  1. I tweeted Greg yesterday and his opinion why Nagy would be better than Deflippo was the basically Reid. Reid would help Nagy get the support he would need to be successful as in assistant coaches.
  2. Reid took over in the playoff game to let Nagy prepare for the Bears job. Nagy scripted the first 15 plays. Chief fans will hate us knowing we took their play caller out for the playoff game.
  3. He was a douche 7 years ago. Maybe being humiliated changed him? Sometimes it takes that to grow up. I don't think the Bears are going that way, so we will most likely be safe.
  4. Sounds like he just might be the Bears front runner. He would try and bring Mike Groh WR coach and Phillip Daniels DL coach with him. The best part is he would have Fangio as his DC. This may be the what tips the scales.
  5. Keeping Fangio would be best case scenario. I would hate to lose all that we gained with having him. I have a feeling if we hired Fangio as HC, he would possibly hire Mike McCoy as OC. How would Bear fans feel about that? I don't think we would have to worry about him leaving as a HC for a few years. That is only if he can transform the offense into a juggernaut.
  6. They are locked together imo. Either one retires the team goes into complete rebuild. Especially if they lose both coordinators. Looking like that may be the case, so my guess is this is the last run.
  7. Heard the rumors today. It would be great to think of the possibility but how many more years will he be coaching? Wouldn't be surprised if Belichick and Brady hang it up after this year.
  8. It is such a crap shoot as many have said. My thought is the Bears interviewed Fangio first. In that process, I see the Bears first telling him they want him to remain with the club regardless which way they go for HC. The interesting part would be asking him who he would want to run his offense. That would give the Bears an idea who he is close with. Closing out, I would ask him if they chose another HC who would he stay for to remain DC. Who knows, Fangio may get hired with the right coordinator choices. If he says he prefers to work under Shurmur a Holgrem disciple or Mcdaniels a Belechik bud, we may choose that route. McDaniels Bears HC and Patricia Lions HC would make an interesting rival. I am also intrigued going out there with a Deflippo or Nagy. They might be the next McKay. It should get interesting the next few weeks.
  9. I seen that DeFilppo coached with him in Carolina. A younger coach like him would need to lean heavy on a coach like Fangio, so he would need that Ass3t H.C. title and extra pay.
  10. If they trimmed it down, I wonder if Toub got cut. He was a hot name early on with Chi and Ind. I would love to see how be does (not necessarily w the bears) because he his name gets thrown out there all the time. I know some will not like it, but I have a feeling Paces gut is with Mcdaniels. Some more McDaniel tidbits. Ed Donatell coached under him at Denver as well as his brother Ben McDaniels who are both with the Bears. Maybe Fangio stays with Donatell? We all know Mike McCoy, he also coached under Mcdaniels and he may go with him as OC. Adam Gace also coached with Mcdaniels, so the offense may even be spoken the same since Loggains kept things similiar.. If things work out, Pace may be able to keep continuity of the team nearly intact but lean heavy on offensive minds. The transition should pick up quicker.
  11. He is not in yet, but a finalist. It is just a tough time to be excited about the news since we just finished regular season and have the HC firing to occupy us. Urlacher will have to work the ranks before he ever gets considered HC let alone the LB coach.
  12. Fox is not a horrible coach and got the foundation built. The players loved him, almost seemed comparable to Lovie with some of the quotes as he said his goodbyes. Some losses were on Pace, some on Coaching, and some on we still needed time to add to the roster depth. The next hire will hopefully pick up were he left off and to the blocks laid out. This is why I see someone like Shumur or even Mcdaniels getting the nod over say Deflippo.
  13. It would be interesting to scroll back a few years between the Emery firing and Pace hiring to see what everyone thought back then. How many years was first expected for us to be competitive etc. To me, this team or no team is going to win unless they have a QB. We think we have one now, let's see how it goes with Mitch and give this a chance. Signing the best FAs only eats cap, so you want to be within a window before you start opening the check book. We took so moderate chances on some FAs and missed, but we really didn't hurt ourselves too bad.
  14. He came out arrogant his first go round and didn't survive two full seasons. I am not sold yet, but I am intrigued. Eventually the Belichick tree needs to grow. (Belichick is part of the Parcells tree and so is Sean Payton). Bill Polian, who the Bears highly regarded when they hired Ernie Acorrsi recommends going with a HC that has had previous experience. That will avoid the coach going through a learning curve...Mcdaniels fills that void. Pace originally said he wants to have an alignment between the GM, the HC, and QB as the foundation. Gonna need a OC/QB I here imo. Mcdaniels seems pretty logical as I connect the dots.
  15. I agree with this also. Keep him out of personal.
  16. That would be an interesting dual. I wonder if Key will put up similar numbers at the combine as Floyd. All I can say is we need a "Key" to success and maybe he can be just that.
  17. Understand that, just didn't like Teddy opening up the show. Pace should have been extended before today. The whole show today put Pace in the shadow.
  18. Starting to see Pace lacks balls. He sneaks them in during the draft but having Teddy come out and affirm his belief in Pace seemed bogus. That should have been done before today and Pace should have led today's pony show.
  19. Same with Harbaugh. Gonna be a young mind, DeFilipo or Nagy. Still wouldn't mind Shumur.
  20. Took until the 3rd year, but the key all along was getting a piece to build around. Trubisky is that piece, we were not going anywhere until we had that. We should start seeing progress in my eyes. Get a stud WR and to go with a healthy Meredith and the passing game will improve. Shaheen will be a weapon, Cohen a center piece. Build up the o line and we good.
  21. I figured Chubb will be long gone by 8, but if he is there he will be a for sure. Pass rush is a must with the guys we have and there current contracts. OT will be a close 2nd, the run game was non existent today and protecting the one guy who defines your career is huge. WRs need to be found in FA and later in the draft.
  22. As the season closes, the Bears will be looking at these names and others to add to the 2018 roster. I targeted what should be the the focal point of OLB, OT, and WR at the 7,8, or 9 slot. They may surprise us with a CB, S, G or another position, feel free to throw more names. Is there a player that we cannot pass if a trade down offer arises? The Bears need to hit a homerun once again with 3 to 4 additions. Do they trade down for quantity or take the quality.
  23. They need to at least run a roll out giving Trubisky a decent run option if no one is open.
  24. I believe the assistant coaches contracts expired after this season. It will be a matter of attracting them to re-sign here. Seen rumours of Fangio going to Oak or GB already.
