Our example in the league for 2 quality DTs is Jonathan Allen and Deron Payne combined stats: 13 sacks--25 TFL--29 QB hits--36 pressures , I didnt look at every team but I think that is the best DT combo. DeForest Buckner 5.5 sacks--4 TFL-15 QB hits--19 pressures Deron Payne 6.5 sacks--11 TFL-- 15 QB hits--17 pressures Deron is 25, I think he would be better to sign him than DeForest Buckner 28

I think if they sign Buckner, I doubt they would use the first round pick on a DT. I would still do it if Carter is there. If Carter is gone, that means Will Anderson would be there.

Pass rushers: on the roster for next year. Al-Q Muhammad , a rotational piece that will be back unless we can upgrade. Dominique Robinson, a rookie with upside. Travis Gipson is signed for next year but I doubt they bring him back unless he starts adding some stats. In FAgency : There are quite a few names, not sure how many are impact players thou. (28 or younger) Yannick Ngakoue 6.5 sacks Lorenzo Carter 3.5 sacks Samson Ebukam 3.5 sacks DuWanye Smoot 5.0 Sacks Draft: Will Anderson/Ala Myles Murphy/ Cle Tyree Wilson/ Texas Tech Isiah Foskey/ND Andre Carter/Army Jared Verse/Flor St Zack Harrison/ Ohio St I think they both draft one high and add one in FA. The jury is still out on Taco Charleston and Gerri Green. Sammis Reyes is a project.

I would say Jack Sanborn changed their thoughts going forward. He turns out to be good.

Patrick has never proven his worth, it would be a 1.3 mil cap hit for him to walk away. Poles will do that if he finds a better option. Or keep him as a backup. If they draft an OC that may be the case. Ratkovich would be a nice addition, he would bring more than blocking.
-
He has a stage 1 separation and he could injury it more by playing that could put him in a position to need surgery. I think they dont let him play until after the break 14th week. Boomer Esiason had the same injury and said it was very painful as he played thru it. He said it took two weeks to heal. So rest him and get back with it in the last 4 games. As much as we have been condemning the D , it actually has played better the last two weeks. Jets O with White at QB should not be overwhelming for our D. Another low scoring close game. 17-13 Jets.

Actually his last two yrs (23-24) would be 40 mil left on the books. (according to OTC). Arguably he is in his prime yrs. If Poles thinks the next two yrs are our shot at the playoffs with Fields cheap contract, I can see him do that. I think a shot at a difference maker that would have an inexpensive contact for the next five yrs is more what he will be looking for. If he is going to spend 20 on a DT, he has options in FA. DeRon Payne (26) if not tagged you could get for that . A Will Anderson and Payne on the same line would be a huge upgrade. A lot of holes to fill, it will be interesting how he will play a low pick. He may like a player better later in the draft that may prompt him to trade back and get more capital.

If we trade back , I dont think we should drop out of the top 10. The only teams needing QBs behind us that has 2 first round picks is Seattle and Detroit. Does Seattle draft a QB ? I dont know . Would you take Indy's first pick (14 right now) and Deforest Buckner ? 28 with 55 mil left on contract over the next 3 yrs. I would say no.

I think it comes down to if he can play with the injury or not. If Fields thinks he can play, he's going to want to play. As they make it more clear on the injury, they will make a decision. Actually I would like to see Siemian play in a more passing focused game. We will be able to judge the talent in the OL and WR room . It may not be a good outcome, but maybe Claypool gets 5 or 6 catches. More throws to the RB, see a little more open game.
-
I agree with all those statements. He is considered an elite player by NFL community, but It doesn't show up every week. People are talking about the great Jets D, we don't seem to allow the great players to go off on us, mainly that's because of Justin. So who you picking between the two?
-
If we remain at 3 and the first 2 picks are QBs, who do you choose between Anderson or Carter? If Anderson turns out to be Parsons like or Carter turns out to be Johnathan Allen? Considering the 3T is so important in this D, Jalen Carter, Although Parsons is the most dynamic player in the league.

