I get he has deficiencies but that doesn't mean he can't correct them. In the one game he threw 16 passes in a row, that can't be dismissed as luck. It would be different if he has never shown his upside but we have seen good games out of him. If you're doing the eye test on Josh Allen lately, you would question how good he is but we know what he is capable of. I'm hoping he does well and no question who our QB will be going forward but he needs consistency. He has 7 games to show it . It's easy to say a new QB will be better but thats so hard to find these days. Trevor Lawrence was the last great thing and he hasn't passed the eye test yet.

That's cool, I broke my neck August 23rd. C1 and C2, has limited me but not as bad as your situation. I get my collar off December 20 so it won't interrupt my winter travel. My biggest problem is my lack of activity while waiting to heal. I get the pain but will tell you it gets better. Attitude matters. Be positive.

It really is misleading to throw stats from the last 2 yrs and definitely from his first year that was a waste. Agree with your perspective. The defense is getting better and the OL is almost completely healthy. We are about to see a more competitive team going forward.

If we keep Getsy Maye fits the scheme better than Williams. Otherwise let the new OC figure in the pick. If we use the same logic as , Mitch went to NC, then that would mean Stroud should not be good because he went to OSU.

Probably because some experts say he is the best pure pocket QB in the draft. North Carolina career 580/878//7555 69.3 60 TDs-13 Ints 157.9 QB rating in 28 games

To be honest, IDC who the QB is as long as Poles makes the right choice. If its Fields better for drafting blue chip players instead of drafting a QB high, If he balls out ,Fields would bring better draft capital in a trade if Poles wants to draft one. We should all want him to be good , writing him off with 7 games left is premature. Poles may pull a rabbit out of his hat and draft Jayden Daniels/LSU. When Lamar Jackson gets picked at 32, J Hurts at 53, its not a perfect science. Penix, Nik, McCarthy, no one knows for sure but I do know if the defense is good, and we have MHJ, DJ and Kmet, an OL , its more likely a QB will shine. If the defense keeps getting better , i wouldnt care if Flus stays as long as a OC can put together a good offense, hell it still could be Getsy but I doubt it.

I'm not disagreeing with you , you have a better shot in the top 10 at being good but also lots of failure when you pick there and they are bad. Those moves get you fired. Just for reference, the top QBs get paid the big money. Out of the top 5 , here is a pick 32-53-75. There is arguments for any kind of point someone is making. Then you have people like Prudy, Howell, and Dobbs playing well that isn't even in the conversation. It could end up being Bagent in 2024 bring the surprise. There is no easy answer. I will just trust Poles to make the right decision while we throw our opinions out there.

Can't argue with anything you said. Talent, a good coach and then a good QB. The hard part is finding them ,its hard to do in the NFL.

You're right, I was thinking about his fifth year option that would have to be picked up in 2024 that would be his 2025 salary. good catch

If you want to go by stats: Howell( #144), Stroud (#2) Tagovailoa (# 5) Josh Allen (#7) and Jarod Goff (#1) If you want to go by top paid: Burrow (#1) Herbert (#6) Jackson (#32) Hurts (#53) Wilson (#75) If you want to go by perception: Mahomes (#10) Burrow( #1) Allen (#7) Hurts ( # 53) Jackson (#32) Up for debate Not sure what your point is, Burrow is the only top QB that was drafted first overall.

Swifty is an overzealous Bears writer that gets clicks. I like that he is always positive but over does it sometimes. We need another edge, center, 3 T, FS and probably a QB. I dont think we draft a LT high because Braxton keeps getting better. My nightmare is we trade Fields to Atlanta, we draft a QB that takes 2 years to develop and Justin leads Atlanta to a SB appearance. Then we have to compete against him for the next 8 years trying to get a SB appearance. MHJ would be a nice consolation prize if we don't draft a QB high.

