Cutting Trevathan will cost us an additional 9 mil, right now he's a 5 mil cap hit. We would save nothing. He played a lot better the second half of the season. I think covid affected his preperation for the season which cost him a slow start. Besides he is one of leaders of the defense.

For me , it's a statement of we are moving on from mediocrity and looking to be a better team. Leno was always ( he's not that bad) , for me, he's not that good. A stud OT will have some bumps along the way but he will get better, not decline to be worse. That was all we could hope from Leno. Plus, we needed the money.

I read where 9 teams had Fields rated higher than trevor Lawrence.

Trevathan not going anywhere, cutting him would cost us 9 million more and not save any money. Right now he's a 5 mil cap hit. Miller maybe.

I have read everything I could about the Rodgers ordeal and he won't be there QB anymore. There is a reason he announces he wants out on draft day. He holds a grudge and he wants the GM gone or he ain't coming back. One of his friends was asked about this and he said there's a 5% chance he will be back.

NY bears wins the lottery today. To be honest, Leno was the mainstay of mediocrity on this team, now that he's gone, we can move to a new stage of beardome become a better team. I would much rather have a player that will ascend than a player that can only get worse. Goodbye mediocrity.

Keep in mind players you cut at the end of the roster gives you money back. For example, Wims-Joel Iggy-Nall-Pierce-Christian-Tabor clear up between 5 and 5.5 mil in cap space. That's close to the rookie payout. As they keep rookies Tonga, they drop LaCall London 660,000 cap space. I think they can stay cap friendly with just back end cuts.

I think he's here for the kick returner spot. As well as Newsome is a punt returner. This backups have to fill special teams needs.

I could care less about value just think losing more darts at the board isn't a good long range development plan. BUT I have no problem with landing 2 top 20 players with the lost draft capital. I spent a lot of time looking at draft info and Jenkins will be a stud. Reminds me of the Quinton Nelson pick, a nasty attitude and aggressive approach. Also do not count him out at LT, he played 8 games there and was put at RT for the team's run game. NY may get his wish, if they cut Leno after June 1st, that the exact amount of money we need for our cap balance. Boron has lost 35lbs and got into better shape before the draft which contributed to his low draft value. He may be a big surprise AND he brings nasty to the line.

One of Rodgers former teammates said this has been going on for several years. He has the power to force a trade if this just isn't a money grab and is a big enough tool to make it happen.

If I remember correctly, I think 1/3 of all rosters in the NFL are UDFAs. I could have that percentage wrong but I know it's very high.

For having low picks, Pace did well. A CB capable of making the roster, a punt returner, a kickoff return guy, a backup NT, another OT. I have seen some boards that had Herbert as the 5th best RB. Konga had 13 knocked down passes, amazing for a fat guy. The last couple of drafts, Pace has did well.

I would suspect most GMs have that syndrome, that's how they got there jobs to be begin with. I would have loved Radunz and Rodgers but it takes 3 yrs to know if a draft works out and I didn't get to choose. I'm not a Pace lover by any count but I do hope what he does works out because I'm a bears lover. Because I would prefer a new GM that doesn't mean I want him to fail in his roster building. I love the Jenkins pick and think Fields ends up being a keeper. So I hope success with everything we do this year. As far as GMs go, he is in the middle of success and failures if you're rating them, it's just easier to remember what he fails at.

Fields is the second best QB in this draft and Jenkins is a day one starter with all pro potential. I seen a study of RAS , a athletic rating for players, where Jenkins scored 30th out of 1126 OTs taken since 1987. He is a special player. Besides that, he is a killer, watch some tape on him. He has 2 negative plays out 1127 snaps last year. More than anything he will give our line some attitude. I liked players like kreutz and Kyle Long that are physical and want to hurt you on the field. He will upgrade the whole line with his attitude. Now if Pace can grab some WR talent and a CB prospect, we will have a very successful draft. The draft so far has given us 2 top 20 players, that doesn't happen very often.
-
I agree we need to add more pieces, but don't think we need more IOL. Whitehair and Daniels can play, still some questions on Mustipher but Olin Kreutz is all in on him and he should know. IFEDI, Barr, and Wilkinson can play inside which gives us enough depth and upside to not have to worry about those positions right now. Could we upgrade their, yes, but we have other needs more pressing. Another OT absolutely.
-
Jenkins has played left tackle before and in his interview has been practicing LT and OC during the off season. I think he may very well could be put there especially if they draft another OT. He could be a special player, may be able to play anywhere.
-
I always thought Goodwin always played the slot but after he came here was checking him out and the majority of his reps have been outside. Has great vertical speed but not good with short area quickness. Something slot guys usually have for traits. Him, Mooney and even Robinson has played the slot .
-
I totally see Cohen playing 80% of snaps as a slot WR if he doesn't find us a slot WR. We have D. Williams now who is a good player.
-
He did all of this with the idea of a WR he liked that might be available later. He will get us one some how. Mooney was a 5th round pick, Wims was a 7th.
-
We need to keep in mind 2 oline players last year were UDFAs. If the draft gets away from us, we still can find players. Barr and Mustipher are nice oline pieces. Also in assessing the Jenkins pick, he brings an attitude of kreutz and Long of which this oline is missing. If we have to gain a yard, I know who they will be running over. He will solidify our oline for yrs to come. No more guessing at RT going forward.
-
Pace may have gambled at the right part of the draft. There was a run on OTs after that.
-
Maybe they try Miller one more time but his fight at the end of the year may have showed him the door. Actually Mooney and Goodwin play outside and Miller was the slot WR. Also don't forget, I suspect Cohen could be the slot WR going forward.
-
We have like 10 CBs on the roster. I think the law of averages, one of them will step up and play well with Johnson. I think Shelly or Vidor has the NB spot filled. Tre Robinson had high hopes until an injury took him out of last year. If healthy trufant can play well. The defense will be just fine, bring in offensive players.
-
They don't have a clue on what's going on with the bears. They look at the roster and see a UDFA is starting at OC and figure it's a need. Is Mustipher better than average? We don't know but Kreutz and Tom Thayer likes him so I'm going with their opinions.
