I rank them the same but if all are off the board go with BPA and hope Alonso Or Bostic are there at 4th rd pick.

TT never apologize for you being you because thats what most of us like about you. You pull no punches and we know its your love for this team that motivates your responses. Stay the same Dog!.

Does anyone on this board think his HOF father isn't going to do everything that he can to make what seems like one of his most troubled offspring have all the support he needs to succeed in this league? He already enlisted the help of Jimmy Johnson and Tony Wise.
-
When we drafted Charles Tillman at pick 35 of the 2nd rd. All we heard was reach, reach, reach. Back in 2003 Then the next pick was Briggs. I want to wait and see the next pick before I make an assessment but this puts the whole OL on notice that you need to come to play. That is what I do like. I had a 2nd rd grade on Long myself but I am far from an expert. After hearing Tony Wise this morning who worked him out before the Combine as a favor to Howie thru Jimmy Johnson he felt Long could potentially be a LT. That was eye opening. Wise before Tice and Kromer was considered the OL guru in the NFL. I give him credit for helping Big Cat develop into a solid RT.

Why would you take a guy you franchised at DT dollars and play him at DE which would make him even more difficult to sign to a deal because of the better dollars for DEs vs DTs? If you think we need to draft some interior DL depth I agree but whats wrong with a D-line of Wooten/Melton/Paea/Peppers? Right now the depth is SMC,McBride,Ozougwu and Whiteside at DE behind Peppers and Wooten. At DT Collins is the only depth at that position. This is a need at DT because of health and dollar concerns. One of my wack mocks had the Bears taking Trufant. Ipersonally hope they can trade back a few spots and grab Rhodes and more picks.

After the 3 FA signings for the defense this thread is a funny read and some of everyones comments towards each other seemed very emotional and a tad inappropriate. I hope in the future that all who post here realize that this new GM keeps a tight seal on what he is going to do and that waiting for his next move maybe the way to go.

Precise is what I can say about the way Emery is going about business. It obviously is a well thought out plan that he is executing with stealth like efficiency.
-
If what we just witnessed with them letting Roach go and telling Hester you"re a returnman only and telling Urlacher you are only worth 2 million, tells me that Briggs and Tillman can't be far behind with this type of thinking going on.
-
Sting maybe so but there is no buzz about him currently.
-
Just heard Brian Mitchell on Sports Talk Live on Comcast Sports Net and he is a little upset about Hester being "Demoted" but he used Dave Toubs name as trying to make changes. That cancelled his credibility.

AG thats what I needed to see. I believe this kid has yet to show what he could do. I remember he was the next best thing coming out of Maryland that has had a player that had some buzz going into the draft evey year tha fact that hedidn't fare well at Oakland doesn't mean a thing. Charles Woodson is a former Raider.

I thought this was heading this way I just didn't want to say so. This is a new regime and he is the poster child for Lovie and his regime. We have never experienced a Bears HOF LB not retire with the team but it does remind me of Butkus leaving the Bears and suing about his medical treatment. This has to be viewed in a bad PR way when you see how Ray Lewis went out but if you look at how Nick Barnett and Keith Brooking are playing for other teams, its understandable that they have decided to go elsewhere.

With them in need of 2 ILBs this could be a landing spot for Rolando McClain. I believe that they would hope for Ogletree to fall to them but McClain and Te'o would be an ideal pairing in the middle. As far as the Bears are concerned if Urlacher is resigned you slide him in to the SLB spot now and groom him for one of the ILB spot that they may eventuallly go to under Tucker.I personally for sentimental reasons never want to see the Bears play a 3-4 but I have to realize that teams are playing read option now and times are changing.
-
I've already made comments about him resuming his boxing career in jest but I liked Tommy Z coming out of ND and really wouldn't have a problem with him here instead of Waters or Stelz.
-
Would Darius Heyward-Bey fit the bill as a speed addition to this team. Whats the deal with him? This was a first round WR that has yet to breakout. Is he a bad route runner or what?
-
Your 2nd rounder is a tweener and until we know for a fact that Tucker is switching to a 3-4 he is not a fit. As I have stated before Honey Badger should not go this early because of is character issues and besides at 5-9 he is not a guy who you should be thinking can shut down a Calvin Johnson or Greg Jennings down the road. He is a nickel back that you should utilize as a returner

Another trend that is quietly showing up in NFL playbooks is the extra OT playing in short yardage and goal line situations maybe those mocks that have the Bears on Fluker(I don't believe that) are assuming that they may use that formation from time to time. Just think, if you are lined up against a Terrell Suggs or Clay Matthews and you can make them run past 600 pounds instead of 300 miight be effective.

Again looking at what Emery did last season at the DE position when Reilly Reif was on the board makes me feel he may be willing to do anything, then trading up in the second round for a WR when the OL was still an issue stunned me again. This is a make or break year for Cutler and if its break his replacement needs to be on the roster this year and I would prefer that it would be a young draft pick that Tresstman can tutor. We also have to consider both Jeffrey and Marshall a part of this draft since they were the reasons for the draft picks being gone.If you want a potential replacement for your QB when do you pick him?
-
I also looked at gbn's 3rd mock and they have the Bears drafting Fluker and Te'o. NFL Network analyst Bucky Brooks must have been drinking what I had because he has the Bears taking Trufant. One of his collegues Josh Morris has Womack falling to the Bears. That would be shocking if he dropped that far. Most of the other analyst haven't posted since FA started and have the Bears taking Eifert.

I'm thinking old skool 2 hand touch where the rushers go 1 Mississippi... lol

All I know is that some pretty good teams with solid starting QBs have taken QBs early and it turned out to be good moves for the teams future.GB does it annually with Farve,Brunnel,Brooks and Rodgers. With Rodgers, Flynn, Broehm(sp?) and Harrell. The Redskins have twice in recent memory drafted 2 QBs in 1 draft Schuler and Ferrotte and last season RGIII and Cousins. NE drafted Cassell and Mallett with Brady entrenched as the starter. Seattle signed 2 FA QBs and then drafted Wilson that turned out pretty nice.SF had a number one overall pick at QB that got them to the NFC championship game but the previous year spent a 2nd rd pick on Kapernick. That turned out to be a solid move IMO.Tenn with Hasselback takes Locker. Det with Stafford takes Stanton. This is all off the top of my head and if I looked at draft history I could find more times this happens. Just like the Niners took Kapernick because Smith had yet to play up to his draft status an early QB pick by the Bears would not be met with scorn by me. I know this team has other pressing needs but consistent QB play is also a need for this team. If Geno Smith happens to fall to 20 and Emery thinks he is the BPA and takes him so be it. That would send shock waves through the lockerroom and put the QB on notice. Last year while Forte was whinning about his contract they signed Bush.Emery took SMC when he had Peppers,Idonije and Wooten on the roster. He is not afraid to go against the grain with his moves. If SMC winds up staring this year at OLB(Its looking like a real possibility) then that move may have been good.
-
Just looked at Walterfootball mock very interesting: Fluker OT Stedman Bailey WR Ty Powell OLB Brian Winters OG Deangelo Peterson TE
-
I'm kinda puzzled by Forte's comments since he doesn't really lead with his helmet. I could see him getting vocal if they outlawed his jump cut. For years I have been saying that if they are calling hands to the face penalties and leading with the crown of the helmet penalties on defenders then why is it different when a RB leads with his helmet or stiff arms a defender in the helmet.

BB you know me by now and I get a woody for certain college players and this year its Lattimore. I also like Spencer Ware.
