  1. I think they are done with FAs until after the draft. They barely have enough cap space to sign that. If that is the case, I think they are looking to draft their starting SS. If they fail to, then back to rework some contracts and hit the market.
  2. That was a topic on 670 one morning, they were talking about should the Bears sign Stephen Gostowkski. There were times last year Nagy did not trust the Kicker, which he may have been hurt too, but went for it when 3 points would have helped. It was the last pick in the 7th, I took the top rated K which isnt a huge need in my eyes but if he is better than what we have why not. I agree QB will be taken the following year, but if there is a player Nagy, Defilippo, Lazzar and Ragone think can be an NFL QB in 2 years, bring him in. Our 2021 QBs will most likely be Foles, rookie, and Bray. I would feel better having a #2 being someone other than a rookie or Bray, but that is me. We know the fans will urge the Bears to start the rookie too soon.
  3. I think at some point they need to start addressing the QB position. Maybe not with Gordon, but find one between rounds 4-6. Waste the draft pick every other year if it one day lands the Bears a Tom Brady haha. We have 2 extra roster spots this year, one needs to be reserved for QB grooming only imo. I don't care if they keep 4 QBs, but I want to see a QB drafted by the Bears become great and win us another Superbowl.
  4. Looking at the roster this morning. This team is in dire need of talent at S. Then at RG, CB, WR. These are first concerns IMO. S- we have Eddie Jackson, that is it. Deon Bush, Jordan, Lucas, DHC, and Kentrell Brice behind him. RG-This may have been shored up with German "the tank" Ifedi (made that up) and Cowerd. LG we have Daniel's and Corey Levin. I still would like Ifedi to challenge OT. WR-LWR is Robinson, Slot is Miller, leaving RWR to Wims. Depth Riley at slot. Patterson, Ives, and Davis as other backups. CB-Fuller locked down with Tolliver, Burns competing opposite. Skrine and Shelley NB, and J Michael. I do see other needs at RB, OT, ILB, and QB. RB-Monty is the horse, Cohen but should be occasionally used in gadgets, and then Nall OT-Leno and Massie with Bars as backup. Ifedi maybe. ILB-Trevathan and Smith, with Iggy and Woods as only back ups. QB-Foles and Trubisky, which one most likely leaves after the season. Bray is 3rd. Which positions of need can they sacrifice with limited picks? Lets say we are able to trade down once with a 2nd and get back a 2nd and 3rd. Some needs will have to wait. 2a Jalen Reager WR - competes with Wims, get a guy who will threat the deep route to stretch the D. 2b-Ben Bredson RG-this moves Ifedi to challenge Leno and Massie at OT. 3-Kyle Dugger SS - frees Eddie to play FS. Think our D would feed him and he would feed the D, building momentum during games. 5 Anthony Gordan QB - need to groom a backup for 2021. Maybe be the next Minshew. 6- Harrison Hand CB - length, quick feet, and can challenge Tolliver/Burns but may need a year to bulk some strength. 6 Darryton Evan's RB - brings more speed without sacrificing height. Can catch too 7- Cameron Clark LT - depth to groom and push Leno 7 Rodrigo Blankenship K- is Peniro the answer? Needs good competition so we never have that fiasco again TE, OLB, ILB missed out but they have players under contract at TE/OLB. Bears will need to add a vet at ILB, which I am fine with.
  5. Right on. Quinn prefers to play in a 4-3 too, at RDE. Mack usually prefers the Left side, so we know part of this will work. It will be getting Quinn more comfortable in the 3-4 now.
  6. I think they move to a more traditional 4-3 in those situations. Mack/RRH DE, Goldman/Hicks DT. Skrine NB, Trevathan ILB, Smith OLB. Jackson/HHCD S Prince/Fuller CB.
  7. If it awakens Mitch, great. We have a young QB. If Foles comes in a flourishes, then I think we will be happy too. Hopefully with Graham, Burton, and Holtz we have production from TE. Draft OT and RG and Massie and Leno will be thinking this could be their last big check and have to step up with Ifedi in the mix also.
  8. That is how it should be and why Foles first spoke to Mitch and told him to bring it. Does Mitch stand down or does he elevate? Like cutting Gould, he took it as an insult and worked on improving. Graham took it as an insult getting cut, first time, by GB. It woke him up and he is out to redeem himself. Players get complacent if they don't have worries. Like Massie and Leno, no competition, so they mailed it in.
  9. Last year they drafted Duke Shelley, a scrappy 5'9" CB who could challenge Skrine for the slot CB. They took him in the 6th rd and if he didn't tear a ligament late in the college year, he may have gone a few rounds higher. He was one of the players I thought would come in and make an impact last year. I wouldn't count him out to replace Prince either on the outside, but I prefer a little more size to jam and stick to WRs. TJ Carter round 4 or 5 could be that guy in this coming draft.
  10. I think JR Reed was available when I took Adam's also. I wanted to make sure I got Adam's or Bartch, took Adam's bc last year he was rated 1st rd material until he got hurt. Then after that no SS were available. Gilmans profile fit more of a ss than fs with the leftovers. So we can scratch Adam's for Reed.
  11. First-pick.com shifted their rankings. Some opposite as miller and others. Didn't get a solid SS but took the trades and came out pleased. Your score is: 36887 (GRADE: B+) Your Picks: Round 2 Pick 18: Cesar Ruiz, C/OG, Michigan (A-) Round 2 Pick 27 (SEA): Jaylon Johnson, CB, Utah (A) Round 3 Pick 16 (L.V.): Chase Claypool, WR, Notre Dame (A+) Round 3 Pick 39 (PHI): Albert Okwuegbunam, TE, Missouri (A+) Round 4 Pick 4 (NYG): Trey Adams, OT, Washington (A+) Round 4 Pick 21 (PHI): Ben Bartch, OT, St. John's (MN) (A+) Round 6 Pick 17: Trevon Hill, DE/OLB, Miami (Fla.) (A+) Round 6 Pick 21: Darrynton Evans, RB, App. St. (A+) Round 7 Pick 12: Alohi Gilman, FS, Notre Dame (A+) Round 7 Pick 19: Joe Gaziano, DT, Northwestern (B+)
  12. Maybe WR, CB, and TE but I would be disappointed if they avoid the oline. I'd be really happy if they could land a top OT and G Bredsen with the first two. Then find a Derek Henry RB and the D should be ranked number 1.