QB talk gets mentioned in almost every thread, since it wont be going away until after the draft, might as well keep it in one spot. My take: I want Fields to succeed, i want Bagent to be good, for me its what is our best course going forward. Option 1) Fields balls out and we use our 2 top picks to acquire a boat load of top 100 talent. I would prefer to get MHJ somewhere in the mix. Justin has 7 games to prove himself or I will be out with him. Even if he plays well Poles may decide there is a better QB to draft, the big money he will have to pay in 2025 may already have sealed his fate. Option 2) Draft the next great QB , the problem is which one is it? In the last 6 years only one #1 pick turned out great Joe Burrow and because of a lousy OL, he has gotten beat up. Lawrence and Murray are still being judged but saying great isn't even a choice. Mayfield has been serviceable and Young has a long way to go. in the last 6 years Burrow, J Allen a #6, L Jackson at #32, J Hurts at #53, Herbert at #6, T Tagovailoa at #5. Only one was the #1 pick. Its about picking the right QB and having a team developed and the right coaching. Harbaugh designed an offensive to fit Jackson,(it worked out) but the best example is Hurts. He was given an OL, some weapons and a great defense. He didnt start playing well until his second year but took off in year 3 when they traded for AJ Brown. I would say they have had good coaching since he came there. Poles needs to figure out if there is any great QBs in this draft. ( I think that's still to be determined) Option 3) Let Fields play out 2024 at 25 mil and draft a prospect . If Fields finally gets it , you can always trade a QB prospect for something. If he doesn't you have whoever you draft ready to take over with a year to learn being in the NFL. If Poles gets some first round picks in trades you can still draft one with 2 more 1st round picks again in 2025. Option 4) Bagent sits and learns for another year and becomes a starter in 2025 after Fields fails. ( long shot) Poles has to win in 2024 to keep his job. Does a rookie QB help do that ( CJ Stroud) or do you get a( Bryce Young) ? Ideally Fields balls out we go 5-2 and there will be no discussion on drafting a QB. We draft MHJ and a Dallas Turner or JerZhan Newton and we make a run at the playoffs. (doubtful) j

None of this conversation matters if we dont get either of the top 2 picks . With 2 picks in the draft we can trade the first for a ransom and could still get a top pick. I think we get a top 3 pick and also a top 10 pick. I never said wait until the later rounds to draft a QB . There are more misses than hits at the top of the draft and Im not sure there is any generational QBs in this draft just because some football people claim that. I would actually prefer Maye to Williams . Trevor Lawrence was suppose to be great and he still doesnt look like a great QB. I would be more comfortable with MHJ and JJ McCarthy than Williams at #1. I will trust Poles to do the right thing, Im just a fan, he loses his job ifs he's wrong.

You're probably right. 2018 1st round QBs: #1 Baker Mayfield #3 Sam Darnold #7 Josh Allen #10 Josh Rosen #32 Lamar Jackson 2019 QBs #1 Kyler Murray #6 Daniel Jones #15 Dewayne Haskins 2020 QBs #1 Joe Burrow #5 Toa Tagovailoa #6 Justin Herbert #26 Jordin Love Note; Jalen Hurts # 53 2021 QBs #1 Trevor Lawrence #2 Zach Wilson #3 Trey Lance #11 Justin Fields #15 Mac Jones 2022 QBs #20 Kenny Pickett Note; Sam Howell #144--- Brock Purdy #262 2023 QBs #1 Bryce Young #2 CJ Stroud #4 Anthony Richardson Note: Will Levis #33 ---- Out of the first QBs taken only Joe Burrow is the real deal. Murray and Lawrence still have questions. Jackson #32 , Hurst #54, Josh Allen #7, Tagovailoa #5, and Justin Herbert #6 are the real deal. It doesnt have to be the first pick, more have failed than succeeded.

I guess the best way to put that is draft a QB ( not with their first pick) and give Fields this yr and next to ball out. If he fails the new QB is in the house.
-
The future contract is the kicker. He has to ball out in the last 7 games to overcome that but i think that is in play.

When talking about a QB or even a coaching staff , rarely mentioned is stability of a franchise that would bring long term success. Constantly changing everything every 2-3 years rarely has ever worked. When people talk about Fields , they say this is his 3rd year but his first year probably did more harm than good. I look at him as in his second year. What is different in this regime is Poles had to completely changed the roster instead of rolling into a new era with a few fixes. last year Fields had to try to get better with very few weapons and a lousy OL. He was battered and still found some success. Poles has systematically improved the OL and added a key to any franchise, a great WR. The coaching staff has struggled to try to get the best out of him by forcing a system on him instead of playing to his strengths. I think the players still play for Flus instead of quitting during this terrible losing streak which is a plus. Flus has bungled his way thru the year but has been making the defense better since he took over. The inconsistent offense is more the blame of Getsy. they both are new to their jobs and have had some good moments to go with the bad. The next 7 games will say a lot on whether Fields should be our QB going forward and if the coaches actually get better too. What to like about Fields: probably the best running QB in the league, is accurate with deep throws when he has time to throw, he has a strong arm, a hard worker, a leader the team respects and has held up fairly well considering the beating he has taken. The next 7 games will tell the story on who stays and who goes.

They all so have a mange the cap section. I think to do a complete GM do over you have to subscribe to it of which i may do for the fun of being dumb.
-
Thiss is the kind of draft I wpild like to see us get. I prefer McCarthy to Penix
-
I attempted to do this but it doesnt show our cap space projected, i dont get it. Adam?
