  1. Donald,Jerrnigan,Dix or Pryor should be the pick unless they intend to outscore everyone. If you take the DT in round one then look at a Jimmy Ward or Marcus Roberson in round two.
  2. Jason I agree but it was real frustrating to see Hester stand back on kickoffs and watch them sail over his head. On punts in the last couple of years teams would try and pin him to one side of the field and in his zest to try and make a play he would often make mistakes whether it was catching the ball inside the 10 or fair catching the ball when there was room for him to make an attempt. Again I will say that Devin Hester is the greatest Bears returnman in my 54+ yr life without a doubt but at 3 mil a yr for a maybe play and limited ability to flip the field like early in his career because of rule changes it is not worth it. The league keeps trying to change rules for kickoffs and extra points but don't remember the most memorable return in NFL history was Hester in the SB and the most recent memorable FG return was a record breaking return by Hester. They keep trying to tweak the game with safety in mind but if they are so worried about safety then they need to put flags on everyone. Of all the players involved in the on going safety lawsuits, if Jim McMahon is one of them then the league lawyers need to point to the fact that he headbutted his O-lineman after every score and maybe that had a little to do with his current problems.
  3. IMO Hester was too stupid to remain on offense and good riddance! He started off on defense and couldn't figure out what to do on that side of the ball and then got a huge contract to be a number one WR from two guys that didn't know offense and often ran the wrong routes and dropped passes. In my lifetime Hester is the greatest returnman in Bears history over my childhood idol Sayers and the legendary Ron "Gingerbreadman"Smith who never fair caught a punt.WTBS looking at him as anything but a returner now is a bit much. If this team can show a future HOF LB the door with a contract offer less than what Hester signed for, then why is it so much angst over a special teams player. Once Dante Hall left KC what did he do?
  4. he article and reading the fan comments(lol) don't bode well for me wanting Fairley on the Bears.I could see him being similar to Albert Haynesworth based on this report.
  5. When I started watching football the kickoffs were from the 40 yrd line and there were no soccer style kickers and most kickers doubled as players. Now with all the weight training in the game even the kickers are stronger than they were back-in-the-day. This is starting to become closer and closer to resembling scrimmages that used to occur regularly in preseason.
  6. scs I'm a little confused. I've looked at quite a few mocks and most have Donald right there for the Bears and since versatility is the theme and now the Cowboys signing Melton and Tampa solid at DT, I can only see maybe the Vikings going after Donald to replace Williams.WTHBS The Bears should have their choice of the top 2 DTs atleast one of the top 2 safeties and one of the top 2 CBs.
  7. It seems that we all forget to think of Washington as a possible rotaional player at DE.
  8. I rarely get attached to players since the advent of FA in the NFL but, I must say that since 66' I have watched every Bear CB and he is by far my number one and I hope he can end his career as a Bear. I used to hold out with Rosey Taylor as the best but its just like Sayers and Hester as a returner, Ive seen them both but the newer players are both the BIMLT(best in my lifetime).Ol Skool can be stubborn but in this case we all should cherish the fact that we have a high character guy and pillar in the area is still with the team and has a chance to end his legacy the right way like Payton, Fencik,Singletary, Hampton and Morris. Just for laughs this was the secondary when I started watching Bears games and could remember names. Rosey Taylor, Bennie McRae, Ritchie Pettibon and Joe Taylor( replaced Dave Whitsell who along with Doug Atkins was drafted by NO in the expansion draft
  9. Relax guys this is a 1 year deal.
  10. nothing non tenedred by puck.
  11. safety a restricted FA from Packers.
  12. Per Jeff Dickerson Bears just sign MD Jennings
  13. So much has changed over the years but IMO this is Phillip Daniels 2013. Now we know more info than then and don't have the same unrealistic expectations as we did when Daniels was signed.

    What if?

The scenario that is being presented means that there is a run on other positions prior to the 14th pick. WTBS it would have to be DB(CB or S).Leaving the top WR and the top 2 rated LBs on the board would give the Bears great bargaining power but I don't know if you can pass up a talent like Watkins at 14 unless your getting a number one and a 2nd.
  15. agreed! Same thing for Peppers, take a pay cut or take a hike.
  16. This is what we have been reduced to, debating whether a special teams only player is worth keeping at an above vet minimum salary. Hester has done some great things for this team and the league including being the first player to return the opening kick in the SB for a TD but if the Bears can tell Urlacher take it or leave it and Charles Tillman can be allowed to test FA without a deal why should Hester be thought of in a better mannner than those two? This team needs to spend money on rebuilding the defense with younger and better players and over paying a kick returner only wouldn't help. As bad as the special teams was last season, the only guys that deserve to comeback are Gould and Mannely. That means Weems and the whole bunch should have to fight for jobs on this team.
  17. You have heard the term smokescreen before, haven't you? Do you really think Emery is being totally upfront with his info at the Combine when most teams are in BS mentality with what they are looking for in prospects. Put the the stats from PFF aside and use a little common sense on this aspect. What better way to fool your competitors than to say your ruling out a certain size and length. The proof will be in who the Bears invite to Halas Hall for interviews as an indicator as to what their interest may be towards drafting guys.
  18. CJ Mosley is starting to get some love in the mocks to the Bears for those of you who are looking at mocks on walterfootball.com.
  19. Don't rule out Dee Ford who had a good Senior Bowl.
  20. For those who want to trade down, why do it with one of the strongest teams in your conference that has been to the conference championship 3 years in a row?
  21. Let me clarify. He was signed by the Bears with not too many suitors because of his size and supposed scheme fit. Don't get me wrong I like him in the cover 2 but I have seen him struggle against tall WRs one on one. Again I believe that it would be foolish to resign him as a core player and ask him to do something he is not great at and that is press coverage.
  22. Reread your post and see who you compared him too. Isn't Bush with Detroit? So with him and Bell etched as their one two punch what would be left for a raw project RB but special teams or practice squad.
  23. How many years has Jennings played in the league and how tall is he? His combine speed has nothing to do with when he is one on one with Megatron, Nelson, Jones or other receivers who have size. Why has he bounced around the league a little? The team that originally drafted him( Colts),drafted him for a zone scheme similar to what the Bears play. Remember our starting nickel was supposed to be Kelvin Hayden who also played in this scheme with the Colts and actually picked off Grossman in the Super Bowl. His success here is strictly based on him being a scheme fit. He is a more solid all around version of Nate Vasher, who was tabbed the "Interceptor" but lagged in the open field tackling that Jennings excels in. Thats why Vasher is out the league and Jennings has hung in there.
  24. Just thinking. For those of us, myself included who are not impressed with mel tucker(no caps until he fixes the defense), the hiring of Pasq .... is a prelude to Tucker getting launched.Look for it to happen early in season if there is no marked improvement in the defense. Pasq will take over as DC and then the 3-4 look that they will feature as a change of pace will be more of the base defense. BTW everyone keeps hoping for Peanut to take a move to safety but I think Jennings with a multi-year contract is more of a candidate with his ball skills and tackling ability.
