but not a 7 game or more improvement in the win column

Wow just wow. So many of you hated him, wanted him gone. Well he's gone and y'all still killing him. Just let it go already. He's an analyst and your just going to have to deal with it or just listen to the radio. But regardless he no longer has any say in the outcome of the games. Just like when buck does the games. It is what it is. I'm glad he's gone but I'm not going to go into the games wondering how Cutler is going to say because honestly I'm tuning into the game to watch 2 teams play. I don't tune in for the commentary. I honestly don't care for many of the analyst

I'd be more shocked if white was standing out and shinning to be honest. He has barely even practiced since we drafted him so it's definitely going to take time. I'm just happy he appears healthy and is out there
-
No absolutely not. But that wasn't the question. The question was posed if a franchise QB is needed. Simple answer is yes because everyone of those teams had 1. Look at every team that is contending yr in and yr out. Everyone of them has 1. You absolutely need more than just that 1 guy
-
In today's NFL you need a franchise QB. Without you pretty much have no shot of even getting to the Superbowl much less even winning one. You do whatever it takes to get that guy. None of us know if trubisky is that guy but pace believes he is. Which is why he made that deal. If it works he will looked on as the guy who finally solved the position. If it doesn't then he will be looking for new job. Look at list. Every QB on there are considered franchise guys while many of those are future hall of famers.

Good luck to him. I'm surprised as well but with that said he was the type of player that was going to say what was on his mind. Which it exactly what I want to see in the booth. Don't be afraid to hurt some feelings

Pass me some of that Kool aid brother
-
So you would rather let shaw go despite what we saw from him next pre season last yr? And do we really see going into the yr with a 3rd qb?
-
I actually love the idea of a change of pace back. I like what I've heard about Cohen but I also agree with you that it wasn't really a need and it was a reach
-
Yeah I felt immediately I'll when I heard a member of the media try claiming he was a qb whisperer. For as much as ppl in the media and cowboys nation destroy Romo he was a pretty good QB. His downfall was he just couldn't perform great in the postseason. He was good and even clutch during the regular season.

We did indeed give up a lot to get cutler but I ask. Did that trade set the franchise back or the fact the front office refused to surround him with talent. Such as a competent WR or an oline that could block better than my dead grandmother. Sorry that might be a little harsh. I honestly think it's the latter but that's a matter of opinion. We will never know
-
Yeah your right I feel bad about him hosting the draft party. That would be extremely awkward
-
Very valid point. But you also can't about taking a certain position just because of the staff

Supposedly McCaskeys told Pace he was to take MT

On #1 I wouldn't tell anyone who I wanted. Don't give your opponent an opportunity to back out with 2 and 3 that's the way things should be done. I make no bones about how I feel about the media. Why not use them to your advantage knowing exactly what they are going to do -
Your absolutely right he could have but he didn't. He continued to work his ass off and waited for his time. That tells me he won't ever give up when times get tough. Could we ever say that about cutler? Don't think so. He could have also pissed and bitched about it and let it become a distraction in the locker room. But no by all accounts he continued to help his fellow teammates in making sure they were ready. So we are getting a great locker room guy who is willing to work his rear end off til he gets his shot and doesn't back down from any challenge. This is the type of guy I want running my team. A true leader. When was the last time our qb was a true leader
-
The problem I have with going that route is that we continue to kick the can further and further down the street. Keep saying if so and so doesn't pan out we will address next yr. Then next yr comes the problem is still there and we still don't address it. And we can't continue to throw mid to late round draft picks at the position Hopingit sticks because for every Tom Brady you will find 20 guys or more who didn't even last 5 yrs in the league let alone ever start more than a handful of games. I do understand why ppl are upset and even I was on record as saying I wanted Allen or hooker this yr but even I have to applaud pace for giving it his all to finally fix a position that has been a hindrance since before many of us were even born
-
*Applauds*. Well written. You might be right that the previous 20+ years have destroyed our thinking. I do agree it all comes down to the coaching staff having a plan for these guys and putting them in a good position to succeed. I'm 1 that hates to try and grade a draft just 3 days removed the draft. It's foolish as the draft by nature is very fickle. Now my friend grab a drink and take a breather after that post lol

I don't share your sentiments on last year's team. I get your point of getting luck with the injuries but even with alot of luck I don't see 8-8 from last yr. The team lacked playmakers and although the defense did perform better and was mediocre the problem was that defense simply couldn't make plays to get off the field and I've never seen a defense so bad at creating turnovers. That team was setup to suck. I see better things this yr and it's all going to start with the oline. We have screwed this up so much in the past but we finally have a qb that might be that guy but none if it can't matter if he spends as much time on his ass as Cutler did his 1st several years
-
Excellent find I never even realized that myself
-
Good point. We moved up 2 spots to #9 last year to get him and so far it has worked out

That 49er thing smells bad. By all accounts Lynch wanted Thomas the entire time. So if that's true why in the world would lynch trade the pick if he seriously thought the bears would take Thomas. No gm makes that trade if he thinks the team is going to take the player he wanted -
I see it the same exact way. He certainly could have at NC. Yet he was a team player and was friends with williams
-
Excellent point. It's fun being armchair gm/scout/coach. Our position has a lifetime contract and guaranteed never to be fired even if we are wrong on everything for an entire decade lol
