i don't get it. this should be one of the most important free agents on the market for the bears since gaithers was signed by the chargers. it would make this team more than just a little better. also the center, chris myers, for the texans is out there along with wells from the packers. picking up a good stop-gap center would hold us over until we can draft his replacement and free up garza to compete for the guard position. these can't be cap breaking contracts from any of these guys so why are we dragging our feet?

Hey, news is hard to come by this time of year for NFL fans. I found this article on a blog of a Bears fan and found it a bit interesting. It goes over how the cover 2 defense is suppose to work. Nothing earth shattering. Still found it one of the better descriptions on how our defense is suppose to work. Tampa 2, Cover 2; What do the Bears do?

Some seasons you can't point to a defining moment, which shaped the course of the season, for better or for worse. In 2001 I'd say it was the miracle catch by Raymont Harris vs. San Fran, and then the following interception for a return by Mike Brown. In 2002 I'd say it was Leon Johnson trying to catch the punt with his face-mask. In 2007, when the Bears had the lead vs. Dallas and Bernard Berrian let a certain touchdown bounce of his hands. In 2008, the Bears have moment, we have a 17 to 3 lead, and we had a Carolina team that looked frustrated. Greg Olsen hands Carolina the ball in scoring position. Carolina scores, momentum shifts . . . the end. …

http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2011/02/08/rep...chester-taylor/ LAKE FOREST, Ill. (CBS) – A published report says the Bears are planning to release backup running back Chester Taylor before next season. John Mullin of Comcast SportsNet reported that at age 32, Taylor’s arrow is “definitely not pointing up.” Taylor was signed to a four-year, $12.5 million contract in March 2010, and last season averaged 2.38 yards per carry, which Comcast calls “a dreadful mark.” The Bears have already paid him $7 million, and his base salary for 2011 is expected to be $1.275 million, Comcast reported. The Bears have not released an official comment on the subject. What an inc…

http://chicagobearsfanforum.com/blog/?p=242 The Bears * Brad Biggs of the Chicago Sun-Times says that Kyle Orton believes the wide receiver position has been “upgraded”: “The guys have been there [in the offseason program]. The receivers have been there and I’m real excited about them. I think we’ve got a lot of talent and really upgraded at the position.” Biggs suggests that this may have been a veiled swipe at Muhsin Muhammad, who had a bad habit of throwing QBs under the bus when things weren't going well. Could be. But I think they're going to miss Muhammad more than most people think. For whatever reason, t…

Every year I gush over a player or two and take things to an obssession at times, this year's object of the lemonej man crush is Amari Cooper. I think that he is a dynamic player and will be a star in the league. True this is not a position of need but some of the best teams in the league year in year out take the best player available and make it work. If Cooper falls to the Bears at 7 I say take him. Last Year I wanted Aaron Donald and he went before the Bears pick. I'm hesitant to tout another Ala Saban DB because they haven't so far transitioned well in the NFL including a couple of his LSU DBs also. Previously I have sang the praises of Alshon Jeffries(couldn't…

I guess he's interviewing today, but odds are extremely unlikely that he'd accept the job. According to his agent, there's no way: http://www.collegefootballtalk.com/2009/02...r-to-pitt-talk/ While it would be utterly awesome if he excepted this job, it seems like the only way is if Wanny offers some sexual favors and he gets a nice big 3-4 year contract, which would make no sense for Pitt. However, it would be awesome if he did get the job, we bring in a new OC from the outside, and bring in a whole new offensive staff.

According to rotoworld he'll be hitting the market... With the talks about the stress being on Guards Andy is the guy I want. He also played a little bit of LT last year and I hear he played it well. If they HAVE to kick him out there because Webb doesn't continue to improve then the possibility is there. Then trade down in the first to grab Barrett Jones who offers you even more versatility. Webb-Levitre-Garza-Jones-Carimi If Webb continues to grow, and Carimi was truly only terrible because he wasn't able to workout due to injury then I think that could be a pretty solid line....If James Brown also continues to grow then when Garzas time has…

Detroit is dead last in the league, 32nd, against the run, giving up an average of 207.7 yards per game. If we pound away with Forte, he could have the best game of his rookie season in week 5. It should be a great game for him to highlight his skills.

I'll check out the game on NFL Network tomorrow but I'm surprised nobody has any comments yet. From the highlights I've seen it appears our Oline played well, not dominant but good enough to allow the playmakers time to do their thing. The Cutler to Marshall connection is definitely alive and well.

Well, the Giants now have nothing to play for Sunday in Minnesota. Last year, Coughlin played the starters even after clinching a spot but they were also 100% last year. Jacobs is definitley not 100%. Then again, if Ward runs like this again, who knows. Yet, we must take care of business tomorrow.
