Free agent Julius Peppers reportedly will refuse to sign a long-term contract with any club not on his four-team wish list "under any circumstance." Adam Schefter notes that Peppers already turned down a deal from Carolina that would've trumped Jared Allen's, so he's not playing games. The Broncos, Packers, Chiefs, and Dolphins are positioned the best to get him. Source: NFL.com

PEPPERS WANTS OUT OF CAROLINA Posted by Mike Florio on January 17, 2009, 12:15 a.m. At a time when the Carolina Panthers would be required to tender a $17 million one-year salary to defensive end Julius Peppers in order to keep his rights via the franchise tag, Peppers is making it known that he doesn’t want to remain with the team. “The front office has been informed of my desire to explore opportunities with other NFL teams following the expiration of my contract next month,” Peppers said in a statement e-mailed by his agent to ESPN’s Chris Mortensen, and possibly others. “At this point in my NFL career, I am seeking new challenges that will allow me to grow,…

Chester Taylor visiting Bears on Friday, too Posted by Mike Florio on March 5, 2010 12:48 AM ET Defensive end Julius Peppers won't be the only potential new Bears who's hanging out at Halas Hall on Friday. Running back Chester Taylor will be there, too. Sean Jensen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports that Taylor is expected to visit the Bears on the first day of free agency. In the Mike Martz offense, Taylor could be a Mike Martz/Priest Holmes-style weapon, given his ability to catch the ball. Except when it's squirting out of his hands, and then being intercepted and returned for a touchdown. Redskins out, Bears in for Peppers Posted by Mike…

http://blogs.suntimes.com/bears/2010/03/so...ng_imminen.html Wow if that's true, that's awesome! Still not reading too much into this report until it's actually official but I thought he was looking for something like 16 million a year.

Just saw where Peppers was tagged. What I would love to see explained is, how this was done w/in the cap. All reports previously had Carolina w/ $10m in cap space, and yet they somehow signed Gross to a massive deal AND tagged Peppers, which will count a bit under $17m against the cap. I have no idea how they were able to do this. The only thing I can think of is, maybe this is a time of the year teams are allowed to be over the cap, which I suppose would allow them to get this done. If that is in fact the case, it only further points to Carolina trading Peppers, as at some point, they would have to be under the cap, and would likely have to make massive moves to…

Bears | Orton appears to have upper hand Fri, 25 Jul 2008 08:36:59 -0700 John Clayton, of ESPN.com, reports Chicago Bears QB Kyle Orton appears to have the edge over QB Rex Grossman in the team's quarterback competition. At this point, the job appears to be Orton's to lose because he has less of a chance of losing games. Orton simply makes fewer mistakes than Grossman, even though Grossman possesses the stronger arm.
