So I was reading some articles on NFP, that linked me to Draftmetrics, here are the articles: http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/Late-r...to-success.html and http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/Studyi...-NFL-Teams.html Some great info and analysis, checkout their site here: http://www.draftmetrics.com/ Some of the take-aways, based on Big school vs Little school drafting, the Bears are almost dead on league average, where teams like the Seahawks and Saints almost exclusively draft from a BCS eligible school. The Bears drafted over the league average from the Big-12, and less than the league average from the ACC. For the entire league, here is the p…

The Bills traded DT John McCAargo to Indy for a 4th round pick--as per profootballtalk.com. This is significant since McCargo was the guy that Buffalo traded up with Chicago to get in 2006. The Bears gave up the 26th pick for the #42 & the #73 pick. We took Danieal Manning & Dusty Dvoracek. Buffalo would have been one helluva a lot better off standing pat and taking Dvoracek. Not to mention this trade gave us the flexibility to draft Devin Hester. 2006 was also the year that Bears fans were screaming for Angelo to try and trade up to draft Vernon Davis. So far Davis can't even succeed in a Mike Martz offense. I throw this up for 2 reasons:…

Just heard on the score that Jordan Lynch has a meeting set up with the Bears this month. There will be a lot of pre draft meetings, so here is a spot to let us know who were looking at.

It seems that the coaching staff has decided that Olsen is a mismatch in certain situations, and those are the situations in which he'll be used. However, they have yet to explore the type of routes I saw Owen Daniels use against the Bears today. Like a person first learning how to play chess, Turner sticks with what has worked before, seemingly never learning from his mistakes. Frankly, I'm amazed that any team in the league doesn't know that when the Bears are near the goal-line they are planning on spreading out Olsen and throwing either the jump-ball, fade, or slant to him simply because he is taller. The Texans' DBs showed today that taller is not all you nee…

Usually I am no fan of Theisman (I think he is way too full of himself) but this time I have to say he has some good points. In essence he is challenging Roy to actually play or move on. Of course Theisman then goes on to add that he doesn't think any of the Bears WR corps is special. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/football/be...y-williams.html

Question: would you trade the 1st, 2nd, and two 3rd's for Calvin Johnson? I know I would really consider that thought and think this Justin Blackmon can be a Terrell Owens or Calvin Johnson type of threat. If by chance Justin Blackmon falls to the 5th pick that will equal 1700 points on the trade value chart. Our 1, 2, and 3's will equal 1700 points. After watching the bowl game and knowing he wasn't 100% healthy and he absolutely destroyed his competetion shows me he will excel in the NFL and be a top 5 WR. Just a nugget to consider, we do have ammo to go up to pick #5. Also, I think he comes across as a good high character guy. How about Micheal Floyd, some …

The Bears are favored!!!!!, by 2.5, which means on an neutral field, HOU would be -0.5 lol. Interestingly enough, this team is like the Spiderman meme with the Bears. Both have the same amount of pts scored, are near the bottom in the league in yards (Bears 32, Texans 28), have almost the same amount of pts against, same amount of sacks (5), and both teams cannot stop the run (Bears 32, Texans 30). The biggest differences are the Bears have a much better rushing game (8 v 27), which plays into the Texans' weakness, and the Texans give up a ton more passing yds (270 vs 183), good for a Fields get right game. Just based on yardage, the Texans do nothing wel…

The question is valid. Opposite of Hicks is a void with minimal production and average promise. I think 3-4DE is more of a need than OLB. Nobody even really knows who the starter is there for 2019. I’d love to see Jerry Tillery slip because of off-field concerns. He could be great in the role.

Article about the wrap up session in training camp I would have loved to have seen this: KJ must have hit Okwo like a Mack Truck to knock his mouthpiece out. I liked what I saw in Forte last week and like what I am hearing about KJ. Could be a dynamite duo!

Was the drive at the end engineered by Orton. Outstanding. I was hoping he would break through with a game ending drive. Can't blame him for the loss. He looks like our starter for years to come. Peace

Interesting thought... Now that the Bears are continually surprising people with lesser talent and depth, what should the Bears do in the draft? Part of me still wants to give Fangio everything. He's basically making chicken salad out of chicken shit every week. What would this guy do if the Bears got a few grade-A studs on defense? DL Sutton - Goldman - Jenkins appears to be the starting DL, and I don't think it's that terrible. They don't get a ton of pressure, but in a 3-4 that's not their primary focus. Jenkins could be gone because his contract is up. Gotta consider Ego in there as well. LBs So now the LBs. McPhee, McClellan, Jones, Acho…

Trade Hester and Olsen and use the value you get to upgrade the line of scrimmage. - Hester will never be much better than he is now and, at this point, he is at best a #2 receiver. He needs to be a slot receiver and I see Knox as the exact same player who is younger with more upside as a receiver. - Olsen is an ok receiving TE (should be much better) who is a horrible blocker. I would rather get K Davis on the field more. Further, it seems Cutler zeros in on him on every play. Peace

Only about 10% of our posters glasses with be overflowing, maybe 30% will view the draft with a half full glass, about 40% of the posters will view the draft with a half empty glass, and the remaining 20% of the posters glasses will be empty as they will throw them through their TV screen, breaking not only their TV but the glass as they curse Angelo and demand his resignation. Angelo will trade down at least twice. Angelo will draft only 1 or 2 players many of us ever heard of or considered in all our drafts. Anyone else want to add their predictions? LOL

Thought this could be an interesting thread; We've had a lot of discussion in the other threads specifically on Fox, but who is everyone picking/want as the next head coach. I'm going to throw my name out...David Shaw, Stanford HC. Very charismatic, high character, proven head football coach (at college) but he also has extensive experience at the pro level (as an assistant). His overall style fits the Bears legacy well and likely resonates with the McCaskeys (to go along with his character). Hard nosed football, runs a pro offense at stanford, strong defense...overall an offensive mind whose overall style should resonate with the general Bears fan base. Not only …

So based on the latest 53-man roster, we have only added 4 players 30 yrs or older this offseason, yet we have removed 14 players from the 2014 53-man roster that would be 30+ this year. With one of our gains being Gafford (Long Snapper), we really only have 3 new positional players added over 30 (or 10 less compared to last year). That is a pretty big turnover coupled with the 25 new players on the 53-man roster. We will basically see a complete roster turnover in 2 offseasons, which is pretty remarkable. Looking to next year, we will also have some money to spend (and lock up Long/Alshon) with Allen/Forte coming off the books. 2015 53-man gains (30+ age) Gaf…
