Leno is the least of the teams worries. He is an ascending player and we have him locked up pretty cheap as he comes into his prime. He may never be a top 5 LT, but it is not out of the realm to slot him in the 8-15 range. I would like this team to draft a OT to eventually replace Massie this coming draft. Orlando Brown LT from Oklahoma would be a huge pick if they could get him RD2, be would make a great RT with potential to play LT.

John Fox quote when asked about job security "Frankly, I don't give a rip" Right there is enough for Pace to send him packing Monday morning.

The main thing about NE, GB, PIT is having great QBs. That is why they need to get the proper coaching staff around Trubisky. Would love to see Fangio stay, but it is the QB that keeps long term consistency.
-
They have to hit on OLB and OT and it would best if they can do so with a 1st RD trade down. Would love to see them land a extra or future 1st along with a 3rd. As you said, they can add a good WR in FA and then draft one RD3 or after. Would love Ridley but without elite pass protection, the WR won't help.

This type of whooping by not only being out matched but completely unprepared should be enough to fire Fox now instead of waiting. I expected a loss, but looking like a circus is overboard.
-
Might as well go for it on 4th, better odds to get the first. SMH

Wentz hanging in the pocket until last second and throwing lasers. The guy is ice, 1/2 second later and he is sacked.

I agree they need a pass rusher to pair with Floyd and I have that as a top need. They don't need to draft all offense, but as you said a WR and OT is a must. The D should stay intact if they can re-sign Prince and Fuller, I expect one to stay, so add CB to the list. On offense Massie and Sutton will be on final years in 2018 and the WR corp depleted. If we can draft OLB Chubb I would take him, but if he is gone, then trading down would be best. We should be able to gain a 2nd RD pick by moving down and be able to address the big needs and still have great cap space to dip into FA with also.
-
I would have no problem with drafting OT round 1 either. This draft looks deep at positions of need and a trade down to would be great to get As many of them needs filled.
-
The focus should be Trubisky and making sure he has everything needed to elevate the Bears into contenders. Giving him a WR to develop long term chemistry with would make sense, even though Kevin White has scared me off from going WR again. Ridley would be perfect, I think he will be a big time playmaker once he plays with a NFL caliber QB. I always want the Bears to find a pro bowl LT too, but Leno Jr just signed, so maybe a 2nd RD RT with potential to develop into that type of LT would work. On defense, we need another OLB and Chubb, Key, or Landry would be nice but negates the Trubisky thought. Can Fangio find a mid round gem if we invest in offense early?

Wish that translated to wins. I look at the D when selecting who to play fantasy wise, and the Bears D is almost always near the top for keeping the points down. Most games we are close, a couple embarrassment though. Either WRs or coaching is holding us back, my take is coaching.

You have positions right, not sure on the players or if the order will be correct. OLB, WR, OT, and CB will get attention. If the Bears land at 6, where they are today, I think they take either OLB, OT or trade down. OLB will be a position of need and pass rush is worth the 6th. OT may not be a dire need, but is a hard position to fill. Taking a blue chip prospect is nearly as important and hard to land as a QB. WR is probably the biggest need, but one that should be filled by FA and not a 1st unless they trade down and accumulate multiple picks in return. Using first-pick.com 1-trade down with ARZ from 6 to 10, a 2nd and a 3rd. Your Picks: Round 1 Pick 10 (ARI): Mike McGlinchey, OT, Notre Dame (B-) Round 2 Pick 6: Dorance Armstrong Jr., DE/OLB, Kansas ( Round 2 Pick 10 (ARI): Courtland Sutton, WR, Southern Methodist (A) Round 3 Pick 10 (ARI): Quenton Meeks, CB, Stanford (A-) Round 4 Pick 6: Cameron Smith, ILB, Southern California (A-) Round 4 Pick 10: Jordan Thomas, CB, Oklahoma ( Round 5 Pick 6: Jake Wieneke, WR, South Dakota State (A+) Round 6 Pick 6: Porter Gustin, OLB, Southern California (A-) Round 7 Pick 6: Daniel Carlson, K, Auburn (A+)

Good catch! I will have to fix that.

Bears K 2017 cap spending. Conner Barth. 989,000. dead Carlos Santos. 690,000 Robbie Could 600,000 dead Robert Aguyo 428,000 dead Total:2707000 Still not terrible money wise, puts them around 10th for K contracts this season. Terrible for production wise, hopefully Santos will put a patch on that.

As much as I want someone magical to come in and transform the Bears into a juggernaut, I respect how Trubisky is slowly coming around. One key component to success is stability. This is a huge year for Pace to decide the fate of the coaching staff, keep it intact or blow it up.
-
Love your notes. Just want to point out two rookie QBs we discussed pre-draft had a rough day. Nate Peterman with 5 Ints and Kizer with 2 and a fumble. I was big on Kizer and I am glad I was wrong on him. The Bears are doing a great job keeping Trubisky reined in so he can develop and hopefully in a year or two the pain of losing will turn into years of dominance.
-
We probably wouldn't have had the fiasco with thinking Rod Marinelli was going to stay to keep the D intact also. They thought he was going to stay with Trestman but the Bears shunned him by not taking Arians.
-
It may be me, but I cannot see the Bears getting to a Superbowl under Fox. Fangio can stay, but how do they persuade a new coach to keep him.
-
I never said he wasn't. My opinion is that Loggains will never get the best out of this offense. Trubisky was a bright spot today with his #s. There won't be a change next year unless they extend Fox or fire him. I just don't want to see Fangio go.
-
Watching the Rams right now and I keep thinking this could be the Bears next year. I just do not see Fox as the HC unless he does the right thing and fires Loggains and hires a one of the best to groom Tru.
-
It would be great to see him get some more reps before years end. Not sure he can make anything out of it, but it would be awesome if he made it happen before we have to decide on that 5th year option.
-
Well said! Patience is tough, but can also be rewarding.

Maybe tides will turn and they will credit the GM for red flagging Watson, he did tear his other ACL in college.
