Sounds like it will be a post-June 1 cut, saving the Bears around $2.8 million this year.

I know there are a lot of if's, but if the 2 vets work out, and the rookies play to their potential, could this possibly be the best group of LB's ever? Just seems like I have never seen a team with 5 LB's that could potentially be starters. I am really excited about this bunch.

Do they wait until after the Super Bowl, or is this something they get done soon? I would hope the sooner the better to get the head start on next season.

Most of you know that I deliver the Chicago Tribune and while I was delivering it I saw a little headline that said Bowman to get the nod, but I didn't have time to read it so I came home and found the article. Many of us were hoping it would happen and I think this is the coaching staff saying that they aren't afraid to make changes like we thought in the past. Kudos to Lovie Smith. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...0,1143111.story

Not really any threads here to just address the draft over all, so here we are. Been watching a lot of edge tape and different football guys opinions on DE players. Dallas Turner is rightfully the top prospect by most people.. He has such great upside. Latu has a higher floor to contribute right away but Turner is long term . Latu also some medical concerns. I liked Jared Verse but after watching tape and opinions, he doesn't have the bend or flexibility to be a 10+ sack man regularly. To give credit AZ54 already mentioned that. Latu can contribute the most in his first year but not quite the athlete Turner is. Greg Gabriel rated them Turner- …

I know he wasn't a favorite on here, but I always thought his bad year had more to do with injuries then anything else. Granted, that's pure speculation. That being said, in 2006 we were loaded at tackle with Tank, Tommie, Boone, and Scott. For at least one game, 3 of the 4 were out and we struggled with injuries all season long. In 2007 we were again loaded with Tommie, Dvoracek, Walker & Adams. Again we were killed with injuries. Is there something about these big linemen who can't move quickly without getting hurt? That being said, Walker is still available. He can't be expensive since nobody has signed him, he knows the system and he'd sh…

Former Longhorn arrested 09:11 AM CDT on Sunday, May 4, 2008 KVUE News Former Longhorn Cedric Benson was arrested Saturday evening by officers with the Texas Park and Wildlife and Lower Colorado River Association. Benson is out on a $14,500 bail. Benson was arrested for boating while intoxicated and resisting arrest. The 25 year old former Longhorn running back was drafted by the Chicago Bears in 2005. This is not his first arrest. Back in 2004 Benson spent time in the Del Valle Correctional Facility for criminal trespassing. Just listened to an interview where Hub was asked, if the Bears wanted to get rid of Urlacher, what could they get in return. Hub said a 2nd, which surpised the radio guys. Hub reasoned that Urlacher is still a great athlete, and further said much of his downturn in play is believed to be, at least in part, due to his playing in a system that he has never been a great fit for. Hub talked about how Urlacher has never been a big fan of the cover two, and how it only got worse after Rivera left and Urlacher was pushed into more and more zone scheming. Hub said if Urlacher went to a team w/ a more creative DC (mentioned Pitt as an example) that he could again become …

Boras talks about Gaines addition on Chicagobears.com What have been your impressions of free-agent addition Michael Gaines? I’ve been impressed with Michael since he’s gotten here. He’s tried to learn the offense as quickly as he can. He gives us some versatility as well because he can line up as a fullback for us as well as an inline blocker. He just has that mass. He’s got size to him. He’s probably the heaviest tight end we have. He could be both an inline blocker as well as a fullback for us.

I'm going to get ripped, and even I'm confused as to why I'm making this thread. 1. Derek Anderson hasn't looked too good, but they are paying him $10 million a year, and I don't think they'll be paying him that riding the pine. 2. Orton is a back-up QB in the NFL (just a starter here, and a few other places). If we are going to suck, we might have a top 10 pick anyways, and we may as well start rebuilding by picking up Brady. 3. With CW coming back as soon as possibly week 12 this year, draft another OT in the 1st round (or an OG) and he'll have a young line. 4. It probably won't take a 1st round pick anymore, it might just take a 2nd and a 4th, maybe a 4th ne…

was Garza better at G or C? The reason I ask, I thought its been mentioned that he was better at G. Why not Move Long to RT, have Mills as a back up and put Garza back at G. Then draft or sign a Center. Wouldn't that make the Oline a whole lot better, that is if Garza would be capable at performing well at G. The Bears will get Slauson back. RT- Long RG- Garza C- player to be named LG- Slauson LT- Bushrod or swap Long and Bushrod........Maybe Im wrong but Long was drafted to one day be a T.

There are many good players on this team, so let's fix it. My thoughts are simple and always have been. We start by fixing the OL. Spend two high draft picks on OL. Spend one on QB. After that, draft speed on D. Clearly, Nagy has struggled this year and nobody is looking at Helfrich. I suggest Nagy hire a more conservative OC to balance his mad scientist style. I believe Helfrich is not a counter balance. Then, Nagy has to listen. On defense, Pagano needs to find his inner Fangio on defense. We heard how aggressive Pagano is. I haven't seen it. Lastly, stop trading up. It rarely works and sends an instant message to the drafted player saying,…
