When we hired Pagano the rumors were that he would be more aggressive calling defensive plays than Fangio was. At first Pagano insinuated he'd be the one learning the Fangio terminology and by default it sounded as if he wasn't going to change things much. In the OTAs we've already heard Nagy talking about the different coverages they are seeing and players have talked about differences they have to learn, albeit generically so nobody gives away any secrets for week 1. In this video of Trevathan mic'd up around the 1:10 mark you will see Trevathan, Floyd, and Skrine rushing off the left edge at the same time and keeps RRH and Hicks on the other side. I don't recall…

Todd McShay came out with his first mock draft so I was wondering if we have any insiders here to copy and paste it. As a non insider I can only see the first 3 picks....3rd pick was QB Blake Bortles....Man I swear there seems to be a new QB every week that pops up to be a top 10 pick.

http://walterfootball.com/nflrumors.php There would be "panic" in the Bears' warm room if Aaron Donald is off the board, according to Todd McShay. ------------------------------- If this were Jerry Angelo's war room I'd expect a panic move if his targeted player were off the board. We're led by Phil Emery now and Phil plans for all situations. Besides that, we have so many needs there will be several options. If one of the top 3 LTs fell to us and we took him I'd live with that and move Bushrod to RT (likely next year). At #19 you are hoping your guy falls to you. At #14, in this draft, you will have a significant talent on the board when you pick. The ot…

Think Cam Newton has looked "Down" in his past few games? Smash him between Peppers and Briggs and see what that does.

I have seen some people suggesting this, but knowing what the Bears gave up for Mack, at the end of the day, I don't know if 2x 1st rounders would be worth it knowing how much help the OL needs. What do you think? If the Bears offered up their next 2x 1st rounders, would you trade for Parsons? I wouldn't because the Bears need to build with the draft, and I would rather they gain draft capital than trade it away.

Pompei makes the argument that while Cutler has an incredible arm, he is also going to throw picks. In general, I agree w/ this. QBs w/ strong arms and aggressive instincts are simply put going to throw more picks. That is simply how it is. However, the idea is they will also throw more TDs, thus throwing (for example) one pick per game is not really that painful. What bothers me though is more in his reasoning than his argument in general. He makes the case that, to date, Cutler has played in 37 games and thrown a total of 37 interceptions. He then compares Cutler w/ Payton Manning and Tom Brady, and points out how Brady threw a pick every 42.4 throws an…

The Chicago Sun Times believes that the Bears are more likely to cut ties with Cedric Benson this offseason than Garrett Wolfe. Admitting mistakes isn't GM Jerry Angelo's strongsuit, so a three-year old error would be a bit easier to deal with than a one-year old admission. Wolfe still has potential, but is unlikely to be higher than third on the depth chart. Source: Chicago Sun Times Long-term contract discussions between the Bears and DT Tommie Harris have broken off. Getting him locked up is still the Bears' priority, but Harris and his agent (Drew Rosenhaus) are asking for record money. Chicago is thought to have offered more than the seven years, $50.5 mi…

Has anyone else noticed that there have been quite a few OBVIOUS pass interference situations on the Bears WRs/TEs, and they have not been called? It seems that there has been many more than normal recently, with replays in more than one game making announcers say, "Yeah, that should have been pass interference." Is this a matter of respect for the passing game, or lack thereof?

More fun with tampering: Bears met with Peppers' agent Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on March 2, 2010 11:03 PM ET The Bears have taken an illegal running head start towards free agency, according to the Chicago Tribune. David Kaplan reports that the representative for Julius Peppers, Carl Carey, met with Bears brass during the NFL Scouting Combine. Carey has only one active contract in the NFL, so he's not just chit-chatting. We know: this stuff happens all the time. It happens so much, the word "tampering" isn't even in the Tribune's story. Denials will come swiftly Wednesday, but the league has to have a problem when their rules are flaunted so public…

I know I am concerned about the Bears offense, but league-wide, offensive numbers are down across the board. Check out some of these stats thru 2 weeks: 300-yard Passing Games thru 2 weeks: 2024: 5 2023: 13 2022: 13 2021: 21 2020: 16 2019: 20 2018: 19 2017: 13 2016: 20 Red zone passing TDs thru 2 weeks: 2024: 40 2023: 67 2022: 74 2021: 71 2020: 79 2019: 56 2018: 69 2017: 57 2016: 64 So as bad as Williams has been numbers-wise, they look a lot better considering what the rest of the league is doing too.

During the interview with Cutler and Marshall, Jay mentioned that having Jermemy Bates here installing some of the things they did in Denver was going to be big for him and Brandon since they both are familiar with the system. I can't say I watched too many of Denver's games back when Cutler was there so I don't know exactly what this means for our passing game. Perhaps some of the folks here that are more football savvy can explain what we're likely to see in our passing game this year. Interview link: http://www.chicagobears.com/multimedia/mul...clip=Y&rn=2 I just watched the interview with Emery and he said "people will be surprised how Tice's new …
