The transistor radio on home games was you best friend wasn't it? lol

This is the age of cell phones. text messages and social media. There was no need for him to fly home if its a done deal. The pessimist in me is thinking Dave McGinnis. He should have eveery one he needs already programmed in his phone. I think Marrone or another candidate is lurking in the water.
-
Agreed should have been a natural idea with the New Orleans connection with Pace, Payton and Marrone. Jeff Dickerson ESPN's Bears beat reporter is saying don't rule Marrone out because of that very factor.
-
Supposedly they are currently talking to him now as he allegedly arrived in town in the Noon hour CST. John Clayton is currently on AM 1000 WMVP(ESPN) talking about how something might happen today.

Lets see bring in Schwartz to run the defense and sign a FA DT to anchor that defense. Hmmmm!

Two years after I started watching Bears football games, the longtime coach decided to re-retire and turn the reigns over to a first time head coach and his defensive coordinator. The resulting season was an injury riddled underacheiving season for the team. The star player got injured and the starting QB got injured and on the last game of the season a game in which if the Bears won they had a chance at the playoffs and in the 4th qtr an interception was thrown in the endzone to end the Bears chances. The year was 1968, the star player was Gayle Sayers who suffered a season ending knee injury(see Brian's Song), the starting QB was Virgil Carter who had replaced Jack Concannon who came to the Bears in the Ditka trade and he suffered a broken leg after Sayers got hurt and made the team go back to him and Rudy Bukich. The team that ended the Bears season that year was The Packers and Ray Nitchske made the pick to seal the Bears fate. This history review is just a reminder that this franchise has hired or promoted first time head coaches from within or the hot coordinator in the league for over 40 years since the Ol" Man was the coach. The only two exceptions were Jack Pardee who had HC experience in the World Football League and Mike Ditka who basically begged for the job and was just a special teams coordinator in Dallas. These two men produced the second playoff game in my lifetime and the only SB win in my lifetime. Prior these two and in between there have been first time HC after another who have not fufilled Bears fans dreams. So in the name of Jim Dooley, Abe Gibron, Jack Pardee, Neil Armstrong, Mike Ditka, Dave Wannstedt, Dick Jauron, Lovie Smith and Marc Trestman all first time HCs please kick the tires on John Fox and any other former HC to right this ship.

I put Greg Gabriel in the Hub Arkush category. They both were terminated by this franchise but follow everything that happens and are on speed dial with all media outlets paper and electronic to chime in their slanted opinions.

Why Marrone ? He bolted like a lot of guys have from college(Syracuse) early in their pro coaching careers. Petrino, Saban and Spurrier. True he was on the Saints staff but what did he do at Buffalo that makes you think he is a good fit here?
-
Either way he trumped all the so called NFL rumor mill experts, which leads me to believe it was a family member.
-
Supposedly he blew them away in the interview and it looks as though this has Accorsi's finger prints all over this. He is 37 years old and has some ties to the Parcells tree through Payton. He also is an Eastern Ill U grad.

Presser tomorrow at 11 am.

Confirmed on AM 1000 by Waddle and Silvy and the Bears broke the news. Worked under Mickey Loomis with the Saints for 13 years as a scout , Director of Player Personnel and then Director of Pro Personnel.

I like the thought of Fewell as DC because he plays the attacking style of defense in the 4-3 that we need in the NFC North. When he broke ranks with Lovie I knew he was his own man. He went to be Les Mile DC at Okla ST then got the Giants job.
-
Call me crazy but I like the thought of Stanford's Shaw or Sumlin from A&M because of what needs to happen to this team. They need to take the young players and build around them and I like the tought of both those coaches coming to the NFL especially after Harbaugh,Carroll and Kelly make that move recently with some success. With the current talent on the DL I like the thought of Mike Smith as a DC because of how his defenses played in Jax before he got the HC job in ATL. He had to beasts for DTs I remember one being Marcus Stroud.

Hundley has been inconsistent the last two years so he would be a work in progress and to me should have a middle round grade. My first two picks would be on defense Collins SS and Perryman MLB.The only way I vary from the first pick is if Amari Cooper is on the board at 7. He would be hard to pass up team him with Marshall and Jeffrey and we start to approach this like the current NFC North Champ by taking the best player on the board regardless of need. With Marshall showing some wear and tear the last two years it makes since to look to add talent via the draft. Wilson's hands look a little suspect right now also. This of course is only based on Cooper dropping to the 7th pick. Landon Collins is my choice in round 1.

scs787 for giggles and laughs I believe I am one of the most superstitious members of this board and have flat out resorted to some strange behavior during games. Change shirts drinking a shot after TDs with a beer chaser to throwing a cap on the floor when there's a turnover. I have finally convinced myself that wearing a Cutler away jersey which I hate and shaving my facial hair into a goatee is the formula for success right now. So you do whatever is necessary brother I support you.lol

The way this season is going I'm more concerned with the home games than the road games. I do agree that this is a must win but only because its at home and they have yet to win one here. Before the season I was thinking that they may be hovering around 500 after six games just because 4 were on the road.

I think Ka Deem Carey is doing fine running inside the tackles and would like for him to get the ball more to preserve Forte for the whole season.
-
The three guys playing including Kaseem Greene were very solid with him leading with 8 tackles. Sharpton was much more physical than DJ Williams and I hope he is considered for the starting Mike spot from this point forward. Christian Jones is also showing that he is going to be a force in the future. You saw speed to the ball, depth in pass drops and some attitude from these guys and the whole D when it came to tackling. There was some hits being delivered big time. Since Williams and Conte have spent a lot of time injured the last 2 seasons why not put someone else in who can stay healthy.
-
This draft class has made more of an impact than any draft class since 83. Fuller is the best 1st rdr since Tommie Harris when healthy.

Now there is suppossed to be more discipline on that team but the moronic behavior continues. The play was a simple sack and not a scoring play but, Tulloch(the leader) felt the need to mock Rodgers and hurt himself doing so. The one thing about the Lions that I noticed big time is how they controlled the clock on the Packers and ran 38 times on them.

The next man up philosophy has become our rally cry under Emery and he has done a decent job pugging holes so far.
-
To keep this in perspective Champ Bailey was the pick the Redskins made win they traded up with the Bears when they drafted Cade McNown. No thank you. We already have veteran leadership with Peanut assuming a coach's role now that he is on IR. I have enjoyed the young defenders getting a chance to get on the field and the results have been promising.

Obviously when the game is being played emotions are high but, I think we all need to sit back and just see what is going to happen believe it or not Buffalo is 2-0. and most of the experts were all over the Saints and they are winless after 2 weeks! Most of the NFC is 1-1 and so are the Bears afterb tonight maybe the media should keep pounding them as well as some of the posters that did during the game tonight.

Willie Young is out playing both Jared Allen and Lamar Houston so with Ratliff being hurt He should be the answer at DE and Houston should go inside as well as Sutton getting more plays he was decent as well.
