Especially not when the DT talent in this draft is so good throughout the first two rounds. If that's the Bronco's offer then we'd have to go well above that to get him to sign since his preference is to stay in Denver. Elway knows keeping that defense together is the only way they'll get back. But still that's getting crazy IMO and he's probably got to pay Von Miller $17-20mil/yr.

So in my daily fact gathering of all that is Bears I found an intriguing story in Bleacher Report. In it they discuss a bargain FA acquisition for each team. For the Bears they chose Nick Fairley (currently of the Rams). Although he hasn't done much lately perhaps in Fangios scheme he'd do better? And why not spell Goldman from time to time? All I have to say is Bryce Williams was a name thrown around as a mid-round possibility. PASS He looks soft, lacking definition, zero explosion, and his 40 was slow. --EDIT-- And a ball hit him in the face. Right through his hands. No thanks.

It seems that if you take Smith, you should do so knowing there is a high risk that he doesn't play or is really just building himself back in 2016. I am okay with that risk, but it would be really interesting to see what the actual quacks are looking at and see when they review these guys. Makes you further appreciate those "medical" guys who end up just falling down draft boards despite "good" reports of health.

Yesterday Pace stated he was comfortable with Leno Jr as his LT. I suspect he means he takes another step on the progression scale to being better. Also he stated he will address the OLine in FAgency. Also that depending on who they get in FAgency will depend on the position Long will play either OT or OG. Apparently McPhee and Jenkins were high school teammates, and McPhee is recruiting Jenkins to come play for the Bears. Jenkins is kind of a polarizing player. There are times where he is REALLY good and times where he gets beat pretty bad. I have a lot of faith in Ed Donatell and his ability to coach up corners, I think if he came here we would see more of the really good player and less of the bad plays. Now that we've all thanked Forte for his many contributions to the Bears for the last 8 years it's time to figure out who we are adding to the roster at RB. There is no way a RB focused coach like Fox is heading into the season with Langford and Carey as certain #1/2 on the roster, and with no clear 3rd option. I don't think there is much love for S. Perry among the coaches. I've seen no signs they are very interested in re-signing Jacquizz Rodgers, although he might be offered another 1 yr deal later in FA. While they will be looking for Langford to assume that #1 role I can't see Pace or Fox just handing it to him. There will be some competition for the job…

The only history we have to look at is Paces moves last year and what he is saying about this years FAgency Last year he signed 15 free agents. McPhee got 5 year 39 mil. ( the only large money deal) I think he does the same situation this year. One big money guy and several 3 year 15 mil. type deals. I think he grabs Trevathan for like 5 year 40 mil deal. I think he grabs Jeff Allen for 4 year 20 mil. Scanning names in FA and noticed Ian Williams FA NT from the 49ers. 65 tackles last season puts him ahead of Wilkerson. He's not a pass rusher but that kind of productivity inside would have made him him our best Dlinemen last year. For comparison Malik Jackson had 45 total tackles. Williams started his career with the 49ers as UDFA and worked his way up. Certainly Fangio would have some experience working with him. We might be seeing one of Williams or Damon Harrison from the Jets (he had 72 combined tackles last year). Goldman moved out to DE could be quite effective with interior pressure. We probably all saw this one coming. I just hope they don't spend a first or second rounder to replace him or Forte like they did Marshall last year. He's near the top as all around TE's go despite an off year.
