http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/footb...0,2053631.story After tests, Orton told he'll miss 3-4 weeks By Vaughn McClure | Tribune staff reporter 6:43 PM CST, November 3, 2008 After undergoing a series of tests Monday, Bears quarterback Kyle Orton was told he would miss three to four weeks, according to an NFL source. "The MRI revealed no ligament tear," according to the source. Coach Lovie Smith would not reveal Orton's status during a Monday news conference, saying only that his quarterback was scheduled to take more tests. Orton will miss Sunday's game against undefeated Tennessee but could return in time to face Minnesota on Nov. 30.

Orton: Now you can take this a number of ways, but it sure does seem like a shot at the Bears since that is the only "talent" he has ever been around.

Is it me, or does it just feel odd on yet another day when the quarterbacking for the bears is beyond atrocious, 2 castoffs (Orton, no so much a castoff albeit) perform well and provide big wins for their teams? Many of us have claimed that we simply cannot develop players. I'm not sure that's the case here...but it just makes me think. My dad brought the subject up to me. While we both agreed that Cutler is better than either of those 2...it was just kind of odd both did well while we floundered with no heart or brains yet again...

I haven't been on the Orton wagon, ever. The only positives I've seen from him were he isn't made of glass. His 2nd half last night reminded me of how bad he can play. However, over the course of this season, he actually seems to be improving. He almost seems to be moving towards being a middle of he pack to even proficient at times. If he continues to limit the mistakes and actually learn each week, I am thinking he may just work out. The big thing that leaps out at me at this point is time of possession. In recent years, our D wore thin quickly trying to play so many minutes.. Lately, it seems like we can actually put drives that eat the clock together and we have ha…

Chicago Bears QB Kyle Orton's Great Game Against the Vikings Could Have Been Greater Posted Oct 21st 2008 11:47AM by Michael David Smith (author feed) Filed under: Bears Bears quarterback Kyle Orton had a fantastic game on Sunday against the Vikings, and he's looking nothing at all like the guy who started for the Bears in 2005. Orton completed 21 of 32 passes for 283 yards, with two touchdowns and no interceptions, for a passer rating of 114.5 on Sunday -- the sixth best passer rating in the league in Week 7. But he actually did that on a day when his receivers didn't do him any favors. Marty Booker dropped what should have been a 14-yard touchdown pa…

Among the MANY things that come to mind once the shock settles in was the value Denver placed on Orton. Watching NFL Network, I think they were talking w/ Charlie Casserly. Pretty sure that's who it was. Anyway, he said there were several other teams very serious in the mix, but at the end, it came down to Orton. NYJ - They were willing to match picks, but Denver didn't care for their young, unproven QB prospects. Wash - Simply put. Casserly said Denver preferred Orton over Campbell, and by some measure. The feeling was Campbell was more similar (in terms of style) to Cutler, while Orton is more similar to Cassell, who he wanted all along. Minn…

In a move that is polar opposite from what the staff with the Bears do with holdouts, the Giants immediately put their star DE back with the first team when he was cleared to play and announced he would practice under the terms of his current contract. I wonder if maybe he will use the upcoming game against the Bears to solidfy his case for a new deal. The game in the Meadowlands last season should have been on his personal highlight film for 2010.

One of the greatest DCs of all time died of cancer. Jim Johnson in Philadelphia was an outstanding DC who will be missed by all who loved watching his agressive defensive style. Now that Kippen has retired in TBB and J Johnson has passed away, the NFL will be without 2 Defensive Coordinators who should both be in the HOF for their accomplishments. http://www.philadelphiaeagles.com/news/NewsStory18048.html

does anybody that watched that game doubt for a minute that las vegas made the call? as time expired on a kickoff return the bolts were lateraling the ball and polamalu tipped one backward lateral and ran it in for a td. the results made no difference in the outcome of the game and only effected the actual score and gambling spread. it was so plain, so obvious (even the field ref called it a td) that the only conclusion in my mind is that gambling/vegas influenced or paid off the review judge. never in my entire life have i see a play reviewed by booth or otherwise after time expired which would not influence the final outcome of the game and certainly reverse a…

Non Bears related. But need some fantasy advice. My team is on life support. 10 team full PPR I'm sitting at 5-6 with 3 games left. I pretty much need to run the table to have a shot at the playoffs (not looking good). We start 1 QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1TE, 1 Flex (RB/WR/TE), 1 K, 1 D/ST. Current roster QBs - Cousins and Prescott RBs - K. Hunt, Mixen, Howard, J. Richard WRs - D. Adams, Cooper, Allan Robinson, Sammy Watkins, Anthony Miller TEs - Ertz, Graham K - Lutz D/ST - Bears Trying to decide who on my team is expendable to open up roster spots to add players that can help these next three weeks. I plan on droppi…

Just wondering if anyone read Michael Lewis' book The Blind Side? Offensive tackle Michael Oher from Ole Miss (who just declared for the draft yesterday) is apparently featured prominently in the book as the "perfect left tackle on paper" and the book talks a lot about his story. Any reviews (of the book or the player)?

Not Bears related but should be a good SB this year. Bengals haven't been to the SB since 88, and It's been a while for the Rams. I like that's it's different teams competing for it rather than Tom Brady vs whoever. I like both QB's in this game, and you have to feel happy for Stafford to finally be free of the pit of misery (aka the Lions), and has a chance to play in the big game. He suffered a long time on a team that couldn't win. Burrow has really come into his own, and if I'm not mistaken he's the first #1 overall to represent his team in a conference championship game ever. This has been an entertaining NFL playoffs (as entertaining as it can be without the…

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/category/rumor-mill/ Overtime proposal passes Posted by Michael David Smith on March 23, 2010 3:22 PM ET The National Football League owners have approved a change in overtime, starting with the playoffs following the 2010 season, that will modify the sudden-death format and prevent a team from winning a game with a field goal on the opening possession. The vote was 28-4, with the Buffalo Bills, Minnesota Vikings, Baltimore Ravens and Cincinnati Bengals voting against. It needed at least 24 votes to pass. "It was really a good discussion in the sense that there's been a lot of debate, both publicly and privately, ove…
