He got paid, took a Year off and had a child. I suspect that changed his life. Not everyone plays football for love of the game, some just do it for money. He got paid 30 mil with the Bears. He won't have to worry about anything if he invested it right.

Now ESPN is predicting that Fields will led the league in interceptions. WTF
-
I was looking at our stats from last year. As best I can tell we led the league in sacks, is that true? 58

Its mind boggling all the negativity around our team this year. I get it has a lot to prove, but national writers saying ( lucky to win a game) is ridiculous. Where do you think our WR group will end up being ranked ? I say in the top 20. Jones will have over 50 catches, Pringle 70, and Mooney 96. Kmet 65, Monty 43, Ebner 30, Hebert 25. The key is the not WR room its the steps taken by Fields. Last year we had 542 attempts and 332 rec so I am probably under projecting.

Jones , Pringle and Mooney are our speed guys. Sharpe at 6'2" has had more production than St Brown and Harry combined. Not as much upside but a reliable #4 at worst. Pettis is a wildcard, hopefully he shines. I think in this offense Kmet and our rbs have a big input as you suggest.

I think there are several on the verge of being relevant but they have to show up this year. Its possibility that our entire defensive backfield could be very good if Jackson gets back. Morrow could be good in this defense scheme.

Seen where one writer for PFF has an article on Bleacher report where they think we will have trouble winning one game this year. Keyshan Johnson said we have only two players that could start on other NFL teams. These guys have to be doing drugs. It is outrageous that they lack the research to say such stupid stuff. Players that could start on most teams: Whitehair Mooney Montgomery Quinn Smith Jaylon Johnson That's 6 and there are probably a few more . Justin Fields would start on at least 1/3 of the teams.

Jones at 200 lbs can handle the underneath stuff and mainly will be playing out of the slot.
-
Mooney , Jones, Pringle, and Sharpe make it. Pettis or Moore and St Brown or Harry round out our top 6. IMO.
-
I think Moore is going to be cut, so just another body in the room to take Moore's place.

I'm on Anthony Herron's Twitter and he announced many of Harry's games in college. He said he is very talented and in his first year got in the coaches doghouse and has wanted out of NE for two years. Maybe he clashed and a new start could get him a new attitude. May be a diamond in the rough. At worst he pushes ST Brown to perform better. Also last year, the top two blocking WRs in the league were Harry and Pringle. Sounds like run run run.

We get to find out in two weeks. Always full of hope at this time of year.

As we suggest these potential moves, what if we go 3-1 out of the blocks? I don't think anyone gets traded. I think we are better than the general consensus says we are. I predict 9 wins, which doesn't get us a playoff spot but definitely the arrow pointing up. I think the defense is better and our offense starts to show signs of life. Fields starts to be real good. The team gets a bad rap because they didn't draft who people thought they should and didn't get the free agents everyone wanted. I think they upgraded the roster with youth and speed, it will not be a negative.

It will be a camp injury by a contender that will force them to get some help. May spill over into the season. Best case scenario is he plays well. Robinson and Gipson look good and a trade pops up that hooks us a 3 rd pick. If we have a winning season may just end up staying for one more

I get the mobility thing these days. I plumbed for 50 yrs and beat my body up. At 69 it doesnt always work well. I have had both knees and hips replaced. 3 herniated discs, and the worst distraction is arthritis. But I work out weekly, do Yoga every day and it helps me be kinda normal. The odd thing is the more activity I have, the better it gets, overall but its hard to get to the point of feeling good. Take a lot of supplements but honestly, a positive attitude helps the most. My entertainment is usually sporting events and music concerts but as I get older, sometimes seems more of a chore than a joy, but it makes the positive attitude work so much better. I travel a lot but I suppose that will be hard at some point in time. Thankfully going to Thailand being 20 hours in the air, is still doable. Just have to always be looking forward. Try Yoga for help, it was a game changer for me. The cool thing is you can go at your own pace until you get to a point of being flexible. You are in my area, and there are classes available.

Last time I went to Platteville, a friend with me last name was McMahon. There was a bar where only the Bears players could go in after camp hours. Dont remember the name. He told the security that he was Jim McMahon's cousin and they let him in. He got to party with the players for a couple of hours.

I think it goes back to a reason this happened at this time. He just didn't pull this out of the air and Poles thought ( A good day to fire someone). We will never know but very curious why. Hopefully Soup says something about it.
-
I agree with your opinion but would say something directly happened that caused this . If he was just installing his guys, he would have purged the room a long time ago. If he was the go between in the locker room to the new regime, maybe something as simple as telling everyone that Quinn would be here and then he didnt show up. Sometimes its just a personality clash. He was on the board that directly hired Poles, but maybe he was the only one that didnt want him our of the group. Greg Gabriel said this kind of stuff happens and the reason never comes out.

They use data that you can use to analyze talent but they get it wrong so much , it has to be the lack of intangibles in their opinions.

PFF listed us as the 30th worst DB in the league. They list other teams higher that had high rated rookies coming in but didn't give us any credit. I can't wait , next year we'll be in the top 10 . They are trash.

Fangio is one of the better D minds in the league but has failed as a head coach. Probably not all his fault but the head coach takes the blame for losing. Nagy was an enigma when he first came in. He limited his offense in 2018 and got mild success. As soon as he went high gear on (his) system things fell apart. This regime will rely on the run (good thing) and build around Fields as the offense goes forward. We added height and speed on O and that will help Fields progress. With all the talk of good or bad, I think a lot of people are not taking into the account of Fields being a lot better this year. Because of our lack of offense in the past, we dont get excited with offensive projections but I think it will be a giant step forward.

He improved from his first yr to the second. He has went to TE U to learn. He goes and works with Justin in the offseason. He may be limited by his athleticism but he can be a top 12 TE. This year he may not get more catches but higher yds per catch and TDs. He has become a better blocker. I think with the speed we added it will open up the field for more of Kmet.

If you're going to look at different players now is the best time to do it. It will inform them where to start and mix up what works best. If things follow as patterned, Sam Mustifer may be the surprise offensive player by starting. If that happens, I think it will be at OC not at OG. He played well for 6 games in 2020. Was bad last year after gaining 30 lbs. Maybe losing 10 lbs will put him in a better spot to play better.