  13. Always happens every year. This board always seemed to find guys that we thought we would maybe get in 3rd, 4th etc and they go rounds higher. Then there are players we thought would go higher and go undrafted. This draft will definitely be interesting
  14. If the Bears can trade down and down again...they can have a heck of a draft. RG, OT, speed WR, speed RB, QB, TE, CB, SS, OLB Your score is: 38429 (GRADE: A-) Your Picks: Round 2 Pick 20 (LAR): Ben Bredeson, OG, Michigan (A-) Round 2 Pick 30 (G.B.): Prince Tega Wanogho, OT, Auburn (A) Round 3 Pick 20 (LAR): Chase Claypool, WR, Notre Dame (A+) Round 3 Pick 28 (BALT): Anthony Gordon, QB, Washington State (A+) Round 3 Pick 30 (G.B.): Brycen Hopkins, TE, Purdue (A+) Round 4 Pick 20 (LAR): Jabari Zuniga, DE/OLB, Florida (A+) Round 4 Pick 30 (G.B.): TJ Carter, CB, Memphis (A+) Round 5 Pick 17: Jordan Fuller, FS/SS, Ohio State (A+) Round 6 Pick 17: Anthony McFarland, RB, Maryland (A+) Round 6 Pick 21: Joe Gaziano, DE/OLB, Northwestern (A+) Round 7 Pick 12: McTelvin Agim, DT, Arkansas (A+) Round 7 Pick 19: David Dowell, FS/SS, Michigan State (A+)
  15. I think Foles will be fine with it because its purpose is mainly to read the LB to see if he bites to crash the run or sits to cover the flat. Foles also is good at throwing the ball on the spot on deep passes and can throw left which MT couldn't. Now for having a running QB, Foles won't be good at that, but if the QB can hit the WRs or throw them open, the running part won't matter. Trubisky will need to evolve to win the job. He now has pressure to push him. I'm hoping he can.
  16. I woukd love Ruiz and our oline coach is familiar with him. 3 interior OL with flexibility and smarts to play C would be a nice asset.
  17. I am sure we will see that, hoping at least. Just thought I'd get some names out there for round 2 to get familiar with.
  18. The Bears definately need someone young with talent to grab hold of at ot. I think Ifedi ends up replacing Massie and he gets cut after this season. His cap hit will be 3.9, but savings are 5.4. That should free up some cap to re-sign Ifedi. Lenos cap hit will be 5.1 with a savings at 6.2. So he might also be a cap casualty after the season also. The pressure will be on to earn your stay. Hope it lights a fire. CB could use talent, Fuller in 2021 becomes a 20 million dollar man. Seems like a lot, he better elevate.
  19. Not much draft talk like usual. I enjoy it, so wanted to inject some back in. Delpit, Dugger or Chinn are big possibilities. Seen some beat writers saying the Bears can find a good SS mid-draft like Amos, but they would have a hard time passing any of those up if available. Since they bolstered more at the CB position, I feel S is a position they may grab early. OT is also one I think they need now. I don't see them cutting Leno or Massie this year, but if the dead space is less next year, it could happen then. Use that money to re-sign Ifedi if he works out and then you also have the drafted player with one year experience to take the other OT. Between Cowerd, Ifedi, Barr, and draftee, you should fill RG this year too
  20. Little bored this Saturday playing mock drafts and reading. My question is what two players or positions do you think will be best for the Bears going into 2020 and beyond to draft in Round 2 if we cannot trade back? My two with some luck: OT- Austin Jackson OT USC - there seem to be a decent amount in this draft, one could fall? I could live with a Prince Tego-Whanago also OLB- Terrell Lewis OLB ALA- also a player I see late RD1 early Rd 2. We did sign Quinn, but rotation and freshness keeps the pressure on. If he is available, the Bears need another body. Let's see what two players could boosts our chances.
  21. Nice signing, 1 year deal, so not a whole lot invested. He makes a good swing OT for this season but doesn't fill the long term desire to get replacements for Massie or Leno. Haven't looked, but if he steps into the starting role, I wonder if they can re-sign him and cut one of those two after this season? If the cap works, we may have a player getting into his prime to cover R or L T. If he plays well and gets too expensive, then that gets us another decent comp pick. Draft is looking more like a SS now and maybe QB.. Dugger and Eason?
  22. I agree that they should grab a reliable vet swing tackle and also draft one high enough with hopes to compete right away. With the 2 extra roster positions, they better have a good 3rd QB and use the other on an extra OL. That is why I would not rule them out from selecting a QB first if one of the top 4 or 5 guys is available. Reason being is this year is a battle of who stays, Mitch or Nick. We have our QB 1&2 this season, but the following year QB will be a need again. If Nick wins, you want a young talent in the pipeline. If Mitch wins, you want cheap talent behind him that keeps the pressure to be good on. Rd2a- QB Love/Eason. Rd2b- OT A Jackson, I Wilson, P Tego-Wanogho
  23. Maybe bring back Ted Larsen to back up G/C and draft a OT, let him compete at RG year 1. Bars, rookie battling and Larsen there just in case.
  24. If he spends anymore big, do so along the oline.
