  1. Hopefully if he does go to Minn, he too will fall off his game just as Freeney did last year!!
  2. The Chiefs are willing to listen to trade offers for Jared Allen, according to NFL Network's Adam Schefter and FoxSports.com. He is visiting Minnesota on Friday and is expected to visit Tampa next Friday. Allen is one of the five most valuable defensive players in the NFL, so any trade for him would be a blockbuster. It's a curious move by the Chiefs, who placed the franchise tag on Allen. They can rebuild with draft picks, but they are admitting they can't afford to keep their top talent. Allen will likely require a huge contract, a first-round pick, and probably more for any interested suitors. Minnesota has a higher first round pick than Tampa and is likely the favorite. Look for a trade on or before draft day.
  3. Never know what the season will bring but this article seems to be the closest thing to what the truth will be with the Bears this season. Way too many ??? to be a promising season. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...,7287264.column
  4. Keeping Benson in the starting line up seems to be costing us wins if he continues to perform on the pace he's on. No win situation, I would rather be done with him then suffer through another year.
  5. The Chicago Sun Times believes that the Bears are more likely to cut ties with Cedric Benson this offseason than Garrett Wolfe. Admitting mistakes isn't GM Jerry Angelo's strongsuit, so a three-year old error would be a bit easier to deal with than a one-year old admission. Wolfe still has potential, but is unlikely to be higher than third on the depth chart. Source: Chicago Sun Times Long-term contract discussions between the Bears and DT Tommie Harris have broken off. Getting him locked up is still the Bears' priority, but Harris and his agent (Drew Rosenhaus) are asking for record money. Chicago is thought to have offered more than the seven years, $50.5 million Tommy Kelly got. Harris is taking part in the offseason program, so he doesn't seem too disappointed Robbie Gould has been staying away from the Bears' offseason program. Gould is in the last year of his rookie contract. The Bears are interested in signing him long term, but Tommie Harris and Devin Hester may come first.
  6. The Dolphins have reportedly begun contract discussions with Michigan OT Jake Long. Don't read too much into this; the 'Fins will probably talk numbers with UVA DE/OLB Chris Long and possibly Ohio State DE/OLB Vernon Gholston before the draft as well. Still, the negotations indicate that Jake is being seriously considered for the No. 1 overall pick. To avoid a holdout, Miami wants a contract in place before making its choice, unlike Oakland last year. Oklahoma WR Malcolm Kelly ran forty times of 4.75 and 4.68 at his Pro Day on Wednesday. This may very well knock the underclassman out of first-round consideration, although his knees may not be 100%. By comparison, Dwayne Jarrett ran 4.67 and 4.62 at his Pro Day a year ago and went No. 45 overall. Kelly's vertical leap (32") also was unimpressive. He did reportedly look "very good" in position drills. Teammate Reggie Smith ran 4.65 and 4.61. Non-zone teams may only look at Smith as a safety now
  7. Mario Manningham and Aqib Talib have reportedly been removed from "multiple teams'" draft boards due to alleged marijuana use in college. Talib reportedly acknowledged at the Combine that he tested positive for pot three times at KU. Mario denied testing positive initially, then sent a letter to all 32 teams admitting he lied. Manningham claims he failed two drug tests at Michigan. Gaines Adams, Amobi Okoye, and Calvin Johnson were involved in a similar situation last year. Their draft stocks were not affected. Apr. 8 - 10:41 am et Source: Pro Football Weekly ESPN.com reports that a campaign is underway to oust NFLPA chief Gene Upshaw. This is a story that will reverberate throughout the NFL. Upshaw has been seen to win the last round of labor talks, but has been criticized as being too close to the commissioner's office. Matt Stover of the Ravens emailed a plan to fellow player reps to oust Upshaw by 2009. "Matt Stover has no clue. Whoever is pulling his chain is doing a disservice to the union," Upshaw said. Troy Vincent would be a possible replacement. Apr. 8 - 12:56 pm et Source: ESPN.com
  8. He's rich, and a ladies man, sure he should use better judgement, cause the chic's were all under age, who cares they are in college and grown women!!! I joined the Navy when I was 19 and they will let me DIE for my country but not drink a beer, Crazy! Society needs to focus on real issues instead of this stuff.
