The same bad theme keeps cycling through my brain; Pace with another trade down, then a free agent overpay, Nagy with another dumb decision and so on. In just this year, Pace has brought us Andy Dalton at the cost of Kyle Fuller. While I agreed with the trade for Fields, the 'meh' was for trading yet another pick for Jenkins when we could have gotten a tackle with our pick.(but no, he falls in love with certain players) He simply could have kept Trubisky on a cheap deal, kept Fuller, drafted Fields and we'd be stronger. Nagy is just Nagy. He is and will be remembered as the Wile E Coyote of coaches. He gets all of the ACME products to make the perfect rocket…

What are your thoughts on the next crop of HoF QBs? Is the bar going to get tougher with the inflated stats? The top 5 active QBs in passing yards are Brady, Big Ben, Ryan, Rodgers, and Stafford. Obviously, Brady's HoF status is cemented, but it is interesting to see where the other guys fall in. Big Ben is 2nd in active passing yards (62K), is 2-1 in SB's but in those two games, his WR's got the MVPs (Ward and Holmes). He hasn't appeared in a SB in 11 years. He has the numbers and post-season wins to get a jacket but its been a long time since he was "elite". Not many QBs have 60K passing yards and 2 SB wins though (Brady, Manning, Big Ben). Matt Ryan…

I have no way of knowing if Nagy will be replaced as HC. I've given up trying to figure out what the 'brain trust' of the Bears are going to do. Below is a link to an article just posted to NFL.com giving a brief description of thirteen possible candidates for HC positions that might open up after this season, as well as a lengthy list of those to keep an eye on in the near future. I found it interesting. Nathaniel Hackett, Byron Leftwich, Patrick Graham among young NFL coaches to watch

2022 is going to be a major transitional year for the team. We will part ways with close to half of the team. Something else to make the off season interesting is that we'll have to, once again, rely on free agency to field a team. Of course, let's start with the offense. Mooney is the only receiver on the 53 man roster under contract for next year. My thoughts are to draft this position as high as possible. This player must be a true number 1. I'm also good with a solid possession receiver via FA. Running back is stacked, so no need to address. For TE, we have Kmet and Horsted. I would like to re sign James. At OL, we should beg Peters to play one more yea…

Matt Nagy reported that 2nd Rd pick Tevin Jenkins OT will begin practicing today. He could be a boost to the offense if he can work his way into the lineup.

So this comes out: The phantom low block (that missed) on the Graham TD, the Fields Roughing that Passer (that extends the drive), and the lining up in the neutral zone on the missed FG. 2 out of 3 scoring plays and a scoring drive, all negatively impacted by officials against one team. That doesn't even include the hip check and BS taunting call that led to a PIT score. Unbelievable.

This was not a good week for rookie QBs, all of them lost and played bad: Fields 6-20, 68 yds, 0 TD vs CLE (0-1 as a starter) Wilson 19-35, 160 yds, 0 TD, 2 INT vs DEN (0-3 as a starter) Lawrence 22-34, 219 yds, 1 TD, 2 INT vs ARZ (0-3 as a starter) Jones 30-51, 270 yds, 1 TD, 3 INT vs NO (1-2 as a starter) Fields the only one without a INT. BTW, KC is 1-2 and last in their division. IND is 0-3 and somehow behind HOU in their division.

Jackson has a cap hit of $5M this year, which balloons to $15M in 2022, and would be a dead cap of $18.5M as a cut or $8.9M as a post-June 1 cut ($6.1M in savings). In 2023, he has a cap hit of $17M and dead cap of $9.5M. So there are some options. The Bears could go the post-June 1 cut route in 2022, then save the $6.1M for in-season moves or allow it to roll over into 2023. That way he is off the roster as soon as possible with minimal impact on the cap. If they keep him, then he eats up $15M next year and a roster spot, which seems worse to me. I would rather eat $8.9M and have a roster spot for an actual player while saving $6.1M for in-season or rollover dollar…

Let's play devils advocate for a minute, as we've had this argument before regarding T.O. and Brandon Marshall. How could OBJ be different? One thing is, he's still elite. With us having a huge need at WR and being cap tight, we could now get OBJ for 1 mil this year and 13mil the following two. We are getting ready to lose Arob, who can't shake free anyway. OBJ comes out of deep breaks like Tyreek Hill and still has game breaking speed. If he comes in and knows he'll be working with an up and coming Fields, his attitude may become as a mentor. Also, Fields would absolutely have someone he can chuck it to at any time. With Fields deep accuracy and Beckham's abi…

In the offseason, the guy lied about his vaccine status saying he was "immunized", never wore a mask, was in close contact with hundreds, if not thousands of people, who assumed he was vaccinated, and he wasn't. Pretty dirtbag move, but not surprising from him. I could care less if you are vaccinated or not, but it just seems odd that he would go this whole time acting like that. I am sure he will get off with a fine or something minor because he has some pics of the commissioner.