I think the problem with any WR, TE, RB in the passing game is we just dont throw enough. Fields looks for Mooney first, then look at his throwing sequence a couple for everybody. Our OL just isnt good enough to sustain a consistent passing game. We scored 24 points, 5 game average 26 points a game. I think that is pretty good. Other than 2 games we have been in every game. Between mistakes and bad ref calls, we could have a winning record right now. That puts us on the rise as a rebuilding team.
-
I think it will be treated like any other injuries. They seem to always be cautious. I think they have enough input to know what they need to do, build better around him.
-
The second one is about where we will be trading back to (6) as it stands now. At 6 we could still get one of the top 3 blue chip players. I suspect Anderson and Carter would be first taken after QBs so we would be stuck with Michael Murphy or if he moves up in the ranking, Tyree Wilson . I like him better as a prospect. That would be excellent if the draft haul was the same.

We can't worry about the traded pick. We need to get Claypool involved in the offense to make that trade worth while. The fact we are in games until the end and is decided by a penalty or a bad mistake, tells us we are doing something right. How many OLs do we need next year ? IMO, they stick with the development of Jones and Jenkins is set. If Whitehair doesn't play better , I can see them replacing him next year. So I think they bring in a OC and OT in FA. I think after the break they give Leatherwood playing time to see if he can play. I don't think Poles abandons all his moves this year and start over with new development players. Carter may get first chance to replace Whitehair but not sure he will go through another year to develop the OL. Tough decision.

We can't move out of a draft spot to get us a blue chip player. Right behind us is Seattle and Detroit. If we trade with them, what can we expect to get ? Behind them the teams don't need a QB. So that are our only options. Dropping out of top 10 to get extra picks is a bad idea. Both Seattle and Detroit have 2 first round picks. Is that expected in a trade to move a few spots? More like a 2 nd and a 4th and a 3rd next year? What say you?
-
I think Fields won't be playing against the Jets. He has some injury issues, why would they risk more injury? We will see how Siemien does win the same parts. I think we seen what Ebner can do ( nothing) , so give Evans some time. Herbert was definitely missed.
-
Picking at 3 for now. There isnt any WRs rated in the top 10 right now but maybe some rise by the draft. If we add an impact player like a Parsons,( Jaylen Carter-Anderson - Murphy). we have to take him.
-
Observations: Ebner cant create holes, I seen him 4 times run up the ass of a blocker. no vision Play calling was bad in the the second half knowing at halftime that Justin had a strain hamstring. Then hurt his shoulder and still calling him running. Gretsy not getting a HC next yr. OL was bad. Whitehair has not played well since he came back. Schofield had a terrible game. Jenkins needs to be back. Hard to get rhythm with the WRs when you only pass 21 times a game. We need to get at least 30 reps there. Kmet had a highlight reel catch today I would much rather be winning these games but the losing doesnt hurt as bad when I know we are going to get a top 5 pick.

You stated many good things but keep in mind his original plan. He did go after an oline. He made a higher financial offer to both Brian Allen and Joe Noteboom than the Rams. They choose to stay in LA that just won the SB. Also the Bates move but none of them worked out. Patrick was a second choice. Had he stabilized the OL early, the WRs he choose would have looked better. He stated building through the draft and not bring in expensive FR agents. He didn't have the money to make a splash in FA nor a first round pick. It limited what he did. The good teams take BPA and that's what he did. His draft won't define itself for 1 or 2 more years, but everyone of his draft picks are on the roster except for Thomas/OG that just joined the Rams, that's a good sign. After the draft he added Wesco, Harry, Watts, Sanborn, Jaylor Jones , Claypool, Leatherwood, Joel Blackwell, Lamar Jackson, Sterling Weatherford, Killen Die sch and Taco Charlton. Not all of these moves have played out yet but that's an A+ for effort for remaking the roster.

The one thing we were always missing was a great QB, IMO we now have one. The trick is to build around him. Poles is transferring our emphasis on O instead of D. The key will be to have both. In 1/2 year of work, I think he knows what to do. Poles first 2 draft picks were D. This coming yr will define our future.

To be honest, they have been a successful franchise and have won a lot. Being a Bears fan, I would have liked that to. Have two great QBs. All of that has created for me that I like to see them become losers.
