What we know: This is not a very good team, other than me, I dont think anyone had this team winning more than they lose. Losing brings negativity but as an overall picture , we have seen some progress. The coaches just aren't good enough to make a young team better, color them gone but it wont be during the season. We need more blue chip players or have some young guys progress quicker. IMO core pieces projecting at the end of the year. ( DJ Moore, Mooney, T Scott, Kmet, R Johnson, Khaill Herbert, D Kramer, Jenkins, B Jones, Nate Davis, D. Wright, J Carter, Carlos Santos, T. Gill, D Walker, Pickens, Dexter, Billings, T Edmunds, Edwards, Sanborn, Sewell, Gordon, Stevenson, T Smith, J Johnson, Jaylon Jones, Brisker, Bagent. These are players that I think will be here when we start winning ( next year) but a few need to be resigned . Billings, JJ, Mooney, This year was the year we see if Fields is our future. So far its not looking good for his future but he has time to change that narrative. If he doesnt we have the draft picks to get a new one. Bagent will just be a long time backup. The main thing we need to remember is this was a complete rebuild and we are only at 1 and half years in. I think the third year is the year we see what this rebuild has to offer. I think we win a few more games and have ups and downs. Next year we will have a new coaching staff and Poles will add a new center, a couple of pass rushers, 3 T, another WR ,another TE, a couple of Ss, OL depth AND probably a new QB. I think then is when we become a winning team. If we have a history of Poles, he will sign one big contract (edge) and maybe a OC, DL, otherwise I think he drafts his team.

I think any trades this year is based on ( can it make us get to the playoffs?) That's not happening this year. So for a GM that is rebuilding with the draft probably isnt going to trade draft capital. Some of these trade options will be available in FA. Why give up draft capital and have to try pay them ? Just give them a contract in FAgency and draft someone to.
-
I think we all agree Flus will be gone afterthis year, just dont think its happening until the end of the year. I agree with Jones be gone . Try someone else. I dont think Trent Taylor brings anything to the table either.
-
If no one trades for him, he's a UFA tis year. We are not playing for a playoff spot, so why do it now?
-
The biggest problem with that rumor, besides draft capital, he wants to get paid.
-
Agree, best just to say they are getting better and hope for some luck along the way. If we win 2 of the next 3 , that's a good start to us being a better team.
-
I have been subbing to them for a couple of years. Jahns and Fishbain are good content. I tink on a black Friday they offered a year subscription for half price, so I jumped on it. They really have good draft content , you can get Bugler draft guide free with your subscription.

Mack has 7 sacks but 6 were in one game. 1 in 5 games isnt star like. They have given up tons of points and have a losing record. Something doesnt add up.
-
I'll have to see where it came from, maybe pro football reference.
-
Their going to score points, we just have to keep up? Play action and pounding the ball will do us well. If we don't turn the ball over, we have a chance to win this game.
-
I agree , we have had a lot of losing but we are trending the other way now. How will all of this be perceived if we win 8-9 games and get good QB play out of our QBs. People always want change but there is something said for establishing stability for a franchise. Always changing everything every 3-4 years is not good.
-
Poles isnt going to overpay anyone. I think he has already showed he fixes values and doesnt go over that. Mooney is capable of much better play and probably be gotten on a deal because of a lack of production this year. JJ doesnt deserve top money but just below that. 3 ints in 4 yrs aint getting you top 10 money. OTC player value for Billings is 5.6 mil so that wouldnt be a big contract.
-
Everybody does realize that if we win more games than we lose, Flus probably saves his job and that means our QB play is above average and we dont make any changes. As much as losing has created a narrative, so will winning. How many wins will save Flus job? 5 and 5 the rest of the year?
-
I get we still are losers and then people want to trade young players that could be part of the core. Poles will have to start winning next year so sign Billings, JJ, and Mooney and build the core up. Getting late round picks for core players is stupid, its time to start rolling forward and forget the losing streak. Once our OL is back from injuries, it will be one of strength instead of a problem. I suspect Whitehair sits and Jenkins and Davis will be the starters. They are more physical beasts. Having Carter and Whitehir as backups is what good depth looks like. We are a swing OT away from a top 10 OL. Pound the ball, win the takeover game and we are going to win more games than we lose.