  9. Fun article about some Bears fans and players hanging out in Mexico. http://www.suntimes.com/lifestyles/879790,...-cabo06.article
  10. Michael Vick is reportedly washing pots and pans for 12 cents an hour and playing football in prison. "Apparently, there was a prison football team and he played quarterback for both sides," Falcons owner Arthur Blank said. Blank keeps in touch with his former franchise player via the mail. Vick's projected date of release is July 20, 2009.
  11. I think Urlacher will be a safety for the Bears some day, suits our needs and his strengths if his health and back hold up.

Wonderlic tests are given to help gauge the intelligence of prospects. NFL teams expect most prospects will score well because players can prepare for the tests. When a player has an unusually low score, it sets off alarms. A person of average intelligence is supposed to score a 20. NFL teams like to see quarterbacks, offensive linemen, middle linebackers and safeties score higher than that because those positions can be mentally demanding. At the quarterback position, none of the top prospects laid a Wonderlic egg. Boston College'sMatt Ryan, he of the off-the-charts intangibles, scored an impressive 32. And his score was matched by Lousiville's Brian Brohm, who is the second-highest-rated quarterback after Ryan on most boards. Joe Flacco of Delaware scored a 27 and Chad Henne of Michigan scored a 22. Both are considered second-round prospects. Most of the top offensive linemen also tested well. Michigan'sJake Long scored a 26. Pittsburgh's Jeff Otah scored a 28. Southern California's Sam Baker scored a 27. Vanderbilt's Chris Williams scored a 32. Boston College's Godser Cherilus scored a 25. Virginia's Brandon Albert scored a 23. Boise State offensive tackleRyan Clady had the only disappointing score from the top group of blockers, a 13. At the linebacker position there are two players who look like surefire first-rounders, but one tested better than the other. Tennessee'sJerod Mayo scored a 26 while USC's Keith Rivers scored a 16. Rivers' test probably won't hurt his stock because most teams consider him an outside linebacker. Kenny Phillips of Miami, the only safety expected to go in the first round, did not help himself with a 16 test score.
  13. ESPN's John Clayton reports the contract DeAngelo Hall is expected to sign after he's acquired by Oakland will be for six years and over $50 million. Nnamdi Asomugha is going to want (and deserve) at least that. Asante Samuel's with the Eagles was for six years and $57.14 million. Clayton says Raiders owner Al Davis is pulling out all the stops to make this deal a reality.
  14. I decided to go with answer B which seems like a good choice if I was drafting a QB. Grossman's not very accurate so I can live with this guys average accuracy and not throwing the pick at the wrong time. B works for me.
  15. Marty Booker is currently considered the Bears' only "sure starter" at wide receiver heading to the draft. Mark Bradley and Devin Hester are the top candidates to play opposite him. With the way the Bears coaching staff has spoken of Hester, he likely has the early edge. Mike Hass, Brandon Lloyd, Rashied Davis, and Brandon Rideau fill out the roster. Booker may be the weakest No. 1 receiver in the league.
  16. 49ers agreed to terms with WR Bryant Johnson on a one-year contract. Johnson, 27, caught at least 40 passes in each of the last four years as Arizona's third receiver. He has the speed Mike Martz likes outside, but isn't known as a precise route runner, a requirement in Martz's offense. We've yet to see the financial terms, but his addition makes it less likely that Ashley Lelie will be on the team. Johnson could push Darrell Jackson to start
  17. NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports a deal between the Texans and free agent Chris Brown is expected to be completed by Thursday. It sounds like Houston may be offering Brown a multi-year deal, but we won't know for sure until the contract is finalized.
