Typical Lemon spell check on names the FB I like is named Jalston Fowler not Jason. My glasses only work when I look ththrough them.lol

This was one of the most informative and engaging interviews I have ever heard. He described Pace as a cutting edge GM and that he had been after him for two years . He said he told Loomis that if this guy wants to be a GM he needs to interview now. He also talked about how the impromptu interview went down with Todd Bowles and said after that Pace lead the interviews for all the rest of the candidates and that he took the background when Fox became available. He really feels strongly about Adam Gase as a HC candidate from his interview with him and he talked about how Fangio had made Eli Manning look out of sorts when his defense had an attack plan against him.

I don't hate them its just that a lot of their talk is their opinion or bust. I have on occassion have listened to Speigel and Mannely( former Bear) on the SCORE and enjoy them because they don't project a vibe of being arrogant and actually have some decent guests as well. Right now Ernie Accorsi is on ESPN !000.

The rb position I want addressed is FB. When Matt Forte had a FB in the lead blocker role he was a force in the run game.Tyler Clutts and Tony Fiametta were his last FBs. I'm not saying get two guys because that would be crazy. I like Alabama's Jason Fowler at 5-11 264 thats like having a OG in the back field.

I truly believe he will let his OC decide. Recent history shows he was the HC that saw Orton benched and Tebow inserted as a starter.

Do you mean "tools" or measurables? The ball that Wilson threw to win the game was a perfect throw and what you want out of your QB on a deep throw. One of the sites I frequent for draft prospects had Hundley rated neck and neck with Mariotta. The west coast QBs have all taken a crap on themselves when they got to the NFL except Aaron Rodgers and Andrew Luck. IMO the scouts I'm sure are trying to project what these two guys can do on the next level and I believe that that will have some affect. I've noticed in the last couple of years teams are holding out on reaching for a qb after seeing what happen with RGIII, Christian Ponder, Geno Smith and a couple of others. These trends are fascinating when it comes to draft time and I predict that the RB position may make a slight come back in the early rounds this year with Melvin Gordon being a late first rd pick.

That is why I listen down the dial because the two host on that show are smarter than all the callers and listeners.
-
Thinking because this is a weak QB class Hundley may drop similar to Fales last year the only way he rises is Jim Mora says clearly that he thinks he can handle the transition. Russell Wilson was much more polished coming out and the only knock on him was his size. and Crowder's size and the fact that he could be no more than a slot WR puts him in this round IMO

Agreed! I also think that the more vulnerable he feels(injuries), the more he is going to act out. He realizes the end is near, why else would he be promoting his workout facility he opened up in this area and the whispers about him being a non-playoff WR as well as he and Cutler together may also be a factor to his behavior. BTW I meant WR Diva like Steve Smith and TO.Not like he was soft. I have seen him making blocks since he came here and agree he is the total package when it comes to play on the field. When I measure Marshall up against 2 of my all time favorite WRs Drew Pearson and Jerry Rice never needed to mug for the camera or hold press conferences.

I like the of adding these players during FA: Knighton DT Veteran nose tackle to plug the middle Green TE with only Bennett signed and healthy we need more depth Moore S The more bodies at this position the better. I also think Jennings should be a candidate for this position also since he is more of a zone CB. Then I follow that by drafting these prospects: 1. Shane Ray DE 2. Denzel Perryman ILB 3. Laken Tomlinson OG This is based on Long moving to OT 4. Jamison Crowder WR/KR 5. Brett Hundley QB 6. Louis Trinca-Pasat DT 7. AJ Tarpley ILB

I truly believe that Marshall has influence in the lockerroom and during the offseason. I remember last year with all the pictures of Bears players at his workout facility tweeted out or instagrammed or whatever and some included Cutler. Gase was a young WR position coach at Denver while Marshall was there so he has to have some kind of relationship with him. This was all before his diagnosis and marriage and now parenthood which should all calm some of our fears. FWIW this is the most prolific WR the Bears have ever had and he like all the new breed WRs is a Diva. The strong rumors about Gase is that everywhere he interviewed thought he was one and done and if you are trying to rebuild an offense you want more of a committed staff for the long haul. That is what is cool about Fox he doesn't seem to care about that. He has two guys who interviewed for HC jobs as his coordinators while two of his former coordinators are HCs.

With our two DEs on the mend and Jared Allen and some unprovens, an edge pass rusher is essential and what kind is to be determined by VF. This is anexperienced smart DC and he will see what he has to work with and form the scheme. My preference is a hybrid of whatever base D we have be flexible enough to keep a team guessing and versatile enough to use the same personnel if a team is in no huddle.

