With all the Bear content I look at I have never noticed Bears Digest until you posted if before, I like the article.

I get bored so I have been watching highlights from our offensive playmakers. Monty is a very good RB and worth being on our team. Giving him 8-9 mil a yr new contract next yr would be worth it being we have so much cap room. Herbert showed well in a small sample size, I would not doubt if Ebner or Evans steals some snaps from him. Mooney is a budding star, Pringle will be a reliable #2 , Jones is a boom or bust and I have seen him compared to Percy Harvin. Havin's first yr stats: 60 recs-790 yds-6 TDs, 15 rushes for 135 yds, He was Offensive rookie of the year that yr. I think he can hit those marks. I also think one of the other WRs will surprise David Moore-Tajae Sharpe-Dante Pettis. I think this is much more solid group than last year. We are FASTER and BIGGER. Mooney is 5-11, Pringle is 6-1, Jones 6-0, Moore is 6-0, Sharpe is 6-2, and Pettis is 6-1. Oh shit, I forgot St Brown 6-5.. Speed Jones-4.31, Mooney 4.38, Pringle 4.41, St Brown 4.48, Moore 4.38, Sharpe 4.55, and Pettis 4.32. Cole Kmet should have a breakout year. Griffin and O'Shau sould be solid backups. I see all of this as positive and expect 8-9 wins this yr.

I was going to say Morrow, nobody is talking about him and he will be the second on the team in tackles this year but Edwards will be the biggest surprise because no one is expecting anything from him. The 3 T is a prime position on this D and he has some talent for that spot. I can see them playing Jones at NT with Edwards along side. We have a 3 spot edge with Quinn, Gipson and QMo that will not disappoint. I look at all these adds by Poles as a positive. We can be 3-1 after our first 4 games and the doomsayers will be silenced.

At LT we have Borom ?, Davenport or Coleman, below average vets, and rookie Braxton Jones. I think Davenport was brought in to be the swing T, someone you could live with for a few games. Jones could potentially be a future starter but not ready yet. So its Bottom or add a Fisher or Brown that have not signed yet. RG Dozier, A vet backup, Thomas or Carter ( rookies) maybe will be ready. Mustifer, unlikely. Michael Schonfield , Daryl Williams, as Duvernay- Tardif . Someone will be available to start if they wait to see what they have. I think Daryl Williams would be best choice that can play at several positions and be best backup at 3 positions.

I think a lot of not signing other free agents is they think they have talent on the roster. If it doesn't prove out, I think they will still be able to bring players in. -
Fuller got paid 10.5 mil last year while playing .056% of the snaps. He hasn't signed yet because he still wants to get paid. No no no . spend10 mil on Duane Brown instead he played 97.9% of the snaps.
-
I think Pringle will succeed, if you look at his production with more targets , he is easily a 70 rec player. I dont think they will try to fill two spots on the Oline. If they intended to bring in another lineman, why would they have not already did it? With Brown and Fisher still out there, why has no one else signed them either. Mandatory mini camp starts June 14-16. If they do anything it will be before that camp. I think they think they are set at WR., the only two WRs available that had better yrs than Pringle still out there are Beasley and OBJ. Beasley is only a slot WR and they have Jones and Pringle to fill that role. OBJ wont be available to play until later in the season and he will go to a contender. If they bring in another one it will be an X WR, who fits that? Julio Jones?
-
He's going to spend money and he's not always going to shop at The Dollar Store, but he wont be the lead dog on huge contracts. I think an example of what he will do is like the Joe Noteboom signing. A young guy 27, with upside for 13.3 mil a yr. instead of a Cam Robinson at 17.5.
-
When you're trying to make a SB run, you take risks. Hicks is a monster but has not been on the field enough to make 10 mil worth it.

If you notice, rarely do great players make it to FAgency, there are tagged or get traded. One yr is a small sample size to make predictions, but not paying big contracts on medium to above average players is a good thing. Making BPA is the right way even thou it I wanted other people. So far so good. As far as the Oline, Sam had a PFF rating of 47.8, Patrick was 72, upgrade plus he can direct the line in playing in the same scheme. PLUS The highly regarded Jenkins, is put to RT , a position he has a better chance to succeed. This yr we complained when he didnt draft a 2nd round OL, Jenkins is that same person. Whitehair had an off year, the worst of his career. Chances of him being better is very good. That is 3 positions up graded. LT is a question and if he okay with Borom ? but if not Fisher and Brown are still available. RG is a question. I dont think he is on the roster yet but maybe it is as simple as bringing Duane Brown in and moving Borom to RG. The thing to remember is , he's not done yet. We can be skeptical but until we see the first game starters its all a reach. If you cant look at the changes as positive instead of tearing them apart, how good of a Bears fan are you ? Have fun or live in misery, I choose hope.

