McKie sucked already, now we have a rookie. Wonder since we never pass to Olsen he should step in

I'm rather astounded there hasn't been more "love" for Adrian Peterson. AP is a complete back. He's a good receiver and he's a good blocker. He's also a "power runner" which is supposed to be ideal for Turner's system. He'd never be a pro-bowler, but he demonstrated that's he's easily the best running back on this team. While some are demanding that Orton should be the #1 QB next season, where's the love for AP? IMO AP should be named the #1 ASAP. The sad truth is, I don't see us bringing in anyone else. I'd love for us to dump Benson (today on the SCORE I heard him say that he wasn't going to do anything different this offseason . . . what a jack-ass.) There…

It's been one very quiet week on the board after all the Indy chat died down. Usually you see multiple posts about game plans or certain players needing to step up. IMO it appears nobody has a clue what to expect out of our team tomorrow although there is more excitement and optimism than before the Indy game. At least those are my feelings heading into Carolina. I'm not expecting as much of a running game tomorrow, at least it will be a lot tougher than we had it at Indy. On offense it seems to me we need our WR and TEs to step up and make plays in the passing game. They were pretty quiet against Indy. Are we still going with WR by committee? If Carol…

I mean seriously, where is it? We continue to make guys like Griese and Frerotte look like Johnny Unitas. Too much talent on the d-line to look like this.

In one spot I have Ryan Grant (who will probably suck against the Vikings, but I'll go with him anyway) In the other spot I have to choose between: Ricky Williams Senior (I'd planned to start him until Miami hinted Brown may get more carries) DeAngelo Williams Fred Taylor Ahman Green Kenny Watson Thankfully I'm loaded at WR.

Angelo basically said he was pissed about our running game. He said you expect your featured back to break off a couple 20+ yard runs per game, and we didn't do that. He didn't blame the coaches or the o-line, he put it on the running backs. Considering since Angelo has been with the Bears, he's had pretty good luck with FA running backs (Thomas Jones), and pretty bad luck with FA draft picks (Cedric Benson, and probably Garrett Wolfe). Here's a list of some of the running backs available (as per the Peoria Journal Star). I was just wondering who you guys want or think JA will target. #1. Michael Turner, San Diego--(I know he's a favorite here, but I don't…

So I was thinking, regardless if the Bears use #1 on a QB or trade down, they will have at least one pick in the top 10 to draft a non-QB. Knowing that, and with the assumption that 3 QBs will go in the top 10, what group of players must the Bears get at least one player from? For me, it is a group that includes MHJ, Nabers, Odunze, Bowers, or Alt. With 3 QBs, there is a chance that all of them are gone at #9. If that is the case, would you be ok with someone else in this group? Someone like Turner, Verse, or Latu on the Edge? Fashanu? I would rather trade down if none of those 5 are there. Thoughts?

  8. I got two: Houston-Carson and Grasu I think the numbers at S catch with DHC. We have Demps, Amos, Bush, Jackson, and HJQ and Hall moving over there from CB last year. I think at the bottom of the roster the team picks the player who can fill in both at FS and CB and that's Hall. HJQ and DHC depart although DHC could end up on the practice squad. Grasu has to expand his game into the backup OG and there he has some very tough competition. I like what Kush did last year as a backup and I expect Morgan to earn a spot as a backup OG. Unless we keep 9 Oline where does Grasu end up? If Kyle Long is still struggling to return to form then there is a chance we …

Which player would you regret NOT drafting if we can fast forward two years after this draft. Looking for the player that by 2019 is a probowler or our biggest difference maker. Asking for the regret because a prospect can develop into a better pro than his slotted draft rank or may not even be one of our current needs.

