I remember experts(including Warren Sapp) calling Shariff Floyd the perfect fit for the Bears at 3 technique and they passed on him and he dropped to the Vikings at 23. BTW Mayock has him going 24th behind Marquise Lee.Emery passed last year and could very well do so this year. I really respect Mayock's opinion because he does college games which gives him an advantage over most prognosticators but, his mock goes really out of wack at 8. Plus not 1 QB in the top 10. So why would a 3 technique drop in most GM's eyes? They're not scheme versatile. Plus if I'm remembering right Emery is looking for versatile guys.

If you look at the Bears LBs on the roster Bostic is the heaviest at 6-1 246 and Jordon Senn is the lightest at 225. Williams the current starter at MLB is listed at 6-1 242.

After rd 4 I think that the list should be expanded to all positions and you go highest rated on the board. When he got to later rounds he to some of the defensive positions off the board.

Jimmy Ward is listed at 5-11 193 as a SS,Fuller 6-0 190. Body type?

This is ironic. Last year we were screamin' for OL and now we talk about passing a potential great one when we should add some depth at that position. Here is how I view things. If you can control the time of possession that also helps the defense by keeping them off the field. Taking Ebron or Matthews could help with that idea and wouldn't shock me but that is not my preference. Second thought is that if anyone thinks that you can rely on Ratliff, Paea and Collins who all have injury histories right now whether its ACL,Hamstring or feet. That puts you in the same category as last year where they will be forced to play a player out of position (Wooten last yr and Houston this yr).

Reportedly Mettenberger as well. They all had what was deemed as dilluted urine samples and each one claimed to be trying to rehydrate.

I'm lucky enough to schedule my vacation time during draft week. Since I work with mostly females there usually is no conflict for me to take the week off. So the grill will be out probably all three days.

Any of the first 3 picks used on guys that won't see the field on game 1 would piss me off. I also agree with everyone else that any of the top 6 defenders are there don't pass on them.

Not a fan of drafting a QB and then trying to put him on the practice squad. That backfired on the Bears with LeFevour a few years ago.I feel if you take the time to scout and like a QB well enough to use a draft pick then you should find a roster spot for them.

Looking at Webster as developmental TE as he is a raw athlete with little football experience if he could committ in the weight room he could turn out to be special. If the Bears take him it will be as a TE. They have enough developmental DEs and LBs already.
-
Looking at Bailey as a developmental FS. In size now Buccannon is the larger of the 2 since Bailey has dropped the weight down and won't be viewed as a LB in the NFL. Bucannon also is the more physical tackler while Bailey tends drag down ball carriers.

Just heard Jernigan may have a diluted urine sample just before the draft. Nice pick Lemon. lol. Same happened to Warren Sapp.

Timmy Jernigan Deone Bucannon Kelcy Quarles Dion Bailey Larry Webster Max Bullough Dontae Johnson

This is the first time he has been a HC. Before he had no say so. Do you really believe that? An offensive minded HC doesn't want a QB to groom?

I will try to stream it live currently on vaca for that reason.

This is an absolute hit for Emery and a testament to Howie and the values he instilled in this youngman. This was a very touching story and we can only hope that all our players have some similar traits going forward.

If the first 5 names on his list fell that way I could care less about the last 2.

I think a young drafted QB is a must because 1. Cutler gets dinged a lot regardless of how well the line plays and has a concussion history and 2 every regime since I have been watching the Bears have drafted and tried to develop a QB. 25 have been drafted by this team since '66. 7 in the first 2 rounds.11 while we had a starter in place. 8 since the draft went to 7 rds in 92. 7 of that 25 that were drafted after the first 2 rds actually started a game or 2 for the Bears. I posted this to say that Emery is blowing smoke. If there is a qb in the mid rds that is great value at that pick he will take him. It would be silly to rule out a position in the draft just for trading possibilities. The Redskins drafted RGIII and Kirk Cousins in the same draft 3 rds apart. At the time it seemed a little silly but once RGIII got hurt that wasn't a bad idea. More than likely if you draft a guy that fits your system he is going to wind up playing some snaps for you. All I'm saying is this is only the 3rd offensive minded coach the Bears have had since I have been following them in my 47 years and just believe that Trestman would love the chance to teach a guy he hand picked his system.

Qb would be the pick in the first 2 rds that would be WTF IMO. A WR ranks second on the list.

I've read all the responses and believe that Borland is a better prospect if limited to one side of the field. WTBS Jerrnigan is a viable option as well as the 2 safety prospects at 14 and if Mosley is taken because he is the BDPA so be it. All that does is put some pressure on pick 2 and that would definitely need to be a DT or S. We also need to expect marked improvement from the Isiah Rider young LBs including SMC because there is nowhere to go but up for him. BTW don't fall asleep on the prospect of Justin Gilbert or Darqueze Denard being a pick also. When do you pick Tillman's replacement now or next year?
-
This mock has the Bears going Donald, Joyner, McGill. That is 2 DBs and one DT in first 3. Ilike Donald and McGill but Joyner in RD 2 doesn't excite me.
-
I agree also but, if there is a trade partner who needs a WR I would do that but only for picks in this years draft that seems to be destined to yield some decent UDFAs also.

HHCD is considered a better fit in our alleged main scheme Cover 2 because of his coverage ability while Pryor is considered a heavy hitter and not as good in coverage.