It would be great if he turned into our franchise QB going forward from a cap space point of view, he is our cheapest option. If he plays well for a few more games and Fields comes back and plays well the rest of the year, that would be great for the team. I want everyone to be successful. That also means we probably win several more games that would lower our pick in the draft. The whole point in rebuilding the roster and at some point they have to look to wins as a measuring stick. Our defense is getting healthy and better. We are starting to create an identity on offense , running the ball. I see young players getting better. I see the 2nd and 7th leading tacklers in the league starting to make an impact on defense. Since Flus took over the defense it has gotten better even with many injuries on the back end. We are 4th in the league in rushing and that is w/o Fields big input. We are 8th in the league in run defense which is great considering last at it last year. We have won 2 out of 3 games and with a few plays different, we could be talking about winning 4 in a row. We have an easy schedule overall, laden with winnable games. We have did this with our top 2 running backs out and a make shift defensive backfield. We are not ready for prime time but we are trending in the right direction.

The rest of the year has to play out and the picture will be clearer. I was thinking of someone like a JJ McCarthy in the 3 rd but not sure how the draft positioning plays out. We don't know what Poles will like in a QB. He may fall in love with Williams and options will be gone. The key is it has to play out. I'm just not sure it's as simple as Fields or Williams.
-
The point I was trying to make is high picked QBs rarely work out but until the season is over and I watch tape and read opinions on the top 2 QBs, Im going to wait on all the excitement of Luck and Lawrence lookalikes. Still have more tape to make for them to prove that.

Poles has several ways to go and I think they all could end up having been good choices. Keep Fields and Bagent, one of them ends up good. Draft blue chip players You trade Fields at the draft, get a #1, draft a QB and draft some blue chip players. Trade Fields at the draft, draft a prospect not in the first round. Go with Bagent and a prospect. Use your 3 first round picks on blue chip players. If the QB situation doesnt pan out , grab one in 2025. Figuring Poles makes some trades and has a couple firsts in 2025.
-
Think of the Bears talk if we trade him (no way your getting a #1 right now) and he ends up balling out. Then we draft a generational QB that turns into Zach Wilson or Trey Lance. Then Bagent has a Mac Jones type of career. Everyone gets fired.
-
I think Bagent gets 2 more games and then you get evaluate Fields 8 more games. Fields has higher upside if he succeeds plus Bagent isnt going anywhere. You have to see if Fields can get better.
-
Depends if someone makes an offer you cant refuse. BUT he's injured right now. Getting a 3rd or lower for him wont be worth it.
-
I think more realistically would be to trade Justin during the draft, more likely to have more value.
-
Like or dislike Fields , there is merit on both sides of that argument but one game on Bagent just isn't enough of tape to judge. The best case scenario is Bagent looks good in a win and then Justin balls out the rest of the season. Then trade Justin for a 1 st rounder and load the team with blue chip players and roll with Bagent next year and draft a QB prospect in mid rounds. You will still have a few first round picks in 2025 if Bagent doesn't work out.
-
I think if he wasn't hurt and was able to the play the 2 games well, A high pick was up for discussion but then we might be thinking about keeping him. It would have to be a team that could make the playoffs in need of a QB. Jets? SF? Prudy hasn't been looking good lately and they have a coach that could do a offense to suit Fields. Washington, with reasons you stated, and NE. Belichick has the ego to think he could turn Fields around and the need. The only way you get a #1 is if two teams run up the cost. The big stumbling block is he has to get paid in 2025 and the need to win now. If you're going to get a Chase Young back , I doubt they offer a # 1 back also. Would the new owner want make a splash? Maybe
