The Vikings got 3 of the top rated prospects at their positions. Floyd the number 1 3 tech DT when they play cover2 solid. Rhodes depending on who you listen to was top 2 or 3 at CB and Patterson again depending on flavor was 1 or 2 on WR lists. If the Bears had selected 2 of these guys at 20 they wouldn't be considered a reach.

So you are saying that the Colts draft where they went from worst to playoffs and had several of their rookies contribute in a major way was not a successful draft? Im just looking at their play on the field for year one. Luck, Allen, Fleener,Ballard and Hilton were all great. Of the five the only one who may not pan out is Ballard IMO.

I'm still not comfortable with McGown at a hit away from being the starter. Im looking at the Jets collection of qbs and got my eye on Mc Elroy. On the street after Trent Edwards there isn't much. Thoughts anyone?

I usually reserve my opinion on drafts for atleast a season. This was the first time in a long long time the Bears addressed quite a few needs. Last year's draft is a question mark with Brandon Marshall being the star of the draft so far. SMC and a healthy Hardin are what we need to see on the field to get a C out of it. I'm confused that a draft that was considered devoid of really solid first round talent could have anyone be called a reach when quite a few of the picks had limited playing experience or some serious medical issues. Lane Johnson, Ziggy Ansah, Dion Jordon, DJ,Hayden, Dee Milner,Bijoern Werner, DeAndre Hopkins and Travis Frederick can all be consdered a reach when they were picked. One of the biggest head scratchers for me was the Dolphins who lost their starter at LOT trading up and not taking the next highest rated LOT on the board. now who is the starter at LT for them. The way I look at this draft is that we yielded a possible starter at LG and some depth and youth at OL and LB. My only missing piece would be a young CB to replace DJ Moore at nickel because I'm not a Hayden fan.

Agreed the Earl Bennett experience has run its course. He is all he is going to be and tends to have a lot of nagging injuries. It seems Emery likes the bigger WRs.

Relegating Carimi and Webb to fighting for roster spots is also worth a boost to this draft grade. My only negative is no CB drafted. The top 3 on the roster are long in the tooth. Tillman ,Jennings and Hayden.
-
Why not? We had 2 7th rounders on the OL last season so how is a 5th rounder a stretch?
-
Aside from Lonergan where a lot of OCs are found the rest of the guys are long shots.
-
This is the guy that quit the team because of the coach. This is a solid player.
-
Thanks Guys I probably was at the grill bringing in the ribs when that went down.
-
Im lost when did they get a 7th?

When did the Bears get a 7th?

joking. Tryin to keep it light.

TT another negative post I'm getting my tissue you're so brutal. lol

now with all that has transpired look at the positions that have been filled and include the offseason. Then post what you think about this draft.
-
Bushrod-Long-Schwenke/Jones-Slauson-Webb/Carimi/Scott is in the mix here also.
-
With Minter and Alonso gone if you wanted an ILB this was the next rated guy.
-
U tell us why its not!
-
After knowing the big character issue label was pinned on him before the draft, even his dismissal should be cause for concern.

I understand your want for everyone to be selective at what they post but I must say I was one of the main ones who had to not take what someone is typing on a keyboard so personally. We are on this board about the Bears not our personal feelings about each others posts. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and we can all choose to agree with it or not. To bring someones profession into this to try and make them conform to a certain etiquette is not right either.

So you're telling me that if Cutler goes down you are comfortable with McCown and Blanchard as backups.
-
I remember at that age still being a tad on the silly side and ny parents did everythin in the world for and I had two older brothers to lead an example as for what to do and what not to do. I certainly believe in giving everyone a chance to screw up once. I still think of Stan Thomas and this pick is not as bad as that one was.
-
This draft is filled with some 12 step program candidates and we have a couple of candidates already on the roster. His profile sounds exactly like Honey Badger.

This seems like it was a smoke screen just like the Dee Milner is dropping because of medical crap. BTW Reid walking across the stage with his adorable daughter was a nice touch.

at 50 if we don't have a LB prospect or DT prospect that is a good fit and a QB prospect is there I would pull the trigger especially if it Geno Smith. Getting him at 50 is great value and insurance for another Cutler injury. I'm not 100% comfortable with Mc Cown and Blanchard as 2 and 3. I want a QB in this draft but just like passing on Floyd and Ogletree in rd 1 passing on a Barkley and Smith at 50 is the same.
