No way do you let a good football player just walk. First off, I would try and extend the guy. Take that 6 million and spread it out and help both parties if we need cap. If they really have to free up cap space, trade the guy. He is one of the best all around TEs in the league now and should command a 4th at best. If he didn't have to help block, he could be putting up better stats. He is being asked alot this season with the makeshift offensive lines.

The biggest difference between the two, is Langford has speed. Carey can move the chains consistently, but no homerun threat. Going forward, we are looking good if we lose Forte to fa. I have seen a lot of cut Carey early on and I am glad they stuck with him. He is finally getting a chance and making the most of it.

Thanks for posting. Was thinking of this a day or two ago. Last digging I found was Oct 27, White was quoted as saying it is not coming along as he had wanted. Hopefully things have changed since then, he could use the experience. With the injuries continuing to hit the wr core, we could use a capable body.. AJ and Royal both listed on injury report.

Hopefully he can win you back a little. I think i have become numb to how the season bounces or a player performs with the past few seasons, but felt good last night. When Miller caught the go ahead TD, the camera showed something I have rarely seen. They showed Jay excited throwing an all out fist pump. They also caught Jay slapping his players on their rear as they headed to the sideline and he then seen Marty slowly making his way so he jogged back out to him. He has turned a corner this year I believe and is showing signs of the type of QB Pace wants. The next few weeks may not turn out as wins, but I think you will see the different QB.

They kept coming at him, but only 77 yds of rushing. Held 1st round pick Gordon to 31 yds and Woodhead to 33. That is good considering SD was missing nearly all of their starting WRs. Anderson was not drafted and playing as a rookie. It may take him a year to get accumulated to everything and we may have a solid/cheaper option when negotiating with Shea.

3 and 5 and picking near the middle...so far...ugh. That tastes like a 10-6 or 9-7 season and barely missing the playoffs and picking 15th.
-
I think the Bears should give Dri Archer a look. He was released by Pittsburgh as they signed Jacoby Jones off waivers.
-
I would be happy with Wilkerson. Von Miller and CB Josh Norman are two other FAs I would welcome. Pass rush and coverage are two glaring weaknesses that will need to be addressed.
-
Today's Bear rumore are Lamar Houston and Willie Young have both asked to be traded. Neither like there role here apparentl. I can still see Young as a possibility, but no one will touch Houston's contract.
-
I agree it will take a couple weeks to accumulated.
-
They also mention bringing in Montee Ball. Fox and Gase may think he has something to offer since they are familiar with him.
-
And Davis just found huge value as a fantasy player again. Glad I picked him up as insurance now

If that is all it took for a probowl caliber LT, do it. I just do not see that as the case. He is signed through 2018..I think.. and I believe the guaranteed money is done. They are not worried about that comp pick since he has years left. Mack I would think could be had for a 3rd. Thomas will at the very least take a high 2nd.
-
Rather get the higher pick now. I think on offense, we are ok if we add another OL. Defense, we need another 2-3 difference makers. Mostly DBs. We struck out against our division.
-
playoff hopes are now out the window. Now looking forward to the draft party in Chicago. We need someone to add pressure on the defensive line, give me Bosa or Nkimdiche. Second round, CB.
-
Seen that this morning. It would require a first round pick though to get Thomas imo.
-
Worth a shot! We can go all rugby with Paul Lasike and Haynes. Grind it out with the big backs.
-
I wouldn't be surprised if Cook still goes top 15. I doubt Lynch goes pro, but he has drawn praise from draftniks. I am only on the QB bandwagon if they think there is one better than the one we have available.
-
The thing guys don't realize is you can sign him with upfront money. Year one, over pay some but after that he becomes expendable. Bear fans have always wanted to get rid of there best players smh. I keep hearing about Langford, but I haven't seen him make Forte expendable yet. You have to earn that right and this staff has no ties to Forte to hand it to him. When that happens, lets talk letting him go.
-
You also have to realize that teams know Forte is our focal point on offense. He is keyed on more so than say Cutler and the scrap heap WRs we have been trotting out each week. We finally have Jeffery back, so he will at least have another weapon teams will have to worry about. No team will be trading away anything higher than a 5th RD pick for him anyway. The best we may see is a 2017 4th rd pick. I would like to see him re-signed with a modest "team" deal and let him fade to a #2 back behind Langford if Langford can become an NFL #1.

I seen an interesting one two combo, which was ND LB J Smith and Duke S Jeremy Cash. Those two both fly around the field and are in almost every play. Cash is an intersting prospect and the LB/S combo would bring back Urlacher/Brown talks. Not sure McClellin would get re-signed w/o seeing if he can play outside... again. If he gets re-signed means he progressed enough in the middle to see another 3-4 years of him.

I am a Golden Domer homer you might see. I do want to see another starter added to the oline. RG makes the most sense since Ducasse has been the weak link imo, I just pick him since he is a name I know. I would be fine with Smith if we a picking in the 7-10 range. If that is the case, options may be slim. It might be the #3 OT, #2 QB etc. But Kearse is a kid i would like to see. Once the mocks expand to 4 or 5 rounds, his name will start to get known.
-
A late round prospect I would like to see taken rd4 or after is Clemson S Jayron Kearse. He is big, 6-5 215 and would be more of a Nickle rover type DB to start. Give Fangio and Donatell a year to groom him and he can be our Cam Chancellor. Not sure where he gets picked yet since he was one of my sleepers, round 5 would be nice since I think he will need developmental work. But his measurables and family line (Jevon Kearse/Phillip Buchanan S) help. 1-Jaylon Smith LB 2-Cameron Sutton CB 3-Nick Martin G 4-Jayron Kearse S

I see Biggs's point though, IF one of the QBs happens to be a can't miss prospect and BPA then they should still take him even if Jay is playing decent and they have bigger needs on defense. Me personally would prefer to go D because the QBs I see so far are middle first round talent. A lot can change by draft. I just thought it was strange to hear Biggs promote taking a QB.
-
I also agree. You just do not take a QB because one is available, unless you are pretty sure you are taking a sure thing. With that in mind, if you do take QB then as a franchise you better be committed long term into developing that player. Which may take promoting Adam Gase to Asst Head Coach to try and hold on to him.
