  1. For sake of argument, there is only 3 WRs that will end up with similar numbers. Averaging out London and he ends up with 61-690-5. That was one I didnt adjust to .Also keep in mind their is 17 games this yr and Claypool only played when there was 16 games. If you take his average that would end up 66-926=10 for the 17 games. Only 3 are similar. If you go by where Pitt gets our 2nd round pick, none of the second round even come close to his numbers. Also other reasons for him to be here now. He is still only 24 yrs old, he can get valuable playing time with Fields going into next yr. Next yr will be the true tale of this trade. Also team production has increased since he has been here. Other teams consider him a threat, Mooney and Kmet have upped their numbers since he started playing. For your argument to be formable this yrs WRs would have to produce with the best of this last yrs draft. Last yr 7 WRs had above a 8.0 rating ( bleacher report) in the draft. This yr there is only 3 . The top 3 of 2022 were London/8.8-Olave/8.7-Wilson/8.6. The top rated WR this yr is Quentin Johnson/ 8.3. Point is this class is not rated as high for WRs. The only thing that matters is Claypool productive next yr so if he does anything better than his rookie stats, it will have been successful. I'll go out on the limb and say if we kept our second round pick, Poles probably wouldnt have drafted a WR their anyways. Quentin Johnston is the only high rated WR in this draft and he will be gone in the top 15. You got me on cost and more yrs for cheap service. So if we keep our 2nd round pick (34-38) that is what we should compare to. This yr (bleacher Report ratings) 4 are expected to go in the first round. Of the rest left over, none is rated higher than a 7.7. So if we picked one with that pick , it may take a couple yrs for him to reach his peak. With Claypool, he can already bonded to Fields and I guarantee his numbers would be better than 2 nd round WR we would take with the pick we gave up. Plus, we would have to assume that is what Poles would pick with that pick.( unknown)
  2. Granted it doesnt look good now because #1 we are continuing to lose games (better pick) and our passing game is not completely built yet. I think we have to wait on judgement until next yr to view the Claypool trade. If he has 72-932-6 next yr will that make it worth it? His rookie yr he was 62-873-9 . He is very capable of slight improvement and become valuable to this team. I think you could say that Claypool would be one of the best FAs is available this yr, that was something Poles had to consider. In the draft the only WR that has #1 type of traits is Quentin Johnson. There are several with potential but not a sure thing. Johnson is a consistent top 15 but rarely rated top 10. Last yr 6 WRs were taken in the first round. Only two WR will achieve as good as stats as Claypool did his rookie yr. Olave and Garret Wilson. I can understand why he did, it also helps Fields and Claypool to form a bond going into next yr and improves our overall passing game. Kmet and Mooney starting being more consistent since Claypool came here. Opposing Ds consider him a threat.
  3. The key game left is Denver at the Rams. They are in LA, dont have anything to play for but players playing for jobs may be inspiration enough. Denver has a decent defense but chances are they lose to Rams. That leaves us tied with Denver for wins. We could win 2 games in the next 4 which would not be good. I hope Minny is in the position to have to win that will help our last game. We are in Detroit so that helps the Lions but that is a winnable game. Our D sucks so hopefully they lack improvement going forward. How would you guys feel if we won the last 4 games? Brisker and Gordon will be back, Fields is capable of blowing up any game and Herbert might be back. If we won the last 4 games that would mean the OL has improved considerably , the D found a somewhat pass rush and Sanborn keeps killing it. That would be so Bear like.
  4. It would be very (Bear like) for them to go out and beat Philly. Beat the best team in the league and lose the 2nd pick slot.