This is really getting weird Joe DeCamillas to Denver as special teams coordinator.
-
The biggest thing I took from the press conference is that Ryan Pace introduced the new head coach not George or Ted.

In terms of stature in the league Fox I believe has enough clout to control Weis or whoever is his OC.I also believe Weis is desperate and arrogant enough to tell Fox he can fix Cutler. Under Belichick he was a decent play caller even though the player executing his plays is HOF caliber. IIRC he had one years as a OC in KC with some success after his ND debacle and before he wen to Florida to be OC for the Gators before going to Kansas and stinking up the state.

I'm puzzeled by the optimism about a switch to a 3-4 with the mention of Houston and Young as starters. Don't these 2 players have significant injuries that may limit their ability to work this offseason. An ACL and Achilles injury are not easy to recover from. With the presumed switch its a fantasy to believe these 2 can be ready by OTAs or mini camps when the new staff will be taking this team thru the paces of their scheme and terminology.
-
Listening to ESPN radio Chicago a caller told Waddle and Silvy that he has a friend working security at HH and also Adam Schefter has tweeted that the Bears have interest in Weis.

If this team is going to get back to traditional Bears defense why would they switch to a different front? In todays NFL most teams play hybrids of whatever their base defense is anyway. Do we have the lock down corners to make a switch to a heavy blitzing scheme? No! This team can still play the same scheme with a solid addition at LB and a top CB prospect as well as control the ball more on offense. The top defense in our division Detroit plays a 4-3. In most 3-4 fronts throughout the years since teams started using that front more than 40 years ago would rush 4 players on every down. The most famous one from the 80's that featured Lawrence Taylor coached by Belichick rushed Taylor on most downs and had Carson, Banks and Reasons play traditional LB roles. The secondary wasn't as acclaimed as the front seven but with 2 HOF players in the front seven any one could play behind that group. Right now this team doesn't have the type of players to implement the scheme and I don't want to endure more losing for them to be able to change a scheme. 3 of the four teams in this division play 4-3.The one team that doesn't is the packers and theirs only works because they have the QB to over come whatever lapses they have.
-
You have some decent guaranteed coin invested in 3 traditional DE(Allen,Houston and Young) You have four potential 4-3 DT's counting Paea if resigned and you think that they will switch to a 3-4 right away? That would be a fantasy. This team would need to make at least two drafts and add some key FA pickups to pull that off and with so much money tied up in the offense, I don't think that is going to happen right away. BTW one of the names also mentioned is Mike Smith as DC who as Jax DC ran a 4-3 similar to Jauron and Blache.

Press conference Mon at 11am.
-
That was the biggest most hyped nothing press conference I've heard. You don't make all that pomp and circumstance for a player returning to school. Everyone else makes a statement and thats it.
-
DBDB I agree and feel safety is a big reach this year in the first round of the draft. If I had a choice of taking a position that is a reach it would be LB. I have been on the record for saying I like Denzel Perryman but an outside backer at 7 depending on our defensive scheme would not upset me either.
-
TD your avatar sig is outstanding the Sanford and Son Episode featuring Della Reese is priceless. I have mixed feelings about Shannahan as OC considering he worked with two of the most over hyped young QBs in the NFL. The problem is he was on the staff in Denver when Cutler was there and leads me to believe that he couldn't correct his flaws when he was younger and it won't happen now. So if Kyle Shannahan is your choice then you bring him in with the Idea that he is going to be your choice to get this offense going moving forward.
-
I have no idea what Pace will do but trying to dissect what the Saints did during his time there is a research project waiting for me to embark on. With their benching of Kenny Vaccaro and Tampa trading Barron, safety is going to be a real tough call at 7 for Pace.

Every year I gush over a player or two and take things to an obssession at times, this year's object of the lemonej man crush is Amari Cooper. I think that he is a dynamic player and will be a star in the league. True this is not a position of need but some of the best teams in the league year in year out take the best player available and make it work. If Cooper falls to the Bears at 7 I say take him. Last Year I wanted Aaron Donald and he went before the Bears pick. I'm hesitant to tout another Ala Saban DB because they haven't so far transitioned well in the NFL including a couple of his LSU DBs also. Previously I have sang the praises of Alshon Jeffries(couldn't spell name right), Suh, Marcus Colston, Daniel Manning and D' Brickishaw Ferguson. WTBS I think Collins might Be the pick but would prefer a true difference maker. What are your thoughts?