  14. Steelers at home only favored by 6.5 is shocking. That's only 3.5 pts on neutral field which means Vegas thinks this game will be closer than the SF game where the Bears were underdogs at home. There is a chance that Mack and Monty will be back. Borom now has a full week under his belt. I am not confident that the Bears can get a win outside of playing DET, NYG, and MIN. So this is probably a loss unless Fields takes another step in his development. The defense was literally a wet paper bag last week. If they are not better, it is going to be a long night. Steelers 31-24 Bears defense still bad, Bears offense a little better (3 TDs).

  15. Started by adam,

Just had his worst two games of his career back to back these last two weeks: He now has 10 INTs in 8 games (leads the league), and is on pace for 20+. The most he has ever thrown in a season was 12, and he had only thrown 11 in the last two years. He also has 2 fumbles lost for 12 turnovers (Tied for league lead with Lawrence). From reading some analyst's posts, it seems that teams have finally made an adjustment defensively to him and it is causing him major issues. For all the Trubisky talk, Mahomes may not actually be the GOAT after all. What is funny is this is who I thought he would be coming out of college. A guy that can throw 400+ with 5 TDs one…

They also have the 6th pick from themselves. Two top 10 picks is a great position to be in. Bears will pick 40th for their first pick (currently).

Monty has one more year on his rookie deal and has been very solid for the Bears over the last two years. I can't wait to get him back in the lineup where the Bears will have a real 1-2 punch in Monty and Herbert. Thru last week, with Monty missing a few games, their stats are very similar but they are completely different runners: Monty 69-309, 4.5 Y/A, 6-49. Herbert 58-279, 4.8 Y/A, 7-48. If Herbert keeps this up, and looks legit in a small sample size, the Bears will have to decide if they want to extend Monty, which seemed like a no-brainer just a few weeks ago. Now, I don't know. If Herbert is running this good and you can bring in a true fullback…

I have a feeling this SF game will determine a lot. A loss should make them sellers. However, even with a win, I would still look to move any of the following players: 1. ARob - The Bears will get a 2023 comp pick for him, probably a 3rd or 4th, but that can be negated by acquiring FAs, so the guaranteed compensation is thru a trade now. Take a 4th or 5th in 2022 if you can get it. He has been basically a waste of a roster spot s WR1. Bring up Adams or Thompson and see what happens. 2. Foles - To get anything for him and some cap relief that can carry over to next year makes sense. Obviously, you can only move one of the two backup QBs. 3. Jackson - This would b…

  19. Funny that this game is on Halloween because it is going to be scary bad. It's pretty telling that a 2-4 team is favored on the road against a 3-4 team. Vegas has zero faith in the Bears. SF is reeling, having lost 4 straight. Their wins are over PHI and DET. This is a bad team. There is no reason the Bears should lose or be underdogs at home against a team like this. Jimmy G has been terrible and they have literally one player on offense you need to worry about, Deebo Samuel. He has more receiving yards than the rest of the team combined. He has more yards and TDs than ARob and Mooney combined. This is a must-win. If you lose to 2-4 team at home for a 3rd str…

  20. Started by Uncle Buck,

Good morning. I’m not capable of sharing anything new but my own perspective. We’ve had two games back to back against the elite teams of the league. While we were missing some vital players yesterday I don’t think the presence of Quinn and Hicks would have significantly altered the results. So the baseline has been established and looking at it I find our team lacking significantly. Since Ryan Pace arrived the Bears have been 39-48. Can anyone tell me that they feel the foundation of this team has been established(O and D lines)? I submit that this team has been average to mediocre since his arrival and there has been no ascension- I think 2018 was an outlier. Without a …