  5. Hard to say how they evaluate Whitehair, but Jenkins is 3 yrs younger and has position flexibility.
  6. OTC has a valuation system that says 8 mil, but they are usually off by a couple mil. So 10-12 ?
  7. Now to the OL: signed for next yr are Whitehair, Patrick, Jenkins, Leatherwood, Borom, B. Jones, J Carter. D Kramer. The vets, Whitehair and Patrick could both be gone and replaced with other vets. I dont see all young guys on the OL next yr. Whitehair is playing okay but not great. With his injuries this yr, he could be moved and replace with a better vet. ( Elgton Jenkins) would work just fine . Patrick can be moved with only 1.5 mil in dead money and considering he hasnt played well and the injuries, Poles may replace him with a vet and then Let Kramer back him up. Mustifer is starting to play better but could be brought back as a back up because he wouldnt cost very much. A big question mark to me. I think B. Jones has been improving and will be kept at LT. If we bring someone in like Elgton Jenkins, he can play any position on the line and could take over at LT if Jones doesnt keep progressing. Whitehair is older and expensive, but could be replaced by another vet because I dont think J Carter will be ready yet to be a starter next. I think Poles is trying to develop Carter to take over the LG spot but wont be ready yet. Patrick isnt real expensive but this yr did not do mush for his future. I think they cut him and get another vet for that spot. Kramer is signed so we will see how he develops. Tevan Jenkins is the best OL IMO. I think he only gets better. I think Leatherwood will get first shot at RT. Not sure if it works but we just dont have that answer yet. I think Borom may be kept as a backup but since they know what they have in him, they may want a rookie with more upside. Elgton Jenkins would be the perfect FA to get . He is above average, and can play any position on the line. GB will have cap problems (3.3 mil next yr) as long as Rodgers is still there and hopefully they dont tag him. If they let Whitehair and Patrick go, then bring him and a Pocic, or Boseman in to play OC. Along with the young guys this could become a strong OL. B Jones-E Jenkins-Pocic-T Jenkins-Leatherwood. as the starting line. Then draft another OT and IOL and let the line compete. Another player that he brought in that may make it on the roster is Kellen Diesch. He was projected to be a 4th or 5th round draft pick but went undrafted. He is very athletic but needs more strength, he fits the zone blocking we run right now, so I see Poles brings him back to see if he makes progress. He has short arms but is very fluid in movement. I think Poles takes a best player available approach in the draft. There is only 2 lineman that will go early in the draft, he may choose to do that, but I think he wants to build what he already started on the line. Paris Johnson and Peter Skoronski are top 15 players. I have seen then between 5-10 in many rankings but never top 5 and that is where I think we will be picking from.
  8. Everyone talks about getting rid of the expensive older players but dont think Poles will do that . EJac is playing well and is a leader on the team. Next yr it will be 9.5 dead money if we trade him but if we wait until post June 1 to cut him, its 4 mil dead money. I think he is here thru 2023 until some other leaders take over as long as he is productive. This yr he was the leading vote getter at FS for the pro bowl. Tough injury for him. Another player at the end of his run will be Whitehair. He creates a big hit if cut or traded. I think he will stay for another yr as the other younger players develop. No way he has the OL without some vet leadership. Now if he signs someone like Elgton Jenkins and replaces Whitehair that may be possible but not sure there is trade value on a 31 yr old LG. It would cost some dead cap but Jenkins is going to be 28, 3 yrs younger and a better player.
  9. I think the mentality of this team is to find people that have good work ethic and have a more team oriented trait. That is why Jenkins struggled early , it had to do with his work ethic. Tomlin is one of the best coaches in the league, I cant imagine him putting up with that very long. He did accept Antonio Brown for a long time but he was highly productive. I think after 2 full yrs you will get a good read on players and why we have the choices Poles made. I think one of the reasons Tomlin let Claypool leave had to do with attitude. After a very good rookie season, he may have been a me me player. After being let go by a team, I imagine it causes players to suck it up with the big egos. I heard Claypool expected a big contract with only average production.
  10. I think Leatherwood gets the first shot at RT next yr no matter how he finishes this yr. I think they also bring in a draftee to compete against him. I think Jones stays at LT, Whitehair? there will be a new OC, Jenkins is set. There may only be one new addition to the OL next yr. So is that a good thing, or bad decision?
  11. The difference is ESB is a vet and V Jones has time to grow. Not all rookies go off in their first year.
  12. He was a ***** star player in college and maybe with him being cut, it will make him more dedicated and aggressive to be better. Live up to his potential. His draft profiles showed him as ending up as a above average player. No pro bowl type compliments but if he ends up being a 8 yr starter, good get for Poles.

    Rookie DBs

Cant remember the DB that had one great game when he came in last yr, and he disappeared under the new regime. Blackwell is who impressed me the most. He was poached from Philly's practice squad. Jaylon Jones definitely gotten better thru the yr. Poles has brought in a lot of new players and some are starting to show some promise. I , too, thought the backend of the D would be a disaster this game and was pleasantly surprised. In Poles first draft, he has Gordon, Brisker, Braxton Jones, Sanborn, and Gill starting and preforming better than expected. If he gets 5 starters out of the next draft with at least 3 FA starters. We have the start of a good core. I still have hope for V Jones and Ebner. Not all rookies shine in their first yr.
  14. Several of the FAgents he signed this yr that are signed next yr have cheap buyouts. I think anyone he is unsure about, they will arrange the contracts to have an easy out . My wishes are Payne/DT--Pocic/OC and Yannick Ngakoue /DE for the big contracts. Payne is a stud, 8.5 sacks this yr Pocic he has had no penalties and only given up one sack this yr. overall 83 Rating on PFF. Ngakoue has had at least 8 sacks in every yr but the two he had injuries. For having 8 seasons, he will still only be 28 next yr. Also over 30 pressures so far this yr.