There's lots of bellowing about fixing the quarterback position. What bugs the hell out of me is that it's easy as hell to say, but not easy to fix. At LEAST 2/3's of the teams in the NFL are unhappy with their quarterback situation. (If not more) and the teams who are happy sure as hell ain't giving them up. How many teams would like to have Kyle Orton? At least two teams in our division would. For the sake of argument, I'm going to take Angelo at his word that he wants to solidify the QB situation. To me that means no old quarterbacks who'll be done in a year or two. So that would exclude Kurt Warner, Kerry Collins, and Jeff Garcia. According to thi…

  11. OK. The Fields thread is killing me. This thread is for the rookie QBs. If your argument is that we should keep Fields, that's cool, but this thread isn't for that scenario. The rules of this game are that you have to take a QB with pick #1, OR you can trade down to #2 and take any QB except for Williams OR you can trade down to #3 and take any QB except for Williams or Maye OR you can trade the #1 pick away for a fortune, but then you have to take a QB with pick #9 and it can't be Williams, Maye, Daniels or Penix This is also a good thread to just talk about whatever you do or don't like about any of the rookie QBs, even if you don't choose to make a pi…

  12. The most obvious pick is Chris Williams because he is basically guaranteed a starting position at left tackle unless he's injured or something. This is a good way to start building up a young offensive line, and you can't have enough good offensive lineman, everybody knows that. Depending on what they do with Benson, Forte will be an impact player for the Bears this season. Now I remember watching him play a little bit last year and I remember he had over a 300 yard game with like 4 or 5 touchdowns. I don't know much about his gamebreaking speed but he looks to me like a better version of Thomas Jones. He will push Cedric for a starting spot come training camp and I …

I have been thinking lately about the concept of BPA, and how it applies to team needs. Related to that is the concept of value by position. In other words, if the second and third best Safeties are there in the third, then it makes sense to pass on the safety position until then. Having said that... 1st - NT or OLB/DE - if the Bears want/need DT, it needs to happen here. The first three appear to be gone in most recent mocks, which I still can't believe, in the first. Same goes for the elite edge rushers. 2nd - ILB, there just seems to be a ton of talent at this spot, and they disappear by the third. 3rd - FS, After Collins, most mocks have safeties f…

If the Bears draft goes as planned and they get there OLT, QB, RB, WR in the first 3 rounds and when there 4th round pick is up and these two are available, who should the Bears take? Josh Barrett S Arizona St. 6-2 223, 4.34-40 (4.34, 4.30, 4.43) Very athletic for his size, 4.35 speed at combine, in the box safety who can tackle and deliver the big hit, plays the run very well, high football IQ, and a team leader, also can drop back and cover. Tom Zbikowski S Notre Dame 5-11 211, 4.44-40 (4.44, 4.40, 4.58) Hard worker and team leader, has a high football IQ, plays the run very well, in the box safety, cover skills need some work, makes plays whe…

I have always said a team should have an identity. Teams usually win with a dominant side of the ball. Rarely does a team win a championship without either. That being said, the brass wants our identity to be a dominant defensive team with a ball control offense winning the time of possession battle. What is the best path to establishing the goal, now that we've filled holes in FA? Let's pose a draft strictly on that...

Okay, now that Peppers is our man, I think it worth talking about what side of the DL he should play. Peppers has played both sides. As I understand it, he used to play RDE when Rucker was on the left, and then moved when Rucker left, but moved back to RDE this past year. Not sure, but something like that. I have read before that Peppers is best at RDE. That isn't to say he can't play LDE. Not saying that at all. But everything I have ever read was that his best position was RDE, and even when playing LDE, the team worked to move him back, which they eventually did. Brown has always played RDE. I believe that is what he played in college, and throug…

I'm thinking Bengals and Steelers. The Bengals grabbed multiple guys that have been talked about on this board. They could have 5 or 6 first day starters. DB Dre Kirkpatrick DT Devon Still OG Kevin Zeitler TE Orson Charles WRs Mohamed Sanu and Marvin Jones Pittsburgh built up both OL and DL, because they know the war is won in the trenches. OG David DeCastro OT Mike Adams DT Alameda Ta'amu LB Sean Spence
