Going by #1 need, I'd say Clady. I'd truly think about McFadden/Mendenhall really hard though.

There was the report that Johnson might have a deal with Buffalo and he might be coming to Chicago tomorrow. Has anybody heard any updates on this? I figure we might want Julius Jones, I really haven't heard of any teams interested in him. We have to move on a o-lineman at some point, right??? The last couple of years Angelo hasn't made any moves until early April. Of course I'm still salivating for any any news of guys we might bring in.

OLB Calvin Pace just signed w/ NYJ. 6yr/$42m w/ a $20m SB. Like Adalius Thomas, Pace was seen as an OLB in a 3-4 that can generate a pass rush, as well as play OLB. I realize Briggs could not have fit, but he can not be happy about this. Once again, I use this as evidence Harris better not over-play his hand. IMHO, a big reason the market was not there for Briggs is because he plays in a system that caters to his position, thus putting into question his ability to play in any system. Also, his value in a 3-4 is really questioned, as he never showed much of a pass rushing potential in Chicago. IMHO, Harris does not fit every team, and frankly, I am not…

NBCSports.com's Tom Curran has confirmed that Randy Moss has agreed to a three-year, $27 million to remain a Patriot. It's uncertain if Moss' efforts to get other teams involved helped, but he's only making $1.33 million-per-year more than Bernard Berrian. His guaranteed money was increased.

Now that pitt just threw down a ton of money on big ben I hope there's a way we can poison pill them with starks and steal him away like we did tait. NFL network listed them in bad cap condition. If we get starks and another fa o-linemen(olivea, or the guard from Tennessee) we'd be free to take someone like mendenhall or stewart with 14. The rb crop of fa is thin and I don't want a washed up j. jones. Go for the youth to compete with benson send him a signal that he's not getting it done, draft mendenhall!

I REALLY wish the Bears could have signed Turner but oh well. At this point, I think the Bears should stick with (what I hope to be) their original plan. Draft a decent OL in the 1st, Flacco in the 2nd. and whatever else for 3rd - 7th. As far as RB goes, because Turner is gone, they should look at the idea of getting someone like Julius Jones, Labrandon Toefield, TJ Duckett or even Mewelde Moore. Mostly because these are more the type of back the Bears need to offset Benson and will come with a decent sticker price and they are all UFA's. If I were Angelo and knowing the Bears are a running team then I would work on a deal to get Marion Barber. Much more diff…

Just wondering what people think of him in general. I always thought he was pretty overrated, but I don't watch a ton of ND games. The reason that I ask is he seems like exactly the kind of player the Bears would draft, like they did with Garrett Wolfe last year, where he's a guy who has got a ton of attention in the area and has a high "name recognition" value at a position we are obviously hurting at. I would not be shocked to see Angelo draft him at the end of the third round. Is he as overrated as I think he is, or am I missing something?

It's great to see Briggs back, even though I was prepared to see him leave. So, what's next JA? The papers say your working on our own players to extend contracts, but shouldn't you be looking at adding an outside piece here or there? Or, are you trying to extend our own (Harris, Url, Hester, Anderson) to gauge what there mindsets for $$ is so you know where our cap space will be for the next couple of years. Those guys are players we want for sure to be around long term and if we can get them extended now, the better. If extensions cannot be worked out, at least we know what were up against next time at the contract table. Hopefully in the next week or two…

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3273447 Moss, Culpepper talk about reuniting via free agency By John Clayton ESPN.com (Archive) Updated: March 2, 2008, 12:33 PM ET * Comment * Email * Print Inside the Huddle: Moss-Culpepper Reunion? I just read that we may be negotiating w/ Harris, Hester, Gould and Anderson. Harris, fine. I think it goes no where, but the process has to begin sometime. Gould. Fine. He deserves it. I do not like the idea of looking to lock up Hester and Anderson though, and before I get ripped, let me explain why. In years past, every organization tried to identify those players on the roster who had a good chance to make a jump in development, and lock them up prior to that jump. Player gets long term security when still unproven, while the team potentially gets a bargain if the player does step up. Some would argue that is a sign the bears are cheap, but …