  15. I think with the investment Poles made into Leatherwood, he plans on him being the RT next yr. I think he knows Borom is not the answer. Borom has played both L and R Tackle, so he may end up being the swing Tackle or will get rid of. He is under a rebuild and no one thought he could do this in one yr. anyways. I also think as Harry and Pringle work they way into the lineup, he may be bringing them back next yr to. The whole problem with the passing game is the lack of passing that has affected all of his targets. I think after the bye they open up more the passing game and we will see the progress of all of the WRs. ESB and Pettis have some moments but are back of the room WRs. I think Claypool , Pringle, and Harry will be more showcased to be able to see what value they have. They all may be back next yr. They will be on cheap contracts and will try to build the room off of Mooney and Kmet, and probably add 1 or 2 WRs and choose the best 6. They still have to see what they have in V Jones, so I dont think he will be going anywhere for next yr. V Jones, Mooney and Claypool are the only WRs signed for next yr.
  16. Having not seen that before, its a good article. With 2 DE contracts pending, and Mathis waiting in the wings, I dont see it happening on resigning Payne.
  17. Our DT position is bad . We have only Blackson and Justin Jones signed for next year. Blackson can be gone for 500 thousand. I would say bye bye. Resign Armon Watts and get all new DTs. My wish is bring in DeRon Payne , Washington is already paying Jonathan Allen 72 mil, there's no way there going to tie that much money in the DT position. Give him 20 A year. Then draft Carter or Bresee and Garvin Dexter.
  18. Agree with everything you said. Other than the int (they count ) he had his best game. 20-25 , running the ball well. I think he is improving every game but he seems to be waiting to long to throw, trying to find a player get open more or looking for one player to throw to. One pass he forced into Claypool , Kmet was running wild open down the middle of the field. I think he just have to trust his WRs better. We were leading the game until 4:43 left in the 4th quarter. Moving down to a scoring position in the two interceptions. It was 19-17 with 2:23 left in the game. We had chances to win that game and then the football Gods stepped in and said they wanted us to have the 2nd pick in the draft. Santos was off all day. The FG was blocked so not sure that was his fault. I cant remember the DL touching Rodgers during the game. They had several pressures. I think Poles adds 4 new DL in the off season. The only ones worth keeping for rotation are Watts and Jones. 2 in free agency and two drafted. Not only are they not getting sacks but they dont keep the edge secure on run plays. To many guys leaving their zone. Quinn wasnt getting sacks but rarely was the edge left wide open when he was here. There is a ton of RBs loose in FA this year, so I think Monty will settle for coming back on a team friendly deal. He's not in Barkley or Josh Jacobs type of money but Kareem Hunt or Jamal Williams lane. Around 6-8 mil a year. Those players are all free agents. He gives a physicality to our running game that Herbert doesnt have. I do a mock draft everyday from PFN and we should be inline for several teams wanting to get a QB, Detroit and Seattle both have the need 2 picks in the first round. They keep winning so their picks are moving lower in draft position but both have the Rams and Broncos picks that will be aligned right behind us. The Panthers have picks 5-39-58-89. The Saints have 36-71-106. The Panthers have Brian Burns a 24 yr old DE that has 10 sacks this yr. So Burns, 5-39-89-107 and a second next yr? Unless the Saints are willing to give up Olave, they dont have enough fire powe. We have options but I dont want to drop to far back in the top 10. Sanborn is averaging 12 tackles a game which , if he started all year , would lead the league in tackles. The leading tacker is Rahaan Evans at 10 a game.
  19. As I was seeing what was available, I looked them up. The RB Achane had 4.27 speed and thought he would be a T Cohen type. 5.8 , 179. Without digging deeper, I was going with speed guys mainly, only watched tape on a few. The trades part of it would never happen. I tink I did 4.
  20. I did a draft on PFN and traded as best I could and ended up with this. 10. Bryan Bresee DT Clemson 20. Tyree Wilson EDGE Texas Tech 34. Rashee Rice WR SMU 42. Gervon Dexter DT Florida 53. Darnell Wright OT Tennessee 56. Andre Carter II EDGE Army 65. Jalin Hyatt WR Tennessee 73. Devon Achane RB Texas A&M 101. Isaiah Land LB Florida A&M 131. Luke Musgrave TE Oregon State 133. Nehemiah Pritchett CB Auburn 156. Olusegun Oluwatimi OC Michigan 2024 ATL 1st 2024 ATL 2nd
  21. I wanted us to win but was happy we lost.
  22. I watched highlight films for Carter and Anderson, and one where a dude viewing them. I think I agree with him on questions about Anderson transforming to the NFL. I would choose Carter. I will say that Anderson has much better stats than Parsons had in college but Parsons did have a lot more wow plays. Anderson 4.34 40 time, Parsons 4.39 40 time Parsons is 10 lbs heavier than Anderson. *2019 Penn State Big Ten SO LB 13 52 57 109 1
  23. We have a potential of getting a slew of picks if we end up at #2. Right now we have 4 picks in the top 101. If we get a trade we could get an extra 2 or 3 picks in the top 101 and a low one next yr. Either way we get several top end talent. I prefer to stay in the top 5 and get one of the D studs.
  24. Fields was a full practice today on the field , so I think he will be playing. If we win, I will be watching the game with some Packer fan friends, so a win would be more fun for me but a loss would be better for the future.