I think something we understate when talking about the Bears is the players Poles brought in are all high motor. Relentless and hustle all the time. Goldman, Jackson took plays off last year. It will change how we play.
-
Correct, this year will determine a lot at what direction we go. The difference with Poles he walks the talk , not just throwing words around. Pace made statements like, draft a QB every year and didn't do it. Poles does what he says he does. Pace made you scratch your head from the beginning. Don't remember the name but the guy that did contracts was great at it , Pace puts his guy in, Poles brings him back. He just seems more trustworthy than Pace was. You would never see him giving Glennon that contract, he might have brought him in but at 1/4 mil.
-
When you're signing one yr deals and not big contracts, it's a little easier to accept a few mistakes. The draft is the key but probably be 2 years before that ? Is answered.
-
Being he is committed to rebuilding threw the draft, maybe one trade, he values draft picks.

There are some other players that may end up being productive that we are leaving out of conversations. Blasingame,Evans, Blackson,Cruikshank,Dawkins, Mario Edwards, Caleb Johnson, Dieter Eiselen, and Tonga. These are all people that might make a decent contribution that will make and roster and play. -
Most big contracts to free agents for WRs aren't usually worth it. 2021 FA WRs making over10 mil a yr. Golladay 18 mil Cory Davis 12.5_mil Cutris Samuel 11.5 mil Nelson Agholor 11 mil Will Fuller 10 mil. None of them were worth the money. More money doesn't always mean big production.
-
When I say thrifty, I mean he ain't going after D K Metcalf and paying 28 mil a year. Spending 14.5 mil for Ogunjobi, A younger player in his prime with upside is the example. With a full draft he will build through the draft and target a few . People like Morrow, Pringle, could be signed to long term deals.
-
I think a lot of people he brought in will get second contracts. I also think we seen how he handles it with the Ogunjobi signing, it is a high money contract but will not be outrageous. Example paying 10 mil to MVS and Kirk getting 17 mil a yr. He will target some players to add but will not be the premium contracts. He's not going to start his career being thrifty and then pull a Ryan Pace and sign Quinn to a huge contract. Absolutely think he is doing it the right way, even thou Im impatient enough to not see it that way.

We get first hand to see what Monty can do in this offense, maybe not be a speedster but could still be productive. By using next gen stats, Herbert was 4th in the league at 20.88 mph Monty was 5th at 20.80 mph. Everything is not always based on 40 times. The fastest player in the league is Ross/ WR , how productive is he?
-
Realistically a 10-15 rated RB. He would be worth signing in a 7-8 mil range. Since our offense will resemble SF more than GB, I think, they have proven plug in and play multiRBs works. I think he is a team leader and to let him walk would be a negative. I can't think of any big contracts for RBs that has not been a failure. The price is the key. Am I messed up to think we can be a good team? I'm thinking 9 maybe 10 wins. I guess that is more average than good but with all the negative projections, A winning team at least. I see what Poles thinks he got Pringle-Jones-Patrick-Morrow- Brisker-Gordon as all good players instead of just backup types. I think the D will be top 10 and Fields taking a step forward which will make this at least a average offense. With good special teams, A winning team. Change my mind

I was getting bored, I actually watched a highlight film for David Montgomery today, A good football player.

I haven't heard him mentioned in any camp talk. I didn't expect much from Gipson at first, but he's turned into a player. Hopefully a few surprises happen. -
There has been so much negative press(mainly do to not grabbing a OL or WR with its first two picks) that the general theme is we have no talent, this is ridiculous. Our defense could be top 10 . Flus has showed those results were ever he has coached. Here he starts with one of the better pass rushes in the league. Our offense has questions but if Fields is the real deal , he has plenty of targets.
-
That's where Darius Leonard plays for the Colts, premium position in Flus defense.