  18. NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports a deal between the Texans and free agent Chris Brown is expected to be completed by Thursday. It sounds like Houston may be offering Brown a multi-year deal, but we won't know for sure until the contract is finalized.
  19. Mike Brown is a nice player, not sure how long you have been watching football but he's no where close to the best player ever, wouldn't even make the Bears top 10 all time. He had a great nose for the ball, Terrell Davis was once of the best RB's in his time but doesn't belong in the hall of fame due to longevity reasons. Best Bear on D has to be Butkus hands down, LT was the best Linebacker, many greats from the Steel Curtain. Urlacher before this year.
  20. The Larry Fitzgerald-to-the- Eagles trade scenario takes on new intrigue daily, with a report surfacing Friday that the Eagles have submitted a trade offer to Arizona to obtain the Pro Bowl wide receiver. The Cardinals and Fitzgerald have hit an impasse in contract renegotiations, according to The Arizona Republic, which also reported that the Eagles have offered cornerback Lito Sheppard and wide receiver Reggie Brown as trade bait with hopes of forcing the Cardinals to deal away the wideout if they can't reach an agreement to restructure his contract. A league source confirmed to The News Journal that the Eagles have proposed a trade to Arizona, but the source couldn't elaborate on the details of the proposal. The Cardinals still hold out hope of reaching a new deal with Fitzgerald or having him play out the rest of his contract, according to The Arizona Republic report. Fitzgerald, 24, is scheduled to make $14.6 million in 2008 and $17.4 million in 2009, the final year of his contract. Cardinals general manager Rod Graves has adamantly stated that Fitzgerald will remain with the Cardinals. Contact Geoff Mosher at gemosher@delawareonline.com.
  21. I sure hope this guy does better than the last joke we picked up from the Deadskins, Adam Archuleta!!
  22. Bears signed Brandon Lloyd to a one-year contract. Once a promising receiver in San Francisco, Lloyd was a huge bust after the Redskins made him rich. Perhaps he'll be hungrier now and Chicago risks little by giving him a "prove-it" contract to play under college coach Ron Turner. Lloyd could wind up starting or released by Week 1, although the latter is more likely.
  23. I wouldn't as we have more pressing issues, like how to protect the QB. Our O line is beginning to resemble that of the Raiders and Rams.
  24. An AFC Scout told the Philadelphia Daily News that he believes Joe Flacco's stock has risen into the first round this offseason. "He threw the ball great," said the scout of Flacco's Pro Day workout. "He's done everything right in the offseason. Everything. Right now, there's a lot of teams that have him rated ahead of (Boston College QB Matt) Ryan." Source: Philadelphia Daily News Related: Ravens, Bears, Dolphins
  25. McCareins attended high school in Chicago's suburbs and went to college at Northern Illinois. Chicago has little depth at receiver, and McCareins could ostensibly compete for a starting job. Still, he's shown he's basically a No. 3 receiver, and the Bears need a bona-fide starter. Tennessee and Washington have also shown interest. Source: Chicago Sun-Times The Bears have informed DT Antonio Garay that he is not in their plans. Garay is rehabilitating his right leg after breaking it on an illegal block by the Redskins' Chris Samuels, which Chicago will continue to pay for. Garay could have a tough time finding a reserve job coming off the injury. The Bears were one of seven teams to skip Andre Woodson's pro day workout. This could be the ultimate indicator of how far Woodson's stock has dropped this offseason, as the Bears are hardly in a position to stop scouting quarterbacks that could go on the first day of the draft. Still, they could just be disguising interest. They did make it out to Joe Flacco's pro day, however. Restricted free agent Rashied Davis is generating "substantial interest" around the league. It's partly because the Bears only offered him the low tender, which means opposing teams wouldn't have to give them additional compensation if they signed Davis. Davis' greatest value is on special teams, and the Bears will likely match any reasonable offer considering their lack of depth at the position.
